Celestia leaves to deal with a foreign crisis, giving her sister a chance to rule alone and become more attached to the modern world. She calls on Twilight Sparkle to advise Luna, hoping her student will be able to draw Luna out of her shell. With two major threats to Equestria already defeated in the past year, it seems like the perfect time to let Luna gain some confidence and experience in the modern world. After all, what are the chances of a third disaster occurring?

The other mare, commonly known as Princess Celestia, is in a dreadful position. Her sister Luna has set up a blind date for her in Ponyville, and Celestia believes that she has almost no experience with stallions or dating. This princess feels that she needs all the help she can get. Will these mares get through their situations, or will they fail terribly? All they need is a little help . . .

The Trial of The Champion is a time honored event between Celestia's Sun Guard and Luna's Moon Guard. The event is used to remember the founding events of their forefathers who had guarded the princesses long ago. This year, however, two newly formed regiments have been allowed to compete in the week long events. Princess Cadence's Legion of the Heart and Princess Twilight's Witch Brigade.

After being rejected by Rarity, Spike falls into a state of depression. There he becomes friends with an unlikely pony, Diamond Tiara. As they become better friends, Spike finds himself drawn to Diamond Tiara in more sinister ways.
