Ever since she was a filly, Nightmare Night has been Sunset Shimmer's favorite holiday. After all, who doesn't love dressing up and getting free candy?

When Twilight reveals that she's never gone trick-or-treating, Sunset decides that she needs to prove once and for all how absolutely amazing the holiday can be—even if it means she has to drag Twilight along kicking and screaming.

For the past month, Twilight and Pinkie have been holding nightly study sessions, where they have the chance to sit around, eat lemon cake, and ponder the mysteries of the universe. Never before has Twilight had such an attentive student—and never before has she felt this warmth in her chest whenever she looks at Pinkie.

One night while studying, Pinkie lets slip that she's not just studying for herself, but to impress another mare. When Twilight starts to press her on who that mare is, however... things take a turn for the intimate.

Remember when Sunset yelled at Twilight for putting everyone's "lives in danger?" Well, Rarity does, and she's a bit confused—after all, how could their lives be in danger when it's quite literally impossible for humans to die?

Twilight Sparkle is not an artist.

At least, that's what she tells herself. But when Twilight is invited to compete against the world's greatest authors in one of the Equestrian Writer's Society's monthly competitions, she finds herself thrown horn-first into the terrifying world of creative writing—a world that she knows absolutely nothing about. Now, armed with nothing but some anxiety and a crippling case of writer's block, Twilight has to write the story of the century, or risk becoming a literary laughingstock.

That is, unless a certain fashionista has something to say about it.

Loud Mouth is a part-time motivational speaker, and seemingly all-time unpaid intern. She's always dreamed of having her own radio show, and broadcasting her voice to millions—but no matter how hard she tries, it always seems like the cards aren't in her favor. She's always too timid, or too soft-spoken.

But with the (mostly unsolicited) help of three very different ponies, Loud Mouth may start to find the path to change.

A collection of stories from Obsolesence's OC Slamjam, featuring the character Loud Mouth. These stories are presented as they were in the competition, and have not been altered in any way. In addition, these stories have almost no continuity, meaning that they can be read in any order you like.

Here is Loud Mouth's biography, as entered in the OC Encyclopedia:

"OC Name: Loud Mouth

Species: Pegasus

Appearance: Loud Mouth is a tall pegasus mare with gangly legs. Her coat is a light tan color, while her mane--which is short cut, but always seems to be mussed up--is a dirty blonde. Her feathers are always a bit ruffled, no matter how much she preens them, and she always seems to have bags under her eyes. She always seems to have a smile on her face, even if it's a small one. Her cutie mark is a radio microphone with silver sound waves emanating from it.

History: Loud Mouth was born in a Cloudsdale suburb to two snowflake designers. As a child, her parents always encouraged her to practice her weather making skills, but she never had a knack for it--being responsible for Equestria's weather was an idea that just stressed her out. Instead, Loud was always drawn to the entertainment business--particularly radio. Throughout her teenage years, Loud interned at the local Cloudsdale radio station, 97.4, "The Bolt."

It was at The Bolt that she got her cutie mark. One day during an awful storm, due to a lack of staffing, Loud Mouth--who up to that point had just been running coffee between studios--was forced to go on the air to deliver an emergency weather broadcast. Little did she know that she would have to carry the weather broadcast for the next six hours, until the storm ended. The experience was exhilarating, exciting... something that she had never felt before. When she finally went off-air, her cutie mark appeared.

Her young adulthood was spent bouncing from radio station to radio station, unfortunately never getting any sort of on-air position. Now, at the ripe old age of thirty-one, Loud Mouth works as a motivational speaker, encouraging ponies young and old alike to "follow their dreams" and to "dare to think big."

Personality: Loud Mouth is well-meaning, but extremely unconfident in herself. Despite all of the advice she gives to ponies--all of which she does believe--she can never seem to make her own dreams come true. Whenever she tries to exit her comfort zone, she just ends up second guessing herself. However, she never lets this frustration show, for fear that ponies will taunt her for wasting her life.

Loud Mouth loves helping ponies, and thinks that there's no greater feeling than making someone's day a bit better. Well, maybe no greater feeling than chocolate. She has an awful sweet tooth. A perfect night for Loud Mouth would be sitting at home, eating pastries and listening to the radio. Unfortunately, since most of her seminars are at night, it never seems to work out this way.

Loud Mouth hates arguments, and will do anything to get out of one, even if she feels it might be justified. As a result, she tends to bottle her frustrations inside.

If Loud Mouth saw somepony in trouble, she would think about how someone should help them, but it's rare that she would actually do it, because what could someone like her do anyway?"

Twilight Sparkle has been serving her country as the Princess of Friendship for over two years, and she thinks that it's finally time for her to take the next step in her royal career: she wants a fancy enchanted mane, just like Celestia and Luna. Luckily for her, the process behind it is pretty simple—all she has to do is go petition the legendary Author of All Beings. You know, the one that lives near the supermarket. Surely she'll be willing to grant Twilight her new magical princess mane!

Unfortunately for her, there's one catch: the Author of All Beings is a complete troll.

Princess Luna has served as Guardian of the Dreamscape for millennia, patrolling dreams, destroying nightmares, and generally making sure that nopony ever has to be scared of the monsters in their closet. For just as many years, she's managed to perform her role without incident. However, during a routine dream patrol, she comes across a group of intruders: the Cutie Mark Crusaders, who have entered the Dreamscape to find their cutie marks.

Unfortunately for them, the Dreamscape doesn't take kindly to outsiders.

Now, Luna must find and return the fillies to Equestria, or else the Dreamscape—and the universe itself—will fall apart by the seams.

Rarity bothers Maud.

That's just an unfortunate fact. Among all of Pinkie Pie's friends, Maud likes Rarity the least. She's too fussy, too picky... and she loves fashion, one of Maud's least favorite things in the world. For a mare with gems on her flank, the two of them simply do not get along.

Following the Grand Galloping Gala, Rarity approaches Maud about replacing that "gaudy old" dress of hers. Not wanting to be rude, Maud takes her up on the offer―but she quickly learns that dealing with an impatient fashionista like Rarity comes with problems of its own.

A short one-off about change and fashion.

It's Saturday night, which for Rainbow Dash means only one thing: sleepover at Pinkie's place! Rainbow is ready to party all night, chugging down sodas, hanging out with her best friend, and playing loads of violent video games.

The only problem: Pinkie's parents are out of town, which means that Maud has been left in charge. And as far as Rainbow is concerned, Maud is totally determined to ruin, like, all of their fun.

Following an argument about bedtimes, Maud challenges Rainbow Dash to a round of her favorite game, Rock-Paper-Scissors. If Rainbow wins, she gets to stay up as late as she wants. If Maud wins, Rainbow has to obey every word she says. It's a battle for the ages, and only one thing is certain: there will be rocks.
