Lightning Dust. The name that everypony at flight camp knows, but nopony wants to hear. Brazen, confident, and fiercely determined, everypony else is content to just stay out of her way and let her strut her stuff. But there are whispers at night. Rumors circulated in the wee hours. Questions that nopony can answer.

Who is Lightning Dust? Why is she so seemingly uncaring? What factors could possibly breed such an unstoppable force?

And it begs the question...what happens when that unstoppable force meets an immovable wall?

Note: You don't need to read 'I Almost Lost Everything' to understand this. The two will eventually intertwine, but are stand-alones.

After an unstable slipspace rupture destroyed the Glory Upon Salvation, the Ultra's life was turned upside-down in more ways than one. Now situated rather comfortably in Equestria, everything appears to be working out for the Ultra and his trusty companions, Pip-Pap the Unggoy and Bok the Kig-Yar. The Minor has been defeated, the ponies are slowly growing to accept their fearsome and war-like appearances, and Princess Celestia herself holds promises of a new life waiting just around the corner. The Ultra is ready to embrace this new hope after his old life was smashed to pieces by the truth about the Prophets and the humans.

But a storm is once again brewing on the horizon. Equestria draws closer and closer to a horror that has not been seen for a millennia: war. It is up to the Ultra and his company to defend their new home with honor and glory, but this time, evil did not come from the Great Beyond...

I don't believe it. I can't believe it. It shouldn't be possible. A lifetime of common sense tells me that. And yet, they say it is so.

I don't know how they found me. Hell, I don't know why they CHOSE me. ME. Of all people. To be given an opportunity like this? It's almost too good to be true. Men would kill to take my place.

They're taking me somewhere. The car is still running. I have a blindfold on; I can't see anything. Suddenly, the engine rumbles to a halt. We have arrived.

It begins.

Nightmare Moon. Discord. Chrysalis. Sombra. We faced them all, together. Always we were together. Yet in one heart-stopping moment, I almost lost everything. They don't know how close it was, but I do. I alone know what almost happened. The truth. And the truth about the truth? It keeps me up at night.

And it terrifies me beyond anything else this world can offer.

But at least I have my friends to make it all feel better.

This story takes place directly after the events of "Wonderbolts Academy." First-person from Rainbow Dash's perspective.
