So by taking out Twilight this dog will be able to run free in Equestria? This guy clearly doesn't think things through fully. Like the fact that Celestia and Luna are going to drive his face through a mountain before throwing him into the sun if he kills her.
2094553 Face first through a mountain? Nah, too merciful. I think Luna's planning to send him to a dimension that will slowly tear his body apart, while broadcasting his screams to every diamond dog that ever lives.
I hope Black Diamond has fun mining moon rocks after Luna is done with him, y'know, if she doesn't just destroy him first. I've adopted the head cannon of the Princesses jewelry controlling their powers, it makes me wonder what Cadence would be like unleashed. Can't wait to see what happens next! Keep up the good work, I'm eagerly looking forward to the next chapter.
2094553 He IS a diamond dog. As big and powerful he thinks himself to be, he's still a fucking retard that wont last a second fighting against someone with actual combat experience and who wouldn't hesitate to take a life if necessary. Plain Sight excluded.
Everything but the arrangement of the words, Plain Sight, News Flash and Buried Lead belong to Hasbro and Lauren Faust. The rest are mine. Ummmm........wut?

2063869 D'aw, thanks. 2094553 As others have pointed out, he's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. 2094650 And drive every member of the species insane, guaranteeing something similar happening again? That's pretty dark. And counterproductive. 2094679 Twilight or Luna might be angry enough to do just that. 2094701 Always nice to see something I make be accepted by others as headcanon. Hmmm... Cadance unleashed... Why am I reminded of

For all those calling for Rover's head, remember one thing. No matter what version of "Eternal Night," you subscribe too it would have resulted in many deaths possibly only a few dozen to hundred in an "altered but sustainable magical ecosystem" from mass panic if nothing else to everyone in the "total ecological collapse," version. The only difference between Luna and Rover so far is that Nightmare Moon was defeated before she could kill anyone. We need to see how Rover reacts to his actions once his mind is his own again to pass judgement.
Lets take a look in to the past were i said that a Villan plot would don´t do this story any good...
...
...i was right, every enemy seems to be forcedd in to the story, there have no real reasons to do that, or have real plans and all the Charakters fail on such a line that it is just hilarius.
If the Princess would be so easy to kill there would be taken down tausend jears ago.
I could tell you taht the shitstorm you created came too fast without pacing or any legiment reason... but no i will just wait until this horrible exicuted pointles part of the Story is over, so that we can turn our attention back to the real story.
While I have been enjoying the story so far, I am a little hesitant. This is getting a little more gory / grim dark than I prefer. Been having problems suspending belief at a few points too. Ah well - I'll keep with things for a little longer. Thanks for writing it.
2095963 I really like the "for corn's sake" line. Granted, it's more minnewiegan than southern, but I just had the overwhelming urge to use it. 2096058 No comment. 2096117 That was cute. I really liked the surprised hamster. 2096146 I'll work on it some. 2096237 A call to reason. Well said. 2096608 I'm sorry you feel that way. I thought that I had laid out every villain's motivations fairly clearly. Ava and Brute Strength wanted reparations from Equestria, if not outright bring the pony kingdom to its knees. Rover wanted revenge against Rarity and her friends for forcing him out of his position in his own society, and the possessing force wanted revenge against the Elements. Was all that not clear? I thought it was.
The first part of the UCLF's plan actually worked without a hitch. It was keeping their prisoner that proved to be unfeasible. Rover's plans failed, because he's... well, Rover. Let's face it, if he can fall for the tricks Rarity pulled on him, he's not exactly the kind to plan beyond a few steps. It was only with the addition of the possessing force's input that he was able to steal Cheerilee from Ava. How the possessing force's plan unfolds remains to be seen. I'm not sure what you meant by
all the Charakters fail on such a line that it is just hilarius.
Where did I say or even imply that the Princesses were easy to take down? I showed that while well beyond anything mortals can do, they are still far from perfect. Flaws don't make a character weak, they make a character relatable.
I'll admit that while my pacing could have been better, the shitstorm has a very legitimate reason for being in the story. How long do you think Twilight can go without something happening to her? Events like this are a part of her life simply for being who she is. She doesn't even have to be directly involved and stuff like this happens to her. She doesn't have to go looking for it, it comes to her doorstep.
All that being said, I'm glad you liked it up to now, and hope that you'll continue to read. 2097260 Don't worry. This is likely to be as gory as it gets. Once Rover is taken care of, there'll be a turnaround in tone. What points were you getting hung up on for suspending your disbelief?
2097653 Don´t freed i am not going to stop reading this ^^
To the princesses...from my point of view celestia and also luna would never survived the time if there could be taken down by a simple good aimed speer...ok they should not be like Alucard with a Million lives...more like a friking nekromorph were you have literly obliuterate all parts of the body to take them down.
To the villans...YEAH you gave them all reasons ok but that dosen´t mean there are good.Take the Grypons for example. After +- 2000-3000 jears they should be so far in celestias ass ( if she is a capable Politician, witch she is ) that an attackk on equestria would be impossible because they all love or abdore her, and even when this is not the case NO cuntry in the world take on another country that has a Nuke without a Nuke. And that is the reason equestria works, they have control over the sun menas the ultra Nuke.
Fuck with us and we end the world!!! Not that she would do it as long even 100 Ponys are still alive but netherless no one would take that bet.
In short ( and hopefully better understandable) IF there was a chance to take on equestria the Pace Land of fucking rainbows than someone had taken his chance far before that!
And jes Twilight had to face problems but more of, we have to build a new house and we are not clear in witch color it should be problems (these can kill marriages faster that you can image ) not everyone want to kill my mare friends because i am so import end to the world ( which she is sadly NOT)
so i hope that make my comment clearer ( what i don´t relay believe) and to the failing part in that i mean everyone in the story, the Gard, the villains and the heroes which is still hilarious.
PS: Drunk from Carnival ( i am from Cologne ^^) is my English even worse that clean, if that is even possible...
Thanks for the reassurance. I kinda got hung up with Dinky taking the mimic home (and Big Mac letting her) but they both have excuses and I can let that one go.
Celestia flying herself to exhaustion struck me as odd - she's a highly intelligent, millenia-old, god-like being with combat experience. Once she got started with her flight I expected her to think ahead - she does like plans. She's a bit of a cipher though, so I can understand other people taking her in a different way.
Plain Sight picking a fight with the first hostile he runs into in when scouting the tunnel. Okay, she can handle herself, but her goal was finding Cherilee. Entering combat could raise the alarm and put hostages in danger - she had no idea how many enemies there were. Once she realised that she wasn't even hurting him, I expected her to withdraw. Luring him out into the open would have given her a lot more options. Still, heat of the moment and all that.
The biggest one for me is that I can't see how Rover pulled off the switcheroo. Getting to the only place the griffon touched own, making a convincing golem on the fly, swapping it for Cherilee before Ava returned and Ava not noticing any change in weight really pushed things for me. Maybe I need to read again and see if there were clues I missed. I realise that the Nightmare is powerful, but previously it seemed to work subtly - teaching a idiot diamond dog how to make a golem feels 'off'.
Basically, it's probably a reading comprehension problem for me. Thanks for your response.
2097769 Well, that clears up a few things at least. You're a drunk non-native English speaker (writer in this case). I was going to ask in my last comment, but didn't want to seem rude.
About the Princesses, that lance thrown at Celestia would never have killed her. Not even if it managed to pierce her brain, (which it could not), would she have died from it. However, it is the guards' duty to make sure that she never has to recover from an injury if they are able to prevent it. That's why they are there, and why they are paid the big money. So, yes, she could recover from that injury more easily than Shining could, but it is still his duty to see that no harm comes to her.
About the villains. I think you may be inserting your own headcanon (that's what we call an idea, belief, or aspect of a story that is not mentioned in the media itself, but is accepted by either the reader themselves or the fandom in general) into the story. In my story's canon (accepted truth of the setting), the other nations are at peace with Equestria not because they are all friends, but because Equestria is the one true superpower in the world. Most of them hold no love for the ponies, but they won't attack because they don't want to be squished like bugs.
Also remember that Ava and Brute Strength's group is NOT a government sanctioned one. This means that they do not have government approval for any of their actions, which is why the Griffo-Minotaur Hegemony sent that report to Equestria warning them of the group's actions. Consider the UCLF to be a terrorist group looking to hurt the biggest perceived threat. I didn't want to use that word, but it best fits their actions.
Concerning Twilight and thee trouble she attracts, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. She is that important. She is, essentially, one of those "nukes" you mentioned earlier. When you can take down beings like Nightmare Moon and Discord, you are on that level of power. Even discounting that, there's still the fact that she is well known as Celestia's favored student. When you are being personally taught by the ruler of a nation, you tend to attract attention, like it or not.
Anyway, thanks for the comments, and I hope this clears up a few things as well. Have fun in Carnival!
2097816 I'll be glad to clear up a few things (at least, those that I can without reveling too much). Neither Mac, nor Dinky are aware of the doll's true nature. Dinky was too afraid to really look at what she was grabbing, and Mac was stunned from nearly knocking himself out against the wall. Neither were seeing too clearly, giving the mimic its out. But don't worry. Nothing bad will happen to Dinky. I'm actually thinking of doing a small side story about her and the mimic later on.
Celestia is probably the one that stretches disbelief for most. She is millennia old, she is incredibly brilliant, she is a master strategist. She is all that and a bag of chips. However, when it comes to Twilight, she kind of loses her head; at least, she does in this story. The reason for that will hopefully be made clear in future stories (not this one).
Plain Sight didn't pick a fight with the first hostile she met. As the narrative implied, she had hid from many of those golems. Her entire reason for being there was to effect a rescue, but Black Diamond had sniffed her out. He knew she was in the tunnel somewhere, and wasn't leaving to give her a chance to sneak away. Once she did start attacking, she felt that she had a good shot at winning. She had taken down larger foes, and had managed to wind him. If he hadn't turned on the rage, it's very likely she could have gotten away to either rescue her ponies, or bring back reinforcements. As it was, the tide turned far too fast for her to do anything about it.
The switcheroo will be explained in story (indeed, the clues are there already if you can catch them).
I really hope Plain Sight won't be, as you called it, a "throwaway character" it would be a shame if we didn't see more to her but nevertheless I will be looking forward to the next... and yes those who'll hurt Twilight will feel the wrath of the heavens, and despair, especially when Celestia is back to full strength.
2095325 Something like that I remember happening in Bleach once, or at least something quite like it...It may be a good punishment for him for letting the darkness corrupt him.
2101532 That's pretty much exactly where I got it. I remember thinking how incredibly horrible that kind of death would be.
2098109 Seems pretty clear to me. Anyone would lose their head when the life of their child (even if, in this case, she is not Celestia's biological child, Celestia clearly loves her like one. That has been stated plain as day in the first story.) hangs in the balance. Especially when you consider that she has sent Twilight into DIRE peril no less than 4 times. Each time she had no choice, as they were threats she had either failed to defeat herself, or a threat she could no longer defeat as is. Nonetheless, I always figured those instances as being some of the worst points in Celly's life. Which was worse do you think? NMM, where there were an awful lot of unknowns, Discord, where they were facing a literal reality bender, the Changelings, where Celestia had just gotten her ass handed to her, or Sombra, where it wasn't so much as many unknowns as nothing BUT unknowns. In any case, I can see Celestia having become insanely protective of her student.
2101521 I'm glad you're liking the story. 2101677 Yeah, I kinda doubt Celestia would send her into danger if it was at all avoidable. I think that Celestia probably feels that the incident with the changelings was her lowest point; not so much because she was so handily defeated, but because she lost faith in her faithful student. That lapse in judgement has to really burn, especially since Twilight has never ever lost faith in her.
2105799 In Celestia's defense, Twilight handled that exceptionally poorly. She should know better than to accuse someone of being evil without direct evidence. Everything she had was entirely circumstantial. Though i found Shining's explanations somewhat lacking. ESPECIALLY the bit about the healing magic. I have never heard of a healing spell that turns your eyes green and makes them go googly like that. Still, Twilight wasn't exactly at top form either. You would have thought someone would have noticed his derp face at the wedding though.
He leaped over the the pegasus and punched her in the face.
I think you mean "to the pegasus".
“Somepony's been using that thesaurus I gave them for Hearth's Warming,” Buried lead muttered under his breath.
Lead*
Buried lead shook his head.
Lead*
She walked over to a pitcher of ice water and drank the whole thing, ice and all.” Save your healing in case it's needed when Twilight and the others return,”
You got the quotation on the wrong word.
Great chapter again. Can't wait to see where this goes.
:/ You had Celestia flare up and be all awesome, then she gets tired before she does anything? That's a disappointing anticlimax, I must say. I can sorta see why you'd want to switch over to Luna if Black Diamond is who you're hinting it is, but Celestia's been the focus Princess in both fics, she's the one who should be taking part in the confrontation at the end - especially since a few chapters ago she was the one assuring Plain Sight things would be fine on the security side of things.
Better hurry, Luna. There be some bad guys in DESPERATE need of a good flank-whoopin'! Glad to see CC's okay. Hope High Hide is, too. Also, you TOTALLY shipped CC and Flitter. C'mon, man, they're sisters! HAVE YOU NO BOUNDARIES?? ...No? Okay.
As much as I hate to say this, you really should reconsider the tags on this story. This is DARK SHIT DUDE. Like, no joke. Epic, but dark. Probably warrants a teen-level gore tag too.
This story has been amazing! The action and search is quite epic. The line: “Whosoever harms a hair on her little head shall know the wrath of the heavens, and despair.” The hard look in Luna's eyes sent a shiver down Celestia's spine. Reminds me of another description: "Beware Her wrath, fools who dare threaten our Kingdom. For if Celestia be our Shield, then Luna is the Sword." This is awesome. I hope you did not kill off Plain Sight. I was starting to like her. I want to see Luna take off her suppressor think like Celestia did and fry the SHIT out of someone.
“Unfortunately, no sign of Lady Twilight has been found as of yet. We have squadrons of pegasi searching by air, and unicorns through clairvoyance, but the Everfree forest is extremely large, and cover is dense.”
Hm. That was quick. I had wondered when you'd be killing off Plain Sight. The story is starting to turn into almost a Game Of Thrones thing. However, if you even half-kill one of the Mane 6 or Trixie, Spitfire, and/or Cheerilee, I will personally track you down and beat you to within an inch of your imminent death. Do I make myself perfectly clear?
So by taking out Twilight this dog will be able to run free in Equestria? This guy clearly doesn't think things through fully. Like the fact that Celestia and Luna are going to drive his face through a mountain before throwing him into the sun if he kills her.
2094553
Face first through a mountain? Nah, too merciful. I think Luna's planning to send him to a dimension that will slowly tear his body apart, while broadcasting his screams to every diamond dog that ever lives.

I've adopted the head cannon of the Princesses jewelry controlling their powers, it makes me wonder what Cadence would be like unleashed. Can't wait to see what happens next!
2097653 Alright. I like it.

I'll be glad to clear up a few things (at least, those that I can without reveling too much).

That's pretty much exactly where I got it. I remember thinking how incredibly horrible that kind of death would be.

Seems pretty clear to me.

I'm glad you're liking the story.

Yeah, I kinda doubt Celestia would send her into danger if it was at all avoidable. I think that Celestia probably feels that the incident with the changelings was her lowest point; not so much because she was so handily defeated, but because she lost faith in her faithful student. That lapse in judgement has to really burn, especially since Twilight has never ever lost faith in her.

In Celestia's defense, Twilight handled that exceptionally poorly.
I think you mean "to the pegasus".

You got the quotation on the wrong word.
Great chapter again. Can't wait to see where this goes.
Upvoted, Favorited and put on Story Alert. Can't wait to see what will happen next!
N-no...P-Plain Sight...don't die on us...
Finally:

I see what you did there...
2201391 Kinda have to agree. It was rather anti-climatic. So much for 'god-tier' powers, right?
Relevant scenes are at 0:45, 2:19 , and 6:12. However, the entire thing is very amusing and I'd suggest everyone to watch it.
This story has been amazing! The action and search is quite epic. The line:
“Whosoever harms a hair on her little head shall know the wrath of the heavens, and despair.” The hard look in Luna's eyes sent a shiver down Celestia's spine.
Reminds me of another description:
"Beware Her wrath, fools who dare threaten our Kingdom. For if Celestia be our Shield, then Luna is the Sword."
This is awesome. I hope you did not kill off Plain Sight. I was starting to like her. I want to see Luna take off her suppressor think like Celestia did and fry the SHIT out of someone.
This is why they need this guy:

2368673 you sir just won the internet a twisted fate pony..... -bows--
The loveable scoundrel,

No! Say it aint so! I love Plain Sight. How could you just kill her off?

I think that if Luna took off her suppressor, she'd freeze them because since she's the Night/Moon. Which is really cold.
Something like that.

Personally, I think Tia’s in Love

Yeah Twilight has never lost faith in Celestia even when she should have.
