When Soarin's grandfather comes to visit, that's exactly what he gets. Now, with his new powers, he feels obligated to help those who need him most. I actually have two different points on why Rainbow didn't notice his "new" body. (Yes, that was planned)
)
1) Since Soarin' knows the Wonderbolt's personally, he pretty much sees them everyday so they know what he looks like. Because of this they would notice an abrupt change, like say a slight height change or more defined muscles. That would raise a couple of red flags and they would notice that better. Also, it's been a while since the last time Rainbow has seen Soarin', it wouldn't come as too much of a shock to Rainbow for Soarin' to look more fit than the last time she saw him. (At least in my mind
2) The heat of the moment. She's about to be sentenced to, what I feel is, a very harsh punishment so just having the pressure on her like that, I feel, would make her observation skills diminish. When his teammates noticed his change they were all in calm environment with nothing at stake, and even then Spitfire didn't notice until the second time she saw him...if you can remember all the way back to chapter three.
P.S. I hop my initial description of Soarin's new body wasn't completely over the top. I was trying to make Soarin' look more tone and defined, I was not trying to make him out to look like the freakin' Hulk. Even though he's not going to make an appearance in my story, Big Mac would still look much bigger than Soarin'.
I'm really enjoying this fanfic so far!! Can't wait for more chapters!

In retrospect, this trial against Rainbow seems rather farcical. In a decent justice system, it is the duty of the prosecution to prove that Rainbow is responsible or culpable for the events that occurred, not for Rainbow to prove that she isn't. That's where the whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing comes from.

Kinda had it planned it that way...
I didn't want this "trial" to look too professional or well structured. I looked at this from the perspective of old time America (17th/18th century's). Back then, whenever something bad happened to the town or village, they needed someone to take the fall so they could feel "safer". Like a scapegoat.
Sense the town has never really experienced "crime", you can see why the "court" sounded/looked so dysfunctional. Even after Mayor Mare sentenced RD to community service, she let Soarin' defend Dash even though she basically dismissed the town meeting when she slammed her mallet down.
The town just wanted their blood so they could explain something they couldn't explain.
P.S. Hope this explain why the town meeting seemed "farcical". (lol, I actually had to look that word up to see what it meant.

Finally got around to reading this story and I like where this is going. The story is interesting and there are some good comedic moments. I do like how Soarin is still somewhat oblivious to the fact that he's got superpowers, it makes for a couple of funny moments. I did notice the romance tags and am seeing both Spitfire and Rainbow Dash in it, as well as this fic being part of SoarinFire and SoarinDash groups. Personally, I am hoping that the reason Spitfire is being so hard on the team is because she loves Soarin and that it does end with SoarinFire. I hope to see more of this story soon, keep up the good work.

The new semester for college just started for me so I've been super busy lately. However, I drive my sister to the same college I go to early in the morning. I then wait about 2 hours for my own class to actually start. In the down time I can work on the next chapter. I don't want to give myself a deadline, but you can expect it out this month. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
