Big Macintosh's romantic relationship with Sugar Belle is hardly a secret, everypony in town knows about it. Even Cheerilee.
In fact, it's because of the relationship that Cheerilee has arranged to meet with Sugar Belle after the end of classes one day. The meeting is something that Sugar Belle is understandably nervous about since she knows about Cheerilee and Big Mac dating.
But Sugar Belle doesn't know why Cheerilee has called her in, it isn't for the reasons the up and coming unicorn baker might think. Cheerilee has something she wants Big Mac's girlfriend to understand and something she wants to make perfectly clear about her own feelings for the stallion.

I like it. It ties off any "loose ends" in Cheerimac perfectly. It was really well done.
Don't forget about the 'loose ends' of Marble.
Do equines have menopause? If they do, then there is "a rush", biologically speaking - the body wants to continue its genetic line.

I liked this look at Big Mac's love interests interacting. Nice to know Cheerilee doesn't hold any grudges against Sugar Belle for dating him.
Honestly, same. After the Hearts and Hooves Day episode way back in season two, we got so many background hints about the two of them, and then suddenly Hard to Say Anything came around with Big Mac having feelings for a new mare. I was really thrown off by that. Like, why have all those background moments of him and Cheerilee if they were just going to drop that?
Honestly, from the show's standpoint, there probably never was all that much to Cheerimac to resolve. Their one big moment was Hearts and Hooves, and that was...under special circumstances. Beyond that, all we know about their relations was that they then trotted off into the sunset and were seen having a friendly walk about town at least once--neither of which really suggests they were ever that romantic, outside of the CMC's attempted tampering. It was never even clearly stated if they ever had any actual attraction to each other, for that matter.
I mean, I never had much issue with Cheerimac myself...but I was also not terribly surprised the show ultimately chose not to explore it further. It really didn't seem like it was going anywhere, as far as the show was concerned. It was the fans that assumed otherwise, but such is the perils of shipping.
The Marble/Mac relations, however...plenty of loose ends there. Especially since the show decided to go ahead and string it along too, even after SugarMac had been introduced.
Still, this was a nice little fic, and I rather like the idea of Cheerilee feeling obligated to sit Sugar Belle down and...clear the air with her, so to speak.
Lovely little fic. Does a nice job of tying loose ends, and one could very much imagine this took place in canon. Good job!
