I wonder when someone is going to call Blessing out on all of this, especially in relation to her position as head Shimmerist of the region. She preaches Shimmerism and ponies being better than humans, but she's rather consistently shown that she shares all the flaws and failings of humanity. Almost all the things that have escalated in the past couple of chapters bar Shadow Dancer have been the lovely result of Blessing deciding the law, or even just Shimmerist 'rule', doesn't apply to her and she could play judge, jury and executioner.
Practice what you preach and all that. Blessing's been pretty terrible at that.
And continuing the discussion from the Aftermath comments, I'm still not really fond of Luna's powers in the dreamrealm getting disconnected from her nature as alicorn Princess. I always loved how it seemed to be one of the most visible signs of how alicorns embody their titles. Luna is Princess of the Night, therefore she has a duty to watch over dreams.
Anypony.

That's because you view sleep as a nocturnal thing. The truth is it has nothing to do with night. It does for some creatures, but using just mammals as an example 70% of mammals are nocturnal making sleep and dreaming more a day thing than night in actuality. Luna does represent night, but dreams are not a necessarily nocturnal thing or even a majority of time nocturnal thing.

Well, yeah, because magic often is linked to symbology, and MLP is little different. Luna said it herself in Sleepless in Ponyville: "I am Princess of the Night, thus it is my duty to come into your dreams." She's not just the alicorn of the moon, she's the alicorn of the night itself, and all that comes with it. Just like how Twilight is the Princess of Friendship, and got a magic castle with a magic map dedicated to helping her solve friendship problems, or Cadance is the Princess of Love and became Princess of an empire whose people and literal heart of the city embody and are empowered by it.
Magic, and Equestria as a whole really, are very big on symbolism. Night is linked to sleep, which is why a core part of Luna's background was dealing with the night being a lonely endeavour, as every pony is asleep (which, incidentally, is why bat ponies don't make a lot of sense and prooobably why they've never show up in the show before outside of costumes).
Anyway, that's why I'm having a bit of trouble with these rookie dreamwardens rivalling Luna so easily, and her powers being disconnected from her nature as an alicorn. The essense of an alicorn's abilities seems to be far more closely tied to their nature than that.

It wasn't a full callout, but it seemed to me that Tonya kind of did when she turned around and quoted a Bible verse off to the Shimmerist preacher. It got Sunset to at least admit that her covering things up had nothing to do with what she claims to believe. It was kind of a big moment for Tonya because despite her being in love with Sunset she needs to start being able to not just mindlessly go with whatever Sunset says. The last few chapters have actually done a lot of growth in their relationship so there's hope it could become a healthier one.
tempers are running hot and it is forcing pony's to face there own truth.

I don't see it so much as Luna being rivalled by them as the fact that Luna simply hasn't had a need to display that sort of power in Equestria. The night ponies of Equestria effectively Get It, as they've been under Luna's guidance for many centuries. I would imagine most night ponies get taught responsible behavior by their parents long before they ever dreamwalk, and the moment they do, it's just the formality of the night pony swearing fealty to Luna.
