I'm with Wild on this, six ponies policing how many potential night ponies? They'd have to be like god level while dreaming, but Phobia says it isn't even natural talent. Luna apparently has faith in this so there must be something to it, but I'm still asking how.
I wonder how many others there are like Tom. They have their cutie marks so they can’t go back to being human, but they refuse to see any good from being a pony. It seems that those with strong mental constitutions or just a sheer amount of stubbornness will never see anything good about being a pony. This may be an area that Sunset never foresaw. She most likely felt that the dream would sway every human that was transformed and all would see the benefit of being a pony. I’ve often wondered what would have happened if Sunset had no opposition and completed what she set out to do. How many others like Tom would there be? Would they have given in to peer pressure. Seeing as Sunset was obsessed perfection in all she did, how would she have reacted to those who refused to be swayed. We already know how she reacted to even minor failure when commented on her mother’s reaction to what she was doing. It’s something I’ve been thinking about since I read the origanal story, Sunset had spent 20+ years of her life on one big failure, and we still haven’t seen the full consequences of her misguided beliefs and actions.
Probaly the weird nature of space and time in dreams.
Holy flipping hypocrisy, Tonya! You don't get to be paranoid about ponies using mind magic when you are dating a pony who deifies a pony who thinks tinkering with the heads of billions is A-ok. Ditto for you, Rosetta, if you don't want people messing with your fiancee's mind, better remember that her, yours and everypony's minds have already been messed with.

I sat trying to do the math on that. We don't have exact figures on how many night ponies are in the world but we do have Riverview's numbers and we can use that to try to guess how many night pnies there are.
Rough figure is around 3 million.
We have no idea how many are actually dreamwalking already out of that figure. But let's assume that they all will eventually. That's about 500,000 ponies per Dreamwarden. Using Riverview as an example again for how many are already actively dreamwalking we get a rough total of about 50,000 in the world out of those 3 million already dreamwalking. That's about 8,500 per Dreamwarden to start with that will grow to 500,000.

Once again, you and I are on more or less equal grounds, not only seeing the Doctor Connor situation go further in having active rather than passive magical abilities, but also just how badly she SS screwed up fundamentally as well as execution wise. I imagine she’d kill herself when all influencing on the likes of Fred, Ted and so fourth ends up failing. Worse, she’d be dead before she know what hit her when all life on earth was wiped out because she turned most of humanity into Luddites, utterly vulnerable to the abominations she inadvertently lured to planet Earth. When ETS was stopped, she actually did commit suicide rather than let herself face charges by her own mentor and idol, or worse, be left to the mercy of earth’s governments and remaining humans by Celestia’s own order. She knew nothing good would be in store for her if she surrendered to the FBI, thus chose suicide by cop. Not to mention her world came crashing down on her when she realised she crippled the ponies on earth by overplaying instincts which is now irrevocable, even if she wanted to fix it, compounded by feeling betrayed by Tia, whom she allegedly did all of this for to the point she’s the poster image of it all. She shot her down and disapproved, spiritually killing her well before she died for real.
Given the future vision doesn’t describe his physical stance, what pose he was in, nor anything about his presence apart from dialogue, it is an open possibility he was in one of his human guises at the time. Disguises for ponies are a thing, and Sunset Shimmer spent the better part of her life in one. Ponies like Remedy’s dad would almost certainly catch wind of it, and look into it. Obviously they cannot spend all of their time in that facade, or even half of it, but maybe they may spend up to a quarter of it in that appearance. He can’t ever be human again, but all is not lost. He still has a choice. He’ll always be a pony, and usually with his true nature out on display, but hiding it under a human guise is certainly something he’ll take full advantage of, and maybe even Fred, Ted, Jason, and Sarah will do the same. They all seem to have similar stances on the situation, but only Fred and this here guy went this far. Actually, it would appear a good number of the Tanners ultimately went that way.
I actually hope he gets what he wants, and spiritually needs. He reminds me of the WL char from PAP. That tale had a mare who had existing identity issues before the world was altered, and being stuck in a small alien body did nothing to help her preexisting problems, to say nothing of broken dreams. Namely, her future career ripped out from under her, and being severed from everybody she ever know and loved, her father especially. Let’s not specify about a bad injury she sustained that left her in merciless agony for days on end. Compared to her, Tom’s current situation doesn’t look so bad, but they both have similar reactions, loathing those that did this to them, but she can let her hate for Equestrians fester, but he has not that luxury. Shimmer’s dead, and no other Equestrian likes what she did, so there can be no vengeance for him. Besides, he’s got his family, and that is something WL would always lack. She had to get herself a husband, and ultimately a son and possibly more offspring and even grandchildren, start entirely fresh. Actually having modern amenities and a stable lifestyle he didn’t need to break his back for is something he should be grateful for.

Tonya=Bastard. She should be clubbed over the head, and repeatedly battered this way for this. And that fact she’s an accomplice to murder. And Blessing should be strung up for this, preferably with a magic cuff on, and being hoist into the air rather than dropped, so as to not break her neck and ensure she strangles.
I cannot and will not agree to mind rape. Enough of that has gone on, and I will not justify more of it. Hanging is an act of mercy next to that. Why do you think SS committed suicide? She was so caught up in deifying a non deity like Celestia (and we have seen a real one) and trying to appease her for what she thought she wanted that it spiritually killed her when she was not only corrected by her, but also treated in disapproving scorn for her crimes. Drove her to suicide it did. More focused and intentional mind rape would be even worse.

I can't defend Tonya about what she did to Number Crunch, but at least she felt regret and guilt for it. What I can defend her on is that it isn't her fault that she even has mind magic. She also admits she really has very little clue what she is doing and doesn't have the control she should have over it. The thing is there really isn't any pony outside of Equestria that would have a clue.
Mind control seems to be one of the things Luna jumped on taking steps against first. Her first real major action on Earth seems to be setting up these Dreamwardens to act as judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to ponies trying to mind control others. Not really that surprising considering the biggest conflict with the transformed is arguing about whether they are all mind controlled or not.
Tonya violated Number Crunch by forcing him to act on the part of himself he hates worst. It's exactly as bad as rape. Probably even worse. Then she says she has tried to help him in any way to be better. What a dang liar. Tonya needs to beg forgiveness from Number. Admit what she has done to everypony.
I love Phobia as a character now. This scene sold me. The more she embraces the coldness of fear the better she gets!
Wild Growth trying to parallel blackmail deaththreats with Phobia stating equal justice to all mind magic users and clear enforcement of violations is ridiculous. Not even close to hypocrisy. If that were the case than every American should feel they have had death threats made against them for the existence of the justice system. Not a very sound way to use logic there Wild Growth.
Looking back on this, only skimming mind you, Thomas Glimore’s marking isn’t mentioned till this point without the last chapter of What You are Meant to Be, and the assault on his daughter till the fifth of this sequel. Many of my comments would retroactively come off as spoilers without the final chapter of WYAMTB or the original first of PUTP. Also the specifics of what it looks like are erased without those chapters.
I think only I cared about this supporting character reading this the first time around, given how little he is in any of these, and only I cared about his plight.
As a side note, while the sentiments of the underlying message of not being specist and the attempt to illustrate ponies are not superior is admirable, it falls flat and falls apart in the face of the fundamental structure of Pandemic and everything spawned from it. The very existence of cutie marks is something no other creature has ever developed an equivalent to. No other creature has them, but all ponies do once they hit puberty or reach psychological maturity/any ability to think logically. They prevent ETS victims and Equestrians alike from permanently altering their resonance, and nothing can be done about that, but all other forms of creatures can and do, as none of them have anything that locks their resonance as is forever. What was attempted on humanity could never have been attempted on ponykind, and not even Celestia nor the dream Wardens knows any more about cutie marks than the common population, only that they correlate to individual talents and can’t be altered.
Sunset Shimmer wasn’t trying to make CMs, they just happened as a result of making more ponies, indicating no sentient, let alone sapient nor supreme being has any say in ponies being advantaged and favoured by nature. This is only furthered by the sheer lack of ponies wanting to be human or anything else, but most humans wanting badly to be ponies, not only because some have underlying medical conditions. Human to pony TFs always go without a hitch save one version of it, but the opposite always runs smoothly, too smoothly even. Nearly all humans who ever had even the slightest taste of equinity will stop at nothing to pursue it no matter what kinds of extreme awful crimes they must commit.
To make a long story short, the sentiment and message of equality and denouncing the evils of specism are the right ones in general, but the whole Pandemic setting is incompatible with this by design, whether that was the intent or not. The very laws of biology, physics, chemistry, magic and so on reinforce this no matter what Tia and others of her stature try or want. It shares similarities with FF in this manner, where ponies are compatible with anything that draws breath.

The answer to what makes a human (a magicless human) equal to a pony is coming. It is not simply the Devourers have no interest in those without magic. Marshmallow Dreams will explore this by the time it comes to a conclusion.
I once again scream internally about how ill thought out Luna’s decision making for the initial version of the dreamwardens was. Giving flawed beings enormous and unrestrained power with little oversight was never going to end well.
