Who is that coming up from the wilderness,
leaning on her beloved?

Rarity is not whole. Her adventures have finally caught up to her, and after a daring rescue of her beloved Rainbow Dash, she finds herself at least temporarily crippled. Her doctors are baffled--raw magic poisoning of the magnitude she sustained is not exactly commonplace. But Rainbow is there for her, watching, worried, and hopeful. A Lady endures all things, after all, and Rarity is the epitome of a lady.

Sequel to Where the Sun is Silent, Catch For Us the Little Foxes, and Great Heart Will Not Be Denied. Knowledge of these is helpful, but not exactly required. The story is less about the continuity and more about Rarity and Dash.

“Hey, you don’t see ‘we’ anymore!”

Pretty sure you mean say.

This is astounding, in the best possible way. As always, a chance to revisit the songverse is very welcome. You remind me why I say you write the greatest Raridash on this site. The authors notes were beautiful endcaps to each chapter.

I hope this is not the end of the songverse, but if it is...
It makes a perfect coda. (I know Rarity in the Dark is set after this, but here we get to see them finally healing. It is a hell of a journey. )

5015531 Well this was... interesting?

5015733 As far as writin' it, probably. I need to try to finish Great Heart, but elsewise I'm spent on it. I think. Maybe. Though the "end" chronologically is already written. heh. Absolution is the latest on the timeline, but it doesn't really count.

Yeah, I'd love to see the end of Great Hearts, the tease of it here sounds pretty flipping awesome. But if it doesn't get finished this story gave me enough hints to picture how it ends.

(And I had forgotten Absolution was in the songverse. Love that story too.)

It is not bad, actually a good story, but i had like it if there where not well timeskips, i don´t know how to explain it further.
It is a different knd of stroy, it is written a different way i read it normaly.

weeps tears of joy at the happy ending. love it and bravo

This was an absolutely beautiful story. I loved it.

This is the kind of story that's great not because of what's written but because of what's not. This story could have gone on and on and on and on about all the problems and hurdles between Rarity, Rainbow, Twilight and all the rest of the cast. Instead it just showed what was necessary.
10/10, will read again!

The clank of the prosthetic on the cobblestone drew attention, but never for very long. The unicorn whose leg was gone did not seem to be impoverished in any way. She smiled. She walked with surprising grace, and with ease parted the sea of traffic with only charm and composure. No stallion with an eye for mares remembered the iron leg, for all of its adornment and fine craftsponyship. They all remembered her face, and the music of her laughter.

This is beautiful right here.
