This really feels like it needs an extra chapter or two - one with the CMC trying to make heads or tails of what Rarity's told them, and one of Rarity 'showing Applejack the ropes', as it were - though perhaps not with as much rope as Rarity might LIKE to use, as it would probably be too much for poor ol' Applejack to bear.

While that's a fun idea, I don't see it happening. Rarity may be almost unusually liberal with her personal politics regarding sex and sexuality, she does have standards, and intentionally exposing them to something so intense just violates her sensibilities.

In the original draft, Scootaloo had a line or two while they were debating why Rarity would hurt herself where she said something to the effect of "Well...it's not always bad, right? Getting hurt?" The situation got really awkward really quickly and she tried to play it off, but failed pretty horrendously. The whole thing made the story go on a tangent a little too long for my tastes, so it got removed, but I'm glad that little bit of character still appears even if it was unintentional. 
Funny you should mention that.

Well, it's as complete as it's going to be for now. It's all I'd intended to write, anyway. If there's pressure to extend it after I've finished the October stories I'm working on, I'll come back and add a chapter to finish it up.

Sadly, I think it'll be a while before anything is added to this, if it is at all. The whole sex-ed schpiel is really what I wanted to get done with this, so anything that happens as a result may be part of a different story.

This was a GREAT chapter! I may just have t read this to my wife, she may just understand the whole thing. (Seriously, it's been 4 years since I came out to her as a Dominatrix and she still doesn't get it, even with dozens of conversations, many started by her, trying to explain it)

I think it's more the way you're presenting it as a bunch of pre-teens who have NO idea what sex is let alone power-play and related games, where I've always tried to relate it in terms of just-adult-relationships that makes it work better than I've ever said in the matter. I can tell my wife really wants to understand it, but I just keep failing at explaining it.

I have to say, I'm quite enjoying the discussions going on around Rarity's sex life as much if not more than the sex scenes themselves. You've done a really good job of talking about the nature of BDSM, in addition to the depictions thereof. Nice work.

Bravo! This is exactly how sex ed should be approached (though perhaps less a bit of the practical demonstration, as much as I enjoyed it.) It's almost exactly how I'm attempting to approach it with my daughter. Shame and fear are never going to do anything but screw the kid up. They certainly don't keep kids from having sex; look at the teen pregnancy rates through the Bible belt. If you don't mind, I'm also going to plug Our Whole Lives, an amazing sex-ed program developed by the Unitarian Universalists and the UCC. They have great, honest, fact-based programs aimed at all ages from 6 to adult (we could all still learn something, right?). Here's Bill O'Reilly talking to one of the developers of the program being absolutely aghast at the idea of teaching a six year old that she has a vulva. Yeah.
Oh, um, sorry about that. The comments for a story about magical technicolor ponies wasn't really the right venue for that was it? I, uh, really enjoyed the story. It was good...with the...words?... I'm going now.

You have to consider though, some people are almost totally visual learners. A little demonstration every now and then may be the only way to get a point across.

I'm religious and a conservative and I totally agree that the rampant sexual prudery on the part of most people who claim to be on the "right" is disgusting and doesn't actually, you know, help anyone. I had to spend the first year or two of my marriage to my wife disassembling her nasty preconceptions about sex that had...nothing to do with reality.
'course, when I came out as, not just Transgendered, but a Dominatrix, well, that was a whooole new bag of tricks.
