I can't understand the reasoning behind such thinking. Just because all we saw in Dragon Quest were a bunch of nasty adolescent lizard-boys doesn't mean there are no dragon girls...

You are gonna have to give me pure, canonical evidence that can't be beat, and saying that "this is legitimate". Otherwise, I have to ship
until something breaks it to pieces or the series ends.
Now don't get me wrong, if it generally wants to have it where Rarity and Applejack get together, that I will graciously have to go with it--I just hope that that is a scene where Rarity breaks it to Spike w/o completely breaking his heart and incidentally any sense of loving another creature. Rarity's gentle and generous enough that she cares for Spike but doesn't want him to be miserable. Same with Applejack. However, I would prefer for that to happen because Spike himself calls it quits and gets with somepony else---even one of the other mane 6 characters---rather than having him just find it out in the worst possible way; i.e. he wasn't educated or otherwise known. It's much cleaner that way, and there's very little, if any, drama. They would still be good friends; only that they would respect the fact that each have his/her lover.
Edit: Personally, I can't see Rarity as a fillyfooler. However, I have read dozens of stories that show her as one, and most are well done, meticulously researched when written and entirely plausible. So I am well aware of the possibility that she is. Also ,if that ever came to pass, I honestly think that just like she would trust her friends for their support, I think that it would be wonderful to know that she has the trust of Spike to support her decision even knowing the decision is adverse to him romantically. She will still have her "precious scales" in her stead. And I think Spike will still care for her like the rest of his "family", just the romance cloud dissipates.
Yay! This was a great sequel and fics both romantic or clop in which Rarity and Applejack is a couple always rubs me the right way.
After reading the previous comments I must say that I will always respect other opinions and I can understand why fans want/like to ship Rarity with Spike but I for one can't see them as a pair. Spike is way to young and I belive season 4 gave away hints that Rarity only sees Spike as a friend. But I must add that there are writers and artists who have been able to portray those 2 as a cute or successful couple in such a way even I enjoyed so I wouldn't say it's impossible.
I belive that shipping Rarity with another mare or a dragon could be based on the same same basic idea, that Rarity's high standards and hope to find herself a prince leaves her lonely and sad until she finds comfort and ultimately love in the hooves or claws of a close friend.
Anyway, I will probably always ship diamonds with apples myself and I just want to say; great fic, cute and with good mare on mare sex. Good work and keep it up. Thanks.

I might be a little biased, but I always pitied the little guy... Poor Spike does look a lot less like Rarity's friend to me than like her little slave/plaything.
I might be looking too deep into it, though. Either way, I agree 100% that RariSpike is probably one of the most far-fetched ships out there (but I, too, have seen great writers working wonders with this pairing).

Hehe, I got nothing against Spike but I want him to get his claws off my favorite mare. And I can totally see what you mean about Spike being her slave or plaything and just in this very moment I realize that I have no idea what to say in order to defend Rarity's behaviour.
Anyway, I also agree with you on the last point, I might not be one to support the Sparity ship but some writers know how to do it right and I have read a few and enjoyed them. It's just that I find the Rarijack ship much hotter. Once again, good job and thank you for writing these stories. *Hugs*

Oh, absolutely and I like the concept. Rarity and Applejack may be very different but I'm not sure why a lot of fans consider it impossible for them to be a couple. There are a lot of Appledash fans out there who quickly gets butthurt when you like a different ship involving either Applejack or Rainbow dash, and while I see their point; Applejack and Rainbow Dash are more alike and they get quite a few moments together in the show, I still can't see why Rarijack would never be able to work...
I must admit that I kinda like most ships but we all have our favorites right? (I've actually been enjoying both Appledash and Raripie nowdays.) I belive that if Rarity and Applejack would ever become romantically involved with each other they would learn to find a balance in their lives. Love changes people and I belive they would be able to find common ground as they both are pretty mature mares; both are running their own businesses and caring for their younger siblings.
I became a fan of this ship because Rarity is my favorite Pony and I have always liked Applejack so it was obvious for me. I like to think that despite Rarity's high standards and dreams of a "better" life among the high society and whatnot, every now and then we get to see Rarity's facade crumble a little and give us a hint of the real Rarity; the insecure country filly, born in the small town of Ponyville, and that makes me belive in this ship, you know?

Over time, I've seen many impossible ships sail over the seas of romance, all steered by skilled writers able to lead them through the treacherous waters of love-hate relationship. Alas, everyone has their favorite ship(s). Mine is pretty obvious to guess.
Personally, I never much cared for the popular AppleDash. For me, Applejack is too much like Rainbow Dash to let it sail. What do you think would be the lifespan of a relationship of two competitive mares, in which each half strives to prove she is better than the other? Surely, it would blaze up like a Nightmare Night bonfire, shedding light over half of the town, but then it would inevitably burn all of its fuel at an alarming rate and died in a puff of smoke.
RariJack, though? There are puddles of unadulterated chemistry between them, displayed in the show on numerous occasion (like the youtube clip, or the scenes in Trade Ya or in Simple Ways). All up for grabs by anyone who wishes to do so.

I totally agree with you. Of cource I respect that people may have other opinions but I had this discussion with a couple of friends and I came to the very same conclusion, they are too competitive to maintain a "healthy" relationship.
Somehow Rarijack feels so right and there is plenty of sweet and cute moments in the show which makes me squeal in delight. Simple things like in the episode, "It's about time", I love the scene where Applejack fixes the cracks in the dam and Rarity sits beside her, ready to wipe the concrete of the earthpony's face. It is a very sweet moment in my opinion.
Anyway, what makes me so happy about your replies and your amazing work is simply the knowledge that there are other fans of this ship. somtimes one feel a bit alone in this sea of Appledash fans.
Finally I must say that authors like yourself is the main reason why I would love to contribute to this site and ship too. I doesn't speak english as my first language and sometimes I have a bit of a struggle but I am considering to write a Rarijack fic myself now. Only time will tell if I got the guts to do so. ^^

There definitely are. Actually, I always considered AppleDash to be as popular as RainbowPie. And when you dash pies, by natural law of order you also have to regard apple a rarity.

It really boils down to practise. When you look at the sheer number of stories I have published (only 7 so far, all of them rather short one shots) you might not see it directly, but I've been writing ponies for over two years now (god, how time flies). 
). So I have about another 7 completed stories waiting for me to get my ass up and finally revise 'em.]
Practise makes perfect, as you said, that's all there is to it. 
[One has to do something on the daily boring train rides to work. See, I'm quick to write, but very slow to edit and revise my stories (probably because it takes a lot of effort over and over again as I'm never satisfied with the result
I dread to do it myself, but I imagine if someone were to compare this story with sh*t I wrote two years ago, they wouldn't even recognize it was the same author.
That said, let me wish you all the good luck (and perhaps a bit of tenacity) when attempting to write your story. They might both come in handy, but the results will undoubtedly be worth it.

Well, to answer your question; I was about to say Twilight/Flutters/futa-Celestia since I've developed a fetish for futa-ponies and such stories involving Twi (or Rarity) somehow rubs me the right way...
BUT, that said, I must say RariCocoShy because characters like Coco Pommel, Suri Polomare and Torch Song from season 4 doesn't get enough love in my opinion.
And you make me curious, Coco was such a sweet pony and I love to see what you have in store for her.
