One evening, while in Canterlot to visit her former teacher, Twilight asks Celestia why Princess Luna is rarely ever seen at the castle.

And for the first time, Celestia tells the truth on the matter.

For the record, please know that this was NOT intended as another Celestia bashfic! I like Celestia! This is a story about one version of how I figured she might feel about herself!

This story is a sequel to With Tears in Her Eyes

Okay, fine. Here's something new to follow up on the last one, it was sort of half finished at the time anyway.

It is a time of celebration, of honor and joy. But is it really?

Twilight Sparkle has been a Princess for the better part of a year now, and Celestia has a gift made in honor of Equestria's newfound Princess of Friendship, as well as the Elements of Harmony. The Princesses and the Mane 6 have been gathered in the courtyard of Canterlot Castle with the townsponies for the grand reveal of the decorated statue paying homage to Twilight and her friends.

But after the ceremony, and the others have left, Cadence finds Luna staring forlornly upon the statue and decides to ask the Moon Princess what is troubling her.

NOTE: This needs to be edited, like all my other stuff. PM me if you're interested.

A dark spirit lurks in the realm of dreams, attracted to fear, and capable of exaggerating that fear. As the Princess of the Night, Luna must look after the dreamers, offering ways to ease turmoil as she is quite familiar with the emotions. She occasionally does battle with the dark spirit, which she has aptly dubbed Tantabus, an ancient word for "Nightmare".

But the battles utilizing her fears just aren't enough to satiate the Tantabus forever. It grows a fancy to the ponies that saved Luna from her nightmarish shell the first time. Despite her natural tendency to attack the problem by herself, she accepts the aid of her heroes. If only it were that simple...

The following takes place between 7 PM and 10 AM.

An alternate take on "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?"
Special thanks to The Fiery Joker for showing how someone can be serious in addition to being comedic.
Warning: There are trace amounts of OCs sprinkled in toward the end of this fic, but not enough to mark them as the main characters.
