After visiting the past in It's About Time, Twilight spends some quality time with Princess Celestia before returning to Ponyville. She then falls into a coma and wakes up where no living pony would ever wish to be, and things only get more complicated when Celestia gets an unexpected visit from herself. Life has become pretty mundane for Joe, but as he serves his customers and chats with his regulars he realizes that he has come to rely on that repetition...he relies on it to keep from remembering.

As a casual utterance by a new customer sends Joe into a spiral of haunting memories we learn about his life...and what he must give up if he wishes to move beyond his past.

An unfortunate event gives Princess Celestia a fresh view on her life by forcing her to see the world from a very different viewpoint. With Equestria changing around her, she is faced with a personal crisis... if she can ignore how cute a certain lavender unicorn suddenly looks to her.
