When Sonata Dusk walks into Sugarcube Corner during Pinkie Pie's shift on a Friday afternoon, it seems like a normal, routine event like with any other customer.

When Sonata comes back the next week - and the next - and Pinkie eventually asks her out - it's more fun than the colour pink or warm caramel-fudge swirl.

Neither has any idea what they've gotten themselves into.

This is a minorly-altered canon (but probably not entirely alternate universe) fic in which Pinkie and Sonata meet two weeks after the Fall Formal and five months before the Battle of the Bands. Some artistic liberties with the Rainbow Rocks movie have been taken, but with caution to keep close to the original plot, and so this story is rife with movie SPOILERS for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Friends who play together, stay together. That was the philosophy Rarity had in mind when she suggested she and Pinkie play a game of chess every week. Unfortunately for Rarity, however, Pinkie has a habit of changing the rules.

The Canterlot Castle can be a stressful, boring, and serious place. After already spending what seemed like ages at the dull place to discuss political affairs with the other princesses and make public appearances for the eager Canterlot citizens, Twilight is not looking forward to spending another week there. Luckily, her friend Pinkie comes for a visit to help liven the place up and more importantly spend time with her favorite princess.

In the aftermath of one of Pinkie's parties, an innocent query leads Dash to question why she's still living with Pinkie Pie. Why does she feel trapped when there's nothing holding her back?

And how many buildings can Pinkie Pie destroy before insurance companies stop covering 'acts of Pinkie Collateral Damage Pie'?

This story is an indirect sequel related to Where Earth Meets Sky, but can be read just fine on its own. It simply assumes a previously established relationship.

It's one thing to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. It's something quite different to worry that it doesn't have a right side anymore. Stuck in an artistic rut, Rarity has to rely on an unlikely friend to understand who she is, and in doing so, discovers that what we want may not always be obvious, even to oneself.

There may or may not be an excess of hats involved, and fabulosity is guaranteed.

If you ask Applejack, she’ll tell you Pinkie Pie can be a few apples short of a bushel even on the best of days. They’ve always been good friends, but nothing more than that. After all, what could a hard-working apple farmer and a sugar-crazed party pony possibly have in common?

As it turns out, the answer to that question may not be a pleasant one, but something good may yet come of it.

Rarity has accomplished everything she’s dreamt of accomplishing, and she couldn’t be happier. At least, that’s what she thinks, until an old friend comes unexpectedly bouncing back into her life. A RariPie story.
