Spike, though he's accepted that he's really a pony at heart, still feels down about the differences between him and the rest of his species. He tells Rainbow Dash how he feels, who does her best to cheer him up, her way.

Spike always knew he would lose her. He just never guessed it would be so soon...

(Just something short I wrote, because for me, grief always demands that I create. Cover sketch is by me as well.)

Spike wakes up on the side of an unfamiliar road, with only a confusing memory of the night before and a very unspecific note in his hand. Following the road, he finds himself in the town of Dragonsville, a rural town in the direct center of the country of Serpentia, land of love, tolerance, and harmony. Upon entering the town, he comes face-to-face with the most confusing group of dragons he's ever met: Pinkie Pie, the baker; Rainbow Dash, the stunt flyer; Applejack, the farmer; Rarity, the designer; Fluttershy, the animal enthusiast; Twilight Sparkle, the librarian; and Spike, the #1 assistant, who also happens to be a unicorn, a species most rare in this land.

And so begin the most incredible two weeks of Spike's life...

In the dark,six voices dwindle. They drift, forgetting life and love and hope, eaten away by time and void.

And then, suddenly, there was colour.

How deep does a friendship go?

Does surpass the conventions and taboos of society?

Does it overpower the scorn of others?

For Twilight and Spike, this has always been the case; their deep bond formed under the watchful eye of Princess Celestia during their long years in Canterlot.

But for Rarity, a mare known for her superficial view of the world, this question has always remained open, until a chance encounter reveals a dreadful secret about Spike that could drive both him and Twilight from Ponyville.

Horrified beyond belief, and pushed to the very edge of her relationship with the two, Rarity will see exactly how far her friendship to a scatterbrained librarian and her reptilian assistant will take her.

A dragon wanders through a starless night, into a land that banished him centuries ago. Never did he imagine he would return to the world that cursed his very existence, but when the sun and moon failed to rise one fateful day, something compelled him to begin the long journey home to the princess who shattered his heart.

Spike only wants things to stay the same. Time, however, has other ideas. He's going to need a lot of help... An everypony story.

After months spent in the care of Corona, the Tyrant Sun, Spike has had enough. He strikes out on his own, leaving the insane alicorn and his friend Zecora behind. But it doesn't take long for Spike to encounter somepony new, a unicorn pony on the run from the law who seems to have a few screws loose...

What Spike saw in the doorway of King Sombra's crystal palace hasn't left his mind. The fear of Twilight abandoning him haunts him through recurrent nightmares. Anxiety taunts him when he's at his most vulnerable, reminding him of all his failures, all his inadequacies, all his wounds.

One night, this fear and anxiety manifests itself in a full-blown nightmare, dragging Spike face-to-face with his greatest fear. What if Twilight never needed Spike in the first place?

Takes place right after the Season Three opener (before Episode Three).

'Where am I from?' It is a simple question, one that some of us may ask from time to time. But we usually received an answer. Spike, Twilight's number one assistant, has asked that question for nearly half a decade. Yet there was still no closure for him. Now on a cold day in the rain Princess Celestia finally agreed. Now Spike is about his wish, but you must always remember, sometimes the truth isn't what you want to hear.

Crazy one shot done in about three hours after seeing the cover art by the amazingly talented assasinmonkey. (I was on duty when I wrote this, so I guess you could call it me trying out different waters... after all, 'the safe zone is a dead zone'. Any and all criticism would be appreciated. Even if this flops I know that I at least tried something new... but I hope that you like it all the same.
Also introducing a new editor! OneWingedDevil did a lot of hard work making sure this was worthy. So even if you don't like this one shot, you could at least commend them for doing a good job.
