When the only other alicorn in Equestria is its ruler, a lot of questions don't have answers. There will be times of trial and error, there will be times when nothing makes sense, and there will be times when it's lonely. Was the crown given to you or forced on your head? It's heavy either way.

When Twilight Sparkle slipped beneath the covers last night, everything had been fine. She had friends whom she loved, a teacher she adored, and a bright future ahead of her. But when she woke up, her blankets and quilts had been replaced by hospital gowns and padded restraints.

Everything is wrong and nothing makes sense; even her friends have changed. The doctors keep telling her that she is sick, that none of it was real and that it was all in her head. Yet she remembers a life far beyond the hospital walls. She couldn't have made it all up on her own. They must be lying… right?

Update 10/17/12: Fixed many errors, and reworded things to help make the story sound less "mechanical" also added an epilogue.

Before meeting Applebloom and Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo had always been sort of a loner. Her schoolmates ignored her, the townsfolk only paid her mind when she ran into them with her scooter, and her own mother pretended she didn't exist.
Scootaloo didn't mind being alone. It gave her more time to think.. It gave her more freedom. Friendship and compassion does nothing but hold us back, after all.
But Hearths Warming Eve comes along... This holiday has always been her least favorite holiday.

This story is a sequel to From The Gates

Taking place three months after the events of From the Gates, the Elements of Harmony and the former homunculi were enjoying their new lives and what has been laid in front of them. But after a large accident at the Grand Galloping Gala, all sorts of chaos will unfold. Will the Elements succeed a third time with the help of the homunculi, and will Greed finally know the meaning of Generosity? Stay tuned for more!
