Just because the world is ending doesn't mean Derpy doesn't have a job to do.

Written for the Publish-a-Story speedwriting contest on the Quills and Sofa server, where the prompt was "End of the World". This story placed second.

Ever since Derpy heard Twilight's wonderful voice reading to a bunch of foals, the mailmare has been infatuated with the purple mare. Unfortunately, during one of Derpy's deliveries, she is forced to talk to Twilight after a slightly awkward encounter. All she has to do now is deliver the package, but sometimes secrets have a way of coming out.

For thousands of years, the moon has waged endless war on innocent beaches. Every day the tides wash away countless sand castles, crushing the dreams of foals all across Equestria. Somepony needs to stop the moon's heinous crimes—and, at last, it looks like somepony will.

After her sand palace is washed away by the ocean, Dinky Hooves takes it upon herself to do something that should have been done centuries ago: destroy the moon.

Derpy Hooves is your typical mailmare. She has a good job, has a nice house, and is a loving mother. Just don't keep her from her daughter.

However, when there's a real crisis, Celestia turns to our favorite gray pegasus with her wonderful golden eyes to save the world! Derpy has the best weapon at her disposal for just such a crisis!

A combination of a backstory for Derpy and Dinky, and a look at the events that took place in Ponyville during Nightmare Moon's return. Also answers the question of why everyone in Ponyville so readily puts up with the wonderfully klutzy Derpy, no matter how much damage she does.

There are many boundaries between an immortal princess and her student. Some are inevitably crossed when Spike accidentally sends a fantasy of Twilight’s to Princess Celestia.

Rated T for a little bit of mild spiciness, though there’s nothing explicit.

Takes place between season 2 and 3, with unicorn Twilight and alicorn Celestia.
