A young teenage thief running from the police winds up in EQG Canterlot as Tempest Shadow getting a new chance at life.
A teenage girl who has been living on the streets her whole life, steals the bag of a rich woman only to get pushed out of the building. She tried to escape into an alleyway only to be shot by the police but before the police could apprehend her a strange magical metal arm appears that will change her life forever.
A teenage girl with crimson red hair leapt out of the second story of a tall building a knife in her mouth carrying a bag on her arm, she slammed in the pavement with a grunt the rain pounding on the solid concrete pathway. She gritted her teeth as her leg clearly shattered throbbed with pain, she began to limp away as she heard gunshots behind her she turned into a dark alleyway hoping to avoid the police.
Unfortunately for her luck was not on her side they saw where she had gone and burst around the corner, she screamed as a bullet slammed into her spine dropping her to the ground just as the police ran over to her with cuffs a metal glowing arm materialised in front of her almost as if it was calling for her, she reached out and grabbed it, she then vanished in a flash of light leaving the bag and knife lying on the ground much to the confusion of the officers.
The girl looked around as stood up, she was standing in a strange black room with stars floating around her. A glowing orb purple orb floated in front of her “Hello it’s a pleasure to meet you?’
The girl growled “Who are you?”
The orb turned away “I suppose you could say I am one of the masters of fate, in case I am the master of yours.”
The girl scowled “What right do you have to dictate my fate?”
The Master of Fate chuckled “Relax I have no intention of causing you ill, in fact I’m offering you a better life, a new identity and if you happen to be put in life threatening danger I will do my best to keep you alive indirectly unfortunately the other Masters of Fate will not be so kind to you.”
The girl frowned “Why are you helping me?”
The Master of Fate grimaced “Look I’m not sure how much I am allowed to interact with you, I will only intervene directly if you do something that threatens this world. I am putting you in one of the most powerful bodies in this world and this means you will do your best not to blow up the world with what you can do.” The Master of Fate said as it started to fade “Note you will have to see a lot of memories coming to you so be careful. Also your new name’s Tempest Shadow by the by tata”
Before the girl could respond she was whisked away as memories assaulted her mind, she was in a pale white room crying and wailing in the hands of two blurry figures, the in the next moment she was in a room bashing some toys together, then in primary school then High School, the her graduation day before enrolling in a Military Academy.
The memory that appeared next through would be unlike any other, the girl looked at her purple arms as her body moved forward, her skin was a dark orchid, she was wearing a dark blue army uniform she then noticed their environs, a dark cave with only lamps to light the way a large came full of weapon depots with barricades on either side, soldiers marching back and forward in similar dark blue uniforms.
Her body walked over to a tall man with dark green skin, the man saluted as he spoke in a deep voice “Commander Tempest we have been investigating these tunnels for days but we have found no sign of any hostiles, are you sure the information command has given us is correct?”
The girl felt her mouth move “Captain Hellfire, Command does not make mistakes like this, the only place they could is in these caves.” Before either could add anything the sound of gunfire began echoing through the caves. The girl sighed as her body scowled “Shit!”
The girl felt her body rush froward as it headed towards the sound of gunfire as soon a a she arrived both her and her body shouted “What the fuck are those!” The girl was stunned at the flying red humanoid creatures wearing strange armour and had strange buglike wings, on their wrists they wore strange bands that had white glowing energy blades sticking out of them.
Her body grabbed a gun and rushed forward firing at the red humanoid creatures, much to her shock the bullets bounced off their armour, then one of the bullets just by chance hit in between the armour causing the attacker to fall from the sky, her body roared “Everyone aim for the weak points in their armour!”
The girl watched as her body and everyone around fired taking out the attacking force, Captain Hellfire ran over to her, he grimaced “Commander this is is an untenable situation, many of our men are dead or dying due to this attack force.”
She gasped as she her body looked over a corpse of one of her body’s men who was torn in half his intestines laying in front of her. Her body then looked over to the enemy troop, she realised at the same time as her body did as it looked at the bands on the creature’s wrists, her body pulled them off and attached them to her own wrists, her body looked at Captain Hellfire. She and her body spoke in unison using the same voice “Captain these are your final orders, you will get our men out of here.”
Captain Hellfire saluted “Yes Commander, I wish you luck.”
Her body nodded to him as she rushed forward into the cave, her body tapped the bands together causing white energy blades to pop out of them as both her body and her roared “I am Commander Tempest Shadow, you cowards stop hiding in the shadows and fight me!”
The red creatures returned but these ones were bigger and large as well as wearing thicker armour. Tempest Shadow rushed forward her blade swinging the creatures that swarmed her, she was tearing through them with her blades at an alarming rate, so faster rate she didn’t even notice her left arm falling off beside her. The creatures began to fall back unable to stand the reckless assault, before they could regroup a large group of creatures similar to them nut in a shade of light blue flew forward.
Tempest collapsed as they adrenaline in her body began to fade, then countless more memories flooded through Tempest’s mind. She woke up with a groan in a beautiful light blue room, a few books sit on the bookshelf as well as a small lamp a huge trunk sat at the end of her bed. She forced herself out of bed “I have to get to work.” She forced herself out of bed her mechanical arm clicking into place, she tossed her green pyjamas onto her bed as she walked into the pale white bathroom, she then walked into the shower turning on the water with a smile.
Her mind began wandering back to the alleyway ruining her good mood, Tempest shook her head as she got out of the shower grabbing a towel lying next to the shower drying herself off, as she walked over to the mirror she smiled at her long rose hair resting upon her muscled shoulders, underneath her moderate bust a set of iron abs showed, she chuckled as walked over to the sink and quickly brushed her teeth before grabbing some clothes out of the pale white drawer. She put on a set of green undergarments before putting on a red shirt and blue sweatpants.
As she walked down the stairs, she walked into the kitchen only to bump into someone, she looked up only to see her own eyes staring at her in shock and confusion. The girl turned Tempest Shadow growled “Shit!”
Tempest Shadow blinked as her copy gigged before bursting into a flash of blue flames revealing a blue skinned female with hardened carapace covering her shoulders, it extended down to cover her arms and chest. She had a pair of buglike wings sticking out of her back, she smiled as gave a small Tempest a small kiss on her cheek “Relax dear it was just a little joke.”
Tempest groaned “Snowy River that wasn’t funny, why are you even here?”
Snowy pouted “I just wanted to see my wife before I had to fill out hive paperwork, you now how boring that is?”
Tempest giggled “Remember when we first met, you were a powerful Queen and I was a recently augmented soldier.”
Snowy grinned “I’m still a powerful Queen, we should have one of our sparring sessions. Anyway I gotta go, I’m a busy Queen.”
Tempest saw her wife to the door and waved goodbye before turning around walked past a small oven and a large steel bench top with drawers underneath, Tempest giggled “I’m married, I just can’t believe I’m married.”
She pulled out a carton of milk out of a pale white fridge, she then opened one of the brown cupboards taking out a box of Weet-bix. She put them down before grabbing a bowl and laying it in front of her, she then crushed the weetbix and then poured milk into the bowl. She returned the milk to her fridge as she grabbed a spoon and began heartily devouring her food, she began to cry surfaced“So good.” Just as she finished her meal she felt a sharp pain in her mind.
Tempest’s Past Life
The red haired girl at the age of five was pulling rotten scraps out of a rusty garbage can, a tall giant of a man stormed out and grabbed her by the her hair “You drily little thief get out of here!”
He threw her onto the footpath, her back slamming into the ground, she forced herself to her feet as she began to run with a fire in her eyes as she thought to herself (My name is Thief)
Present Day
Tempest groaned “I am not that person, I am Tempest Shadow, I have a wife and a job, I have a life.” She then looked at the antique wooden clock attached to the wall “Shit I have to get to work.” She grabbed her bag full of her school paperwork and jumped into her car chuckling slightly as she revved up the engine of the small white buggy (I’ve always wanted one of these.) She began to drive to the school, she then frowned (I wonder if any others in my situation are here?)
She parked in the Gym Teacher’s Car park, Vice-Principal Luna smiled “Tempest Shadow how’s you day been.”
Tempest grinned “Great, I better get ready for the first class.” She walked into the school with a grin, she entered the hallway only to frown as students of different groups glared at each other, Tempest thought to herself (What’s going on in this school!)
Tempest walked into the staff office, she frowned as Mrs Harshvoice one of her fellow teachers groaned “Why do I have to teach those kids, their accents are horrible as if they think speaking that way makes them special.”
Tempest frowned “Who are you talking about?”
Mrs Harshvoice grimaced “Those two apples kids, their accents are horrible and…”
She had frozen as she saw Tempest glaring at her with cold fury “Listen here Harshvoice, I’m going to tell your right now you don’t judge someone for their accent it’s part of who they are. That kind of attitude is rude and bigoted, I don’t know how such a bigot like you could be a teacher!”
Tempest took a deep breath as laid her bag beside her desk, a simple PC sat in front of her, on her left several stacks of tests were neatly piled up ready for marking. She opened the draws from the bottom to the top, the bottom draw was filled with student files from her classes , the second was filled with files for field trips and other events. She frowned as she looked at third which had a lock, she pulled out a key and opened it revealing a glock handgun, she frowned as she then locked it again (So I’m the security officer.) She frowned to herself (It’s double PE last period so I better head to the gym).
She exited the room giving a quick glare at Mrs Harshvoice before leaving the room, she walked through the hallways. She was scowling internally as student shot insults at each other across the hallway, she smiled in relief as she entered the massive empty gym room. She smiled at the two basketball hoops one either side of the massive basketball court, she then looked at the red line in the middle.
She chuckled “I think it’s time for a team building exercise, she walked over to a large metal door and unlocked with a silver key, she sled as she saw thousands dollars worth of gym equipment. Her eyes were drawn to a large pile of over one hundred dodge balls, she grinned a mischievous glint in her eyes “Perfect.”
Hours later in the final two periods of the day, Tempest was standing in front of a huge line of dodgeballs. She grinned as her students piled in, she eyed two girls, one cyan with rainbow hair, the other a light amber with red hair with yellow stripes. Her voice boomed “First I want you all to jog ten laps of the gym in the first periods if you can, those who are exempt from gym should head to the Library and study! Now go!”
Tempest’s eyes were on Rainbow Dash and Sunset who clearly were at the front of the pack, she frowned slightly as they bumped each other. She knew about Rainbow Dash, she was a guaranteed athlete if only she bettered her grades, the one that really interested her was Sunset Shimmer, a student who excelled in almost every class with the exception of History, one she knew would have a bright future if she just dropped that bitch queen demeanour of hers.
After fifth period finished Tempest boomed “Finish the lap your on and then stand at the back wall!” After the last of the nerdy kids finished Tempest looked at them “So this is a teamwork exercise whether you are…”
Sunset Shimmer walked over to her with a grin “Good luck” she then stands in the corner.
Tempest shook her head “Ignore that spoilt brat, if she doesn’t want to take part in the team building exercise so be it! Now as I was saying whether you are a jock or a nerd or a punk or a cool kid you will need to work together for this next task, all of you are going to try and hit me with one of the dodgeballs, go!”
Tempest frowned as the more athletic and fit kids left the weaker kids behind (They’re already failing). Rainbow Dash grabbed one of the balls and pegged it at her head, she simply moved her head to the side so the ball flew past, her frown grew deeper as she continued to duck, dodge and weave avoiding each shot. Sunset grinning all the while.
Within in ten minutes all the balls lay behind her, she boomed “That was most pathetic attempt at teamwork I have ever seen, you have to work together, rely on each other’s strengths and cover up each others weaknesses, we will repeat this for the rest of the period until you can land a single hit on me or until the bell rings at the end of the period.”
She returned the balls to their places and after another ten minutes she sighed as she approached all of them “What is the problem? Why are you all acting the way you are?!”
Rainbow growled “Trixie and her nerdy crew are slow, Rarity and the fashionista group don’t want to get their hands dirty, the cool kids think they are too cool for the rest of us and don’t forget that everyone wants the glory of taking you down.”
Tempest stomped “Fine how about a little incentive, if you fail to this by the end of the period, you will all have to write a one thousand word essay on teamwork since you don’t understand it!” Sunset scowled in the corner as the students intimidated by the threat started to try and work out the differenced between each other, with the help of the nerds they better co-ordinated their fire, with help of the fashionistas they were better at predicting Tempest’s movements.
Tempest chuckled as Sunset growled in the corner as a ball hit her in the chest, she smiled “You hit me impressive you had one minute left, now you see that despite some of the difference between you when you work together you can achieve great things. Now remember that just because someone is in a different group than you are in doesn’t mean that you can’t be friends.” She left the room with a smile not noticing that Sunset Shimmer was glaring daggers at her back.
Tempest wakes up in a massive room easily as large as a city, blue lines carrying energy ran along the dark blue walls, roof and floor. She growled “Where am I?!”
A tall blue female with hardened carapace covering her shoulders, it extended down to cover her arms and chest. A pair of bug wings extended down her back, she spoke in a light tone “Hello I’m Queen Snowy River, Queen of the Aqua Hive it’s a pleasure to meet you?”
Tempest growled as she forced herself to a sitting position “How do I know you are not working with them?!”
Snowy pouted “We are not the bad guys.”
Tempest chuckled “Okay I believe you, just stop pouting at me like that and … What happened to my arm?!” Her left arm was made of a strange blue glowing metal, yet despite the metal composition it had all the flexibility of a normal arm.
Snowy frowned “You didn’t notice but you lost your left arm, we replaced your arm with cybernetic as well as installing cybernetic systems in your body which release you bodies true potential power.”
Tempest looked around “What is this room?”
Snowy said “Well this is the practice room, it’s just to get you I control of your new strength as well as allow us to get an estimate of your strength.” She raised a hand and a glowing pad appeared before them, she tapped a button and a blue tree made out of the same material as the floor appeared before them. Snowy smiled “The material that makes up this room can assume the traits of any any object we desire including the amount of force required to break said object, it’s how we measure strength, punch that as hard as you can and see how strong you are.”
Tempest nodded as she smashed her right fist into the tree causing it to shatter, Snowy smiled “Good job alright now I will continue making stronger and harder things to break until you fail to shatter something.” Snowy pressed another button then a boulder appeared Tempest shattered it with a single punch, then a steel wall which she also shattered.
Tempest grinned “Is that the best you got?!”
Snowy grinned “What you did back there against that horde impressed me and even now you continue to do so, so let’s kick it up a notch this is the elite stuff now.” A huge hill formed in front of her, Snowy blinked as Tempest smashed the hill into dust, she then summoned the Colossal Fortress the largest castle ever built, a replica of a grand fortress that one of her ancestors shattered with a single blow, her eyes widened as Tempest shattered “Your amazing, there is only one more level and that is saved for the Queens of the Hive, still I am willing to give you a chance at it.”
The Grand Mountain formed up taking up the entire space in front of her, the Queen eyed Tempest “I have been able to break this mountain but it took me a fair amount of power.” Tempest grinned slamming her fist into the massive mountain caused it to explode, Snowy’s eyes widened “Impossible.”
She turned to Tempest who grinned “Well looks like we’re done here.”
Snowy shouted after regaining her composure “Stop, we need to do control practice, it would be really bad if you wrecked our beautiful hive.”
Tempest groaned “Fine.”
Snowy giggled “We need you to hold back and if you can manage to not shatter a tree, well you are free to wander the hive.” Tempest nodded and Snowy summoned a tree, Tempest took a deep breath and struck it as lightly as she could only for it to shatter.
Snowy pressed the button, the tree shattered again and again and again. Tempest scowled “Why can’t I do this?”
Snowy placed a hand on her chest with a smile “Focus, control you breathing and your thoughts. Your thoughts are focusing on utterly obliterating you opponent, instead focus on a sparring match, training, practise and restraint.” Tempest took a deep breath and with her mind focused the tree didn’t shatter but it did splinter.
Snowy smiled “Good now let’s see if you can do it without damaging the tree.” After twenty more tries, she able to reliably not shatter the tree with a punch.
Tempest groaned “Finally.”
Snowy smiled “It will be worth it for view, trust me.” Tempest grumbled as they exited the room, as soon as Tempest stepped out her eyes widened as huge crystal pillars slowly bobbed up and down in the air twinkling as they reflected the light of of the crystal clear lake below them, the dark blue walks of the cave only adding to the spectacle. Snowy grinned “I knew you’d like it, come on there’s more to show you.”
Snowy dragged Tempest away, by the time Tempest recovered her wits they were standing before a glowing crystal disk, Tempest asked confused “What does this do?’
Snowy dragged her onto to the disk and a small hologram of a keyboard appeared she pressed a few letters and suddenly a huge crystal matrix materialised around them as they began to move, Snowy smiled “These are transport disks that travel between the floating islands, like everything they a powered by potential or as we call it potentia, it exist the air all around and the physical form of latent potentia, they make us what we are and if you unlock your true potential you can become stronger. We use our tech to unlock our potential.”
Tempest asked “What are you?”
Snowy transformed with a burst of blue flame into a perfect copy of Tempest “You humans called us Changelings in your history but we call ourselves the Fae or sometimes more colloquially known as Faeries.”
Tempest frowned as Snowy turned back to normal “Did you kidnap children?”
Snowy scowled “Only those who would have died with what you called medicine at the time and then replaced them with our own, we gave up our own children to save yours, one who would have died otherwise and then you foolishly kicked out more of your own as you wrongly assumed the bad kids were ours and we took them in as well, many even agreed to be converted into members of our race!”
Tempest’s shoulders slumped “Sorry.”
Snowy sighed “You didn’t know, it’s time for you to see our facilities.” Tempest followed the Queen not knowing what she would truly find down there.
Tempest Shadow exited the building after dismissing her students, she smiled “What a beautiful day.”
A quaintly odd voice spoke “Indeed, even if it could be a little more chaotic but that’s neither here nor there.” She turned around to see a strange man wearing a polka dot suite with an atrocious light green tie as well as a purple top hat and sky blue boots, the man sighed as he waved his bright red cane around “I hate having to be serious like this.”
Tempest frowned “Who are you?”
The man grinned “My name is Discord” he then frowned “I’m not here for jokes, you see tomorrow a girl named Twilight Sparkle will turn up, she has purple skin, she will likely be awkward and uncomfortable. I just want you to keep her safe from a distance.”
Tempest raised an eyebrow “Why me?”
Discord smiled “Simple, I picked up on your energy signature immediately and well you are an odd one yourself. I feel power within you, that no-one can truly understand even the one who gifted it to you. I believed I could trust you I felt a kindred spirit within you, that you were once an outcast just like me.”
She frowned as the strange man clicked his fingers and vanished, she then shook her head “That was weird.”
She turned around and walked to her car only to see Celestia and Luna, Celestia was standing next to a white muscle car while Luna stood next to a dark blue buggy. Tempest smiled “Hello my grand nieces, what can I do for you two.”
Celestia rolled her eyes “Luna wants to take you out for a night on the town, she believes it isn’t good for you to be cooped up in your home all the time.”
Tempest sighed “True I do spend a little too much time at home, very well.”
Luna was grinning like a madman “Great let me just call Berry Punch, we can all go out and get drunk together.”
Tempest’s eyes widened as she looked at Luna, Luna pouted “You agreed.”
Tempest growled “Fine , she better not vomit on me while we are there and we are taking my car!”
Now that the exhilaration wore off she realised her car was a small green car with four seats, Luna looked around “Your car is kind of small.”
Tempest raised an eyebrow “So!” Luna said nothing, Tempest asked even as she fumed internally “Anyway, where does Berry Punch live?”
Luna smiled “Ten on Cherry Street in the suburb of Ponyville.” Tempest nodded as they silently drove to Berry’s place, Luna walked up to the door and Berry left with a maddening grin.
Berry grinned as she saw Tempest “Luna, you got miss stick in the mud to come out and have some fun on the town!”
Tempest growled “I am only coming because Luna pouted at me. Also I didn’t think she’d bring you!”
Berry Punch purred “You know you love me.”
Tempest growled “As soon as we get to the pub, I’m so going to drink you under the table, this I promise!”
Berry Punch grinned “Your on.”
Luna grinned wolfishly “You better include me too.”
Tempest sighed as she continued to drive wondering how she got dragged into the mess, they arrived at at dingy looking pub Tempest looked at them “Is this the place?”
Berry nodded enthusiastically as she exited the car and burst into the pub, Tempest grimaced as she and Luna entered the pub. Tempest instantly began looking for potential exits as she soon as she stepped in the building, she noticed the windows were boarded up and many rough looking individuals were scattered across the abused tables and bar stools. As soon as Tempest sat next to Luna and Berry Punch, Berry Punch shouted “Salty Pete, three shots please.”
Luna smiled “I’m paying tonight.”
Salty Pete grinned “Arr my favourite customers and you brought a guest.”
Tempest frowned scowled “Give me the shot.”
Salty Pete chuckled “And she’s got fire too, I like that, three shots coming right up.”
Tempest turned around as she noticed a big man walking toward them, he grinned as looked at Tempest “Can I do anything you tonight, maybe have some fun at my place?”
Salty just walked out and put three shots on the table, she instantly gulped the shot down much to the shock of the two women beside her, she then shook her head “No thanks I’m a married woman.”
The man grinned as he put this hand on her metal shoulder “Come on the Colonel will show you what real fun is, whatever your partner can do is nothing compared to me.”
Tempest let out a deep guttural growl “Get your hand off me!”
The Colonel grinned “Or what?”
Tempest stood up, turned around and grabbed his head with her right arm, she lifted him up in the air before slamming his head into the ground, she then threw him in the air and then as he fell down kicked him in the back sending him flying into the brick wall of the building, she spat “I’ll do that!” She then glared at every other tough looking guy and girl in the room “Anyone else want a piece of me?!”
After getting no response, she sat down. Berry Punch shouted “That was awesome!”
Luna blinked “How did you do that?”
Tempest grinned “I’ve fought in wars you know, anyway ready for the drinking competition.”
Salty chuckled“You three having a drinking competition, I’ll get out the vodka and the beer.” He then shouted “These three are having a drinking competition, is everyone ready to make a bet!”
Everyone in the bar save the one unconscious guy still stuck to the wall “YEAH!”
Before Tempest could even blink a shot was put in front of all three of them, Berry Punch and Luna looked at her, the three of them grinned “Bottom’s up!”
About an hour later with twenty empty shot glasses in front of her, Tempest who was not even slightly buzzed much to the shock of everyone in the room grinned at Berry Punch who had the same amount of shot glasses in front of her “You ready for another round.”
Berry Punch slurred “YYYeess ttottally.” Luna meanwhile was lying face first in front of fifteen shot glasses.
After one final shot Berry Punch collapsed to the floor, Tempest took her own short with a grin “I’ll be here next week” she hefted the both of her drinking buddies up onto her shoulders and walked to the her car. She took Berry Punch home first, she opened the door using Berry Punch’s key, she carried the woman through the surprisingly clean house, she grabbed labelled vomit bucket and put it next to Berry’s bed before laying her comfortably in her bed.
She then returned to Luna to the apartment Celestia and Luna shared, Celestia walked out to see Tempest carrying Luna. Celestia shouted “What happened?!”
Tempest rubbed the back of her head “We had a drinking competition, she had fifteen me and Berry Punch both had twenty one shots.”
Celestia sighed “She and Berry have to be at the school tomorrow with the Fall Formal coming up in a day or two, urghh getting her out of bed will be a drag.”
Tempest helped Celestia get Luna into a bed and then returned to her car, she smiled “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Celestia smiled “As will I.” Tempest smiled as she drove home eager to do this the following week.
Tempest woke up with a smile “Last night was great…” she then frowned “I need to find this Twilight girl and keep her safe, if she is around.” After having a quick shower, she put on a blue shirt and black pants. She walked down the stairs and had a similar breakfast to the previous day. Just as she exited the building Snowy River knocked her over giving her a kiss, Tempest groaned “I love you honey but why are you here?”
Snowy smiled “I want to see where you work.”
Tempest frowned ‘”Fine but don’t disturb my work today.”
Snowy purred as she laid her hand on erg chest “It will be just fine trust me.” Tempest grumbled as she followed her wife to the car, Snow frowned “Why do use such primitive technology?”
Tempest rolled her eyes “I have told you we haven’t discovered it yet and humans are too concerned with petty things like money and power to improve themselves in such ways.”
Snowy nodded in agreement as she took the passenger seat next to Tempest, Tempest smiled her wife’s yellow shirt and white pants as well as a pair of black boots. Tempest smiled “Looking good.”
Snowy grinned wickedly “You haven’t seen my dresses yet, those will truly wow you.” Tempest blushed slightly as she drove through the busy Canterlot streets, when she parked the car, Snowy got our first and smiled ‘This building looks nice, quaint even.”
She heard a voice “Hello Tempest, ready for lessons.”
She turned to see Principal Celestia, Tempest smiled “I am assisting in the formal planning since the gym is in use for the Fall Formal as such I won’t be teaching.”
Luna grumbled as she walked up “Better you then me, urghh my head aches.”
Snowy walked up “Who are these two?”
Luna and Celestia raised an eyebrow, Tempest smiled at her grand nieces as she wrapped her arm around her wife “This is my wife, Snowy River” she then turned to Snowy River “These are my grand nieces Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna.”
Snowy River smiled warmly “It’s pleasure to meet the family of my wife.”
Celestia smiled “It’s a pleasure to meet you as well.”
Luna grinned “I wonder if she’s as good a drinker as you.”
Tempest laughed as Celestia glared at her younger sibling “This is going to be the best Fall Formal ever.” The four of them walked in the school, a few students gave Snowy an odd look or two but most didn’t seem to care.
Tempest and Snowy spilt off form the other two as they headed to the office, Tempest cast a glare at Miss Harshvoice only to walked to her desk with Snowy following behind her. After checking to make sure her firearm was secure, she turned to the desk beside her to see Berry Punch asleep on the desk, she shrugged as she grabbed a few papers, Snowy asked “Where are we going now?”
Tempest was about to speak when she saw a purple girl with sapphire blue hair that had streaks of moderate violet and brilliant rose helping a pale yellow girl with light pink hair. Tempest frowned “We are going to follow her discretely.”
Snowy frowned “Why?”
Tempest frowned “Because an unworldly being told me to and I’d rather not upset said being if I can help it.” Snowy nodded as they walked into an empty classroom nearby, they both looked at each other before closing there eyes and then turning completely invisible. They proceeded to walk through the classroom walls, Tempest smiled “I must say this tech always impressed, it even muffles our voices.”
Snowy River laughed “How do you think we deliver presents every year, on Christmas Day.”
Tempest blinked “Wait you Fae are Santa Claus?”
Snowy laughed “Well yes, we exist all over the world and give presents to good kids.”
Tempest frowned “Right, well we better go and find that girl.” They walked through the building avoiding the people as they saw the purple girl, they see her walking into the gym and signing to be in the running for the Fall Formal Princess. Twilight then left the gym, Tempest groaned as they followed her “Urghh this just a got a lot more complicated.”
Snowy blinked “Why?”
Tempest growled “Because Sunset Shimmer also wants to be the Fall Formal Princess and she will do anything aside from killing her opposition to win.”
Snow grimaced “That bad huh.”
Tempest frowned “Yes a right brat but don’t worry she won’t hurt physically at least. For now let’s follow her.” The follow into the Library only for her to slam her fingers on the computer, drop books everywhere and utterly fail at everything.
Snowy groaned “She’s hopeless.”
Tempest facepalmed “Tell me about it.”
Snowy frowned “You should go and check on the prep, maybe even help the pink girl I’ll keep an eye on her.”
Tempest gave a kiss “Thanks Honey.” Snowy simply smiled before beckoning her wife to leave, Tempest ran into the gym and hid behind a curtain before removing her invisibility. She walked over to the pink girl “Pinkie Pie, you’ve done a impressive job.” Several tables were set up, covered in yellow with blue polka dot fabric as well as colourful balloons everywhere.
Pinkie Pie bounced over “Hi, Miss Shadow where were you?’
Tempest frowned “I was watching a girl who believe is named Twilight Sparkle, I am worried Miss Shimmer will try something.”
Pinkie Pie frowned “She is a real meany pants.”
Tempest shook her head “Enough of that, let’s put up some more balloons.” Pinkie grinned as the pair began decorating the hall with balloons, streamers and other decorations.
Hours later, Pinkie Pie bounced up and down “That was fun, let’s do it again sometime.”
Tempest smiled “I’m here to help.” She smiled as the pink girl bounced out of the gym, she turned around to see Snowy enter , Tempest frowned “Is Twilight alright?”
Snowy smiled “She seemed to be, although Snips and Snails were taking photos of her.”
Tempest groaned “Those two are Miss Shimmer’s lackeys, they are probably going to take those photos to her. Speaking of which where is she?”
Snowy frowned “She’s sleeping in the Library.”
Tempest frowned “Then we will too, we can’t leave her there alone can we.” Snowy nodded as they walked into the Library smiling as they saw Twilight sleeping next to a purple dog and they activated their cloaking before quickly descending next to slumber leaning on a bookshelf, neither realising that a series of strange events would take place the following day.
Tempest and Snowy bolted up only to see students walking around, Tempest scowled “We need to get up.”
Snowy stood up “Do you have anything to do today or should we check on Twilight?’
Tempest grimaced as she pushed herself to her feet “I’m not even supposed to be in today but I need to watch Twilight.”
Snowy smiled “Then let’s go before she gets into any trouble shall we.” Tempest smiled back as the two exited as they walked through the wall.
Tempest smiled “Got to love the transparency.” Snowy giggled as the two walked through the empty hallways, just as they began to pass the lunch room the heard what seemed to be singing.
They blinked as Twilight was singing and dancing, the other girls dancing along with her. Tempest and Snowy began to clap as well, as they smiled at the singing happening in front of them. Unbeknownst to them Sunset Shimmer was plotting outside of the room.
After the musical number was over Tempest and Snowy saw Snips, Snails and Sunset heading towards the gym. They followed them only to gasp in shock as they destroyed the decorations with Sunset taking a few pictures before leaving. Tempest snarled as the brats ran out of the room “Those little shits, I should go and send them to hell.”
Snowy placed her hand on her shoulder “Calm down we’ll get them.” They scowled as Sunset returned as she chucked a few things into the bin before running off, Snowy and Tempest became visible, they scowled as they found a few photos which had Twilight like cut-outs in them.
They turned invisible as they heard footsteps, the watched as Luna walked in and gasped at the destruction. Luna then scowled “Who did this?!”
Sunset gave the most innocent look Tempest and Snowy had ever seen much to their disgust “I found these photos.” Luna left the room as Sunset smiled as she summoned her two lackies and entered the sports storeroom, they saw Flash Sentry passing by.
Tempest became visible and walked over to him “Flash Sentry, I wish you to show these pictures to Vice-Principal Luna, Miss Sparkle is being framed by Miss Shimmer. Also don’t tell Luna that I gave these to you, tell her you found them.”
Tempest then walked away turning invisible as soon as she was out of sight of Flash, Snowy smiled “Well we fixed one issue.” They stayed there and smiled as Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity cleaned up the gym before setting up up everything.
Later we attended the Fall Formal visible this time as we hadn’t eaten all day, Tempest smiled “Well today has been good, we did well didn’t we.”
Snowy smiled “Yes and look they’re about to announce the winner.”
Principal Celestia smiles “The winner is … Twilight Sparkle!” Twilight smiles waving as a the crown is placed on her head.
Just as everyone clapping, Twilight shouted “Spike” then she and her friends burst out the door. Tempest and Snowy bolted after them, Tempest roared as she ran and Snowy ran out to see Sunset holding a sledgehammer to the portal, Twilight was holding Spike as she stared her down. Tempest and Snowy ran behind the girls as Twilight shouted “I will not give you my crown, Equestria can survive without me!”
Sunset shrugged as she dropped the hammer only for Snips to grab Twilight’s crown off her head and then throws it to Sunset. Sunset grinned as she put on the crown only to scream as the magic flared around her twisting her body into a huge flaming red demon. Sunset let out a dark deep cackle “I feel fantastic” she then turned to Snips and Snails “you two have done good work so here’s a little gift.” Sunset fired out two powerful beams transforming the Snips into a blue flaming demon while transforming Snails into an orange demon. She then hypnotised the other students.
Tempest smiled as she and Snowy rushed at the two transformed freshmen easily bringing them down with a few quick blows. They then turned around to see Sunset about to fire a ball of energy at the girls when a rock dislodged the crown causing it to land on the ground. Twilight then picked up the crown and the six girls began glowing, Twilight eyes narrowed at Sunset “You may have magic now but you don’t have the greatest magic of all friendship.” Snowy, Tempest and Sunset watched with varying degrees of shock as the girls grew pony ears and their hair turned into pony tails, three even gained a pair of wings.
Then suddenly a huge Rainbow Wave slammed into Sunset leaving her back to normal lying in a crater in the centre of the school courtyard. Snowy smiled “Well alls well that ends well.” Tempest meanwhile looked towards the hole eyeing the crying girl in the centre of it wondering what she should do next.
Tempest watched as Twilight looked down at Sunset, she spoke with a determined voice “You will never rule Equestria, you have shown everyone what is in you heart.”
Sunset cried “I’m sorry, I just wanted to her to love me.”
Twilight frowned “Who?” Sunset stayed quiet as she sobbed, Twilight shook her head “You can seek out friendship or you can be alone forever, I’m leaving the choice in your hands.”
Sunset looked up “I don’t anything about friendship.”
Twilight smiled as she pulled he out of the crater “Maybe not but I know some people who can teach you.”
All of sudden a rock pelting into Sunset’s back causing her to wince , boisterous voice shouted “Take that Shimmer!”
Tempest instantly turned around with a deadly scowl “Trixie, detention, tomorrow!” Trixie froze as she nodded, Tempest walked over to Sunset with a smile “Look at me Sunset, the next few months will be hard but you are strong you can make it through this with friends on your side.”
Sunset asked tear streaming from her eyes “Why are you helping me, I’m a monster?”
Tempest shook her head “A monster doesn’t feel regret, I can feel it within in you, you never went that far before. I am an ex-soldier, I have fought in wars, killed without hesitation I am the real monster here. Speaking of which let me check something.” Tempest’s left eye glowed with power as she looked over Sunset, she then walked behind and frowned “You’re hurt, where you going to tell anyone about this?”
Sunset whimpered as Tempest removed her jacket and rolled up the back of her shirt revealing two deep scars on her back “No.”
Tempest frowned “Look you need help and other are willing to help you if you let them, you have second chance.” Sunset began to cry again, Tempest lowered her shirt walked around to her front as she cleared her tears, she asked with a small compassionate smile “Do you have a phone?”
Sunset nodded and pulled it out, Tempest told Sunset her phone number. After Sunset put the number on her phone Tempest smiled “I need to go home and get ready for the next day.”
As soon as she walked over to her wife, Snowy frowned “Why did you help her?”
Tempest sighed “Everyone makes mistakes in this life and left alone it can be the death of you” she then frowned “she wants to make a change and I wish to help her.”
Snowy smiled at her “Well wish you luck,I gotta get home you know how much paperwork I have to do, let’s hope when I return there isn’t a magical incident like this one.” Tempest nodded as she returned home for the night.
It was the next day, Tempest was smiling as she entered the school. Her smile quickly turned to a scowl as she saw Sunset pinned to a locker by Gilda, Gilda then pulled her fist back only for it to slam into a metal arm her fingers bending at odd angles as she screamed, Tempest scowled “Miss Griffon, you have a months worth of detention for this starting today!”
Sunset cried “A month, that’s not fair I deserve this!”
Tempest frowned “If I let her get away with it for you she will think it’s okay for her to do it again, beside this is the tenth time since she enrolled at the school. If Principal Celestia found out about this she would be suspended or expelled.” Sunset nodded glumly, Tempest shook her head “What’s your first class?”
Sunset groaned “History.”
Tempest sighed “Let’s hope Berry Punch isn’t drunk today, I’ll take you to class, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Sunset looked at her with a mix of shock and confusion “Why?”
Tempest smiled “You aren’t a bad kid, you just have made some mistakes it happens to everyone.”
Sunset felt tears in her eyes “I have terrorised this school for years, I have hurt so many people, I have torn friendships apart.”
Tempest turned away “Your survived, that girl was clearly not from here and neither are you. Do you have a place to stay, a proper home?” Sunset looked away from her, Tempest frowned “That tells me all you need to know, you going to come to my place and stay with me, I have quite a few guest rooms.”
Sunset eyes widened in shock “Why are helping me so much?!”
Tempest took a deep breath days stealing and running away on the streets. “It’s because you need help and you remind me a lot of myself, there are some parts of my past that would have been better if I had someone to care for me.” Tempest smiled “Come let’s get you to History.”
Sunset nodded numbly getting out her books as she thought about the question she couldn’t get out of her head (Why is she helping me?)
Tempest then began to guide Sunset to her History Class. As several students scowled at Sunset, Tempest gave them deadly glares, she smiled as she opened the door and let Sunset in as Berry Punch smiled “Hello Tempest what are you doing here?”
Tempest frowned “Sunset was attacked by Gilda, I gave her a month’s detention for the repeat offence of attacking a fellow student.”
Berry Punch nodded “I will make sure no-one hurts her, you can count on me.”
Tempest smiled “Thanks Berry Punch” She then smiled at Sunset “I’ll see you at break, okay.” Tempest smiled as she walked off happy to have done the right thing for someone for the first time in her life.
Thief stood there perched on the roof of a building wearing a dark blue body suit, she lowered herself down with a small rope into the centre of the building with several glass case full of jewels. She pulled down her infra-red goggles picking up a set of security lasers that would set of an alarm as soon as they were touched, she carefully bended around them as she pulled out a knife which she used to open the glass container carrying a massive diamond.
Just as she removed the diamond, a guard walked in and saw her. Before he could even make a sound a knife was lodged in his throat, she then snuck over and grabbed her knife before escaping with the rope. She smiled as she held the diamond, only to see a helicopter looking at her pointing machine guns at her, Thief grinned as she pulled a grenade out of her pocket and threw it at the copper blades, she began to walk away as it crashed it sent a massive blast of energy sending debris flying past her.
An hour later she arrived at an old looking building, she walked in to see several armed guards. She grinned, she was now wearing a plain blue shirt, green pants and black boots, she tossed the man the diamond “Now where’s my payment, Don Roderick?!”
A fat man walked forward “Did you really think I would pay you for this, you must be daft, men shoot her!” Thief closed her eyes as she threw a flash-bang down realising a flash of light , she then opened her eyes and slitted his throat of the nearest guy before shooting the others around her filling them with lead.
The Don opened his eyes only to gasp in horror as she saw a gun pointed at him, Thief gave him a maddening grin “Lights out.” A bullet pierced his skull sending the fat man to the ground, she pulled out the diamond from his pocket and placed it in her own. She grinned as heard the voice of the top investigator in the state outside, she she pulled out her grapple hook and perched on the roof “Must have followed me, looks like it’s my lucky day.”
The top investigator walked in with several armed guards, one of the guards frowned “Inspector Roger, this area is not safe.”
Inspector Roger chuckled “That’s why your here…” he then frowned as he walked over to the body “Don Rodrigo, one of the most feared Crime Bosses in the City. To think someone could do this to him.”
Thief grinned as she threw her rope down and climbed down carefully, she then pressed a button closing the roof and doors leaving them in complete darkness. Then a barrage of gunfire tore apart all of Inspector Roger’s guards, then the light turned only to Roger to see Thief walking towards him with a scowl, he scowled at her “You killed my men!”
Thief scowled back “They were in my way, as are you so you have to die!” She threw a knife into his throat as he dropped to the ground as he gagged she then lifted his body up and walked to the dock placing his body on a wooden raft, she then placed a timed explosive in his mouth followed by removing her knife form his throat and kicked the raft onto the water. She then waited until it was far enough it out before pulling a detonator out and obliterating any evidence Inspector Roger was ever here.
She left heading to her local black market dealer where she sold the diamond for a considerable sum, she then walked to the local orphanage with a smile. She knocked on the door and then left a huge bag of money with a letter, that read (Anonymous donation)
Tempest walked out of her office at the start of recess, she walked down to the cafeteria. She saw Sunset lining up for food, she joined the line behind her “Hello Sunset.”
Sunset jumped “As she turned around Miss Shadow you scared me?”
Tempest smiled as rested her hand on the teen’s shoulder “Call me Tempest, if you don’t mind.”
Sunset stammered ”B-but i-isn’t…”
Tempest pushed the girl forward so they kept up with the line “I’m not an incredibly formal person, at my age formalities are foolish things.”
Sunset raised an eyebrow “You don’t look a day over forty.”
Tempest chuckled “Funny I’m actually ninety three years old, I was thirty at the end of World War Two” she then frowned “Still remember the gunfire.” Sunset and a few kids who overhead were gobsmacked at the revelation. Tempest shook her head “Never mind that just know I’m with you to the end of the line.”
Sunset stood there processing all of the information she had just received, she had been just offered a home by a ninety three year old woman that looked like she was still in her prime. Granny Smith smiled “What would ya like?”
Sunset shook her head and looked up smiling weakly “Um I’d like a chicken salad please?”
Granny Smith let out a small chuckle “So you’ve remembered ya manners Ah see, good.” Granny Smith put the food on her plate before she walked away, only to smile at Tempest “Tempest mah good friend, it’s been years.”
Tempest chuckled as she rubbed her right shoulder over a scar “You were always a great nurse, you treated me well.”
Granny Smith smiled as she put an egg burger on her plate alongside some vegetables “Never grow old Tempest it hurts.”
Tempest grinned “I doubt that would be any issue.”
Sunset meanwhile had just taken a seat, only for five girls to join her at a table, Sunset frowned “Why are you here?”
Rarity smiled as she rested her hand softly on her shoulder “We are here to help you, you need friends to assist you during tough time.”
Rainbow grinned “You are an outstanding athlete, I’d be glad to test my skills against yours in a game of soccer.”
Pinkie Pie shook her head before turning to Sunset with an overly enthusiastic grin as she shouted “Before we do any of that we have to throw you a party!”
Before any of the others could speak, Tempest sat down next to Sunset “You have some friends I see.”
Rainbow asked “Are you really ninety three years old.”
Rarity scowled “Rainbow, that was very rude, you don’t ask about a lady’s age.”
Tempest burst into raucous laughter, after a few deep breaths she grinned “I’m no lady, I’m a fighter and yes Rainbow I am ninety three years old.”
Even Pinkie Pie the usually unfazed girl was speechless, Tempest raised an eyebrow “Swallowing flies are you?’
Sunset frowned “How can you possibly be as young as you are?”
Tempest smiled “Same reason I could face off against your lackies yesterday, I am cybernetically enhanced. I’m not even sure how many changes were made to me to be honest.”
Rarity blinked “How can you be so calm about that, you have no idea what they did to you, they could have brainwashed you or even have removed your brain and put it in a jar.”
Tempest frowned “And if they did, what does it matter, I’m too old and lived too long to worry about the idea of that anymore. Besides the person who I was during those years was not happy, I share the tales with the Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna.”
Fluttershy squeaked as Applejack raised an eyebrow, Tempest smiled “Their grandmother took me in as her sister, I am their great Aunt.” Once again everyone at the table had their jaw drop to the floor, before they could ask any question the bell rang and Tempest left to do some paperwork.
Tempest was sitting in her office filling out some paperwork, she never had classes early in the day, she hummed as she filled out a paper after paper. She sighed as the bell for lunch shattered her concentration, she frowned as Trixie turned up in the office “Are you ready for detention?”
Trixie nodded “Yes Miss Shadow.”
Tempest scowled “Now, where is Gilda?!” Trixie’s eyes widened as recalled, she pulled a smoke bomb and detonated it before bolting out of the room. Tempest coughed as the smoke began to clear, she roared “Get back here Trixie!” She bolted through the hallways, she turned to a few students “Did you see where Trixie went?”
She blinked as she heard Trixie shout out "Help someone!" she ran in the direction only to see Gilda holding a machete with Dumbbell and his lackeys, Trixie was standing in front of Sunset.
Gilda roared "Get out of my way!" Tempest dissapeared in a flash of movement before grabbing the machete and ripping it out of Gilda's hands. She scowled "Give me one reason why I shouldn't tell the Principal about this!"
A voice spoke "Because I'm already here." she turned to Gilda "You will report to my office now!" She then took a deep breath before smiling "Thank you Tempest, I request you take both Trixie and Sunset home to their parents, then go home yourself you deserve a rest."
Tempest as she guided the two kids to her car, she then took Trixie home first, she carried the stunned Trixie out of the car. She knocked on the door which opened shortly after revealed a tall blue skinned man with a magician's hat of his own. Tempest frowned "I am Tempest Shadow, I am here to return you daughter home!"
The man frowned "Why?"
Tempest sighed "One of our students smuggled a machete onto the school and attacked two students, one of them was your daughter.." before he could angry Tempest said in a calm voice "the perpetrator will be expelled at the minimum if not arrested!
The man spoke gruffly as he took his daughter from her "Good." Temepst sighed as he slammed the door behind him before she could speak, she walked back to the car . She got in, she then turned to Sunset and asked “So Sunset where do you live?”
Sunset sighed “I have a small wooden shack in the Canterlot forest.” Tempest nodded and began heading to the forest, Tempest got to see the massive brown tree, their brackishness covered in thick green leaves.
Sunset smiled “This way.” Tempest followed her, she frowned as she saw a crudely built wooden building. Sunset let out a forced chuckle as she grabbed a few clothes off a makeshift wooden clothes line “Home Sweet Home.”
Tempest frowned “Have you got everything?”
Sunset shook hook her head as she went into the shack and brought a few items out, a plain bag and a small box full of books. Sunset smiled “That’s it.”
Tempest frowned internally knowing that Sunset had so little, she resolved to get more personal items later. She guided Sunset to the car and began the drive to her home. Sunset’s eyes widened as she looked at the pretty white two story house that was to be her new home, Tempest smiled “You like, well you’ll like it more when we get inside.”
Sunset’s jaw dropped as she looked around, in addition to the marvellous yet quaint kitchen there was polished wooden table with polished wooden chairs. A large entertainment space with three large couches and a massive TV on massive wooden table.
Tempest smiled as she beckoned the girl upstairs, Sunset followed her to the upstairs room. She looked around the light blue room, Tempest smiled “This is my room, comer with me.” Sunset followed as she opened another door which lead to a hallway with multiple rooms, Tempest smiled as she opened a door to a pale white room with a massive Queen double bed resting against the wall, Sunset walked in and left her stuff next to it. Sunset frowned “Why so many rooms and why are they connected to your bedroom?”
Tempest sighed “This used to be a military building containing tons of special operatives but fell out of service, the military offered me this place as my home after I left let’s say. As for why I have the end room it used to be the room for the scout as they could report any issues to the rest, as of now I’m one of the strongest people in Canterlot so I take the front room to protect any once else sating here from an attack.”
Tempest then smiled “We’ll go and get you stuff to make this room yours tomorrow, after all it is the weekend.”
Sunset smiled ‘Thanks Tempest for offering me a proper place to call home.”
It was the next morning, Tempest was sitting in the kitchen with Sunset and Snowy. Tempest smiled as she slowly ate her Weetbix, she swallowed as turned to Snowy “Would you like to come with us as we buy Sunset here some personal items?”
Snowy cast a glare at Sunset “Why are you helping her again?!” Sunset ran behind Tempest.
Tempest scowled “Snowy she is an orphan, a lot of what she did likely is a result of that!”
Snowy looked away ashamed for a few moments before turning back “I’ll come.”
Tempest smiled “Good, I have to have a quick shower before we go?”
Sunset frowned as the two were left alone asked “How did you two beat Snips and Snails?! They were powered by magic, it should have been impossible!”
Snowy sighed “Do you want the short answer or the long answer?”
Sunset laid back in her chair “Give me both.”
Snowy nodded “Very well the short answer is we have highly advanced cybernetic enhancements that allow us to access all of our potential.”
Sunset frowned “That doesn't make much sense, potential energy doesn’t do that?’
Snowy smiled “Ah you get it good, the short answer is more for those who don’t understand science, the truth is our cybernetics are powered by a powerful force we have called potentia. The truth of the matter is we know very little about it as it is incredibly powerful and every living thing has it, it can generate power, turn a normal human into a super soldier and so many other things, as for how our best scientists have studied it for millions of years and we are no closer to an answer as to how it does what it does.”
Sunset sighed “Okay can you tell me how your cybernetics work then?”
Snowy smiled happy to have a human who can understand this “That is simple we use it to unleash the inner potentia in a loving creature the more potentia it has the more the cybernetics can get out of the body, in the case of Tempest at a minimum she can easily shatter mountains, take blows of the same strength and even move at faster than light speeds. In truth the cybernetics behave the same as flesh on a cellular level, it’s the potentia that they allow the body to unleash that really changes things. The cybernetics do provide one advantage, they give the body the ability to adapt to hostile forces, the speed at which it can do this depends on the amount of potentia they have in their body, in Tempest’s case it will done in seconds. It also stops aging.”
Sunset eyes widened “She sounds like a god!”
Snowy frowned “I don’t think she is but honestly that isn’t what scares me, it the fact she has not shown the full limits of her strength or speed. In truth we are not sure of how much potentia she has or even if her cybernetics allow her to unleash all of it, she is as much of an enigma to us as she is to us as she is to you.”
Before Sunset could respond Tempest came out with wet hair dressed in a plain blue shirt and green jeans “So are you two ready to go?” The tow nod at her with a smile on their faces, Tempest smiled “I’m glad you two are getting along.” The three of them got into Tempest car and Tempest drove off to the Canterlot Mall.
They got out in front of the massive building, they enter the mall. Tempest smiled as she saw a furniture store with a massive sign above it Iron Oak’s Furniture Emporium. Tempest smiled “We need need to get you some furniture and some new clothes as well as a proper computer.”
Snowy smiled as she looked at a large finely engraved wooden desk with several drawers “This looks good, what do you think Sunset?”
Sunset walked over and looked at “It does look quite good but…” her eyes widened as she read the price tag she then turned to Tempest “This is three thousand dollars, I can’t have you spend on me?!”
Tempest smiled “Relax, I have plenty of money.”
An eight foot giant, muscular old man with a massive beard walked over with a grin “Tempest, it’s been years!”
Tempest chuckled at the old man “Iron Oak, you’re still kicking I see.”
Iron Oak grinned as he flexed “I don’t feel a day over sixty!”
Sunset Shimmer blinked in confusion as she looked between the two “How old is he?”
Iron Oak lifted Sunset onto his shoulder as with a smile “I’m ain’t a day over eighty. ” He then grinned “You want this beauty of a table right, crafted it myself?”
Tempest smiled “We are getting that table as Sunset is living with me now and need furniture.” Iron Oak grinned as he hefted the table over his other shoulder. Tempest grinned before he could walk away “Where are you taking Sunset?”
Iron Oaks burst into laughter “Nothing ever gets past you does it.” He put Sunset down next to Tempest.”
Snowy called out “I found the perfect desk chair… she would like that computer as well!”
Tempest rubbed the back of her head “Me and Sunset need to get going, Snowy is getting too into this.” About an hour later they arrived at the checkout desk with a whole bunch of goods.
Iron Oak eyes widened as he saw everything “That is a lot Tempest, are you sure you can afford it?”
Tempest smiled “Don’t you worry, I still have quite a bit of money saved up from my days in the Military.” With that Tempest quickly paid for everything, she then smiled “Snowy, you are much better than me at all of this and you have a much better fashion sense than I so why don’t you take Sunset to the clothes shop for some new clothes while I take these to the car.”
Snowy smiled “Sure.” Tempest smiled back as she left with all the furniture, Snowy then grinned at Sunset “It’s time to go shopping!” Sunset’s eyes widened as Snowy dragged her into Glitz and Glam, the local clothing store.
Sunset frowned as Snowy dragged her to the dress section, she pulled a flowery pink dress. Sunset grimaced “That’s not my style.”
Snowy whined “But you’ll look so good in it.”
Sunset rolled her eyes, she then began to look around. Her eyes gazed upon a section full of black dresses, she smiled as she grabbed a few black dresses, she then turned to the girl’s shirts and jeans section where she picked out several orange shirts and a few pair of dark blue jeans. Snowy frowned “Why are picking all those?”
Sunset grinned “Because they are my style!” Sunset walked over to the dressing room, Snowy watching as in a mix of intrigue as Sunset came in a deep black dress that perfectly molded with her frame, Sunset cast a playful grin at her.
Snowy jumped as a hand taped her shoulder, Tempest chuckled “Jumpy are you?” She then looked at Sunset and back to her “Looks like you love of pink flowery dresses was not shared by Sunset.”
Snowy pouted “You two have no understanding of fashion.”
Sunset grinned as she came out in her normal clothes, “I’m done.”
Tempest smiled as they purchased the clothes, they then proceeded to the Cafeteria for Lunch. Tempest sighed as she looked at Sunset “There is something I need to discuss with you.”
Sunset frowned “What is it?”
Tempest gave her a forced smile “I want to adopt you.”
Sunset shouted “Why, you barely know me?!”
Tempest sighed “True but we will get to know each other better over the months. Plus you have no legal guardian and by doing this I will legally be your parent which will help you later in life.”
Sunset nodded “True, it would be good to have some legal ground.”
Snowy smiled “I will help you in any way that I can.” The three sat there quietly eating lunch exchanged some quiet banter.
A month had passed since the Fall Formal, Sunset had begun tutoring a few kids who were struggling with their grades. The adoption paperwork had finally come through and she was now legally the daughter of Tempest Shadow, between her, Tempest and Snowy they had developed a friendly and easygoing family dynamic.
Tempest was standing near the door of the Gym near one of the school’s newly christened bands the Rainbooms that formed for the upcoming even the Musical Showcase. She frowned as her adopted daughter, Sunset Shimmer wandered the halls offering help but being denied by everyone. Pinkie Pie called out “Hey Sunset!”
Sunset walked over with a sigh as she heard the whispers, Tempest smiled as she ruffled the girl’s hair “Sunny, it will be fine.”
Sunset complained “Muuum don’t call me that in public!”
Tempest grinned sticking her tongue out “You can’t make me.”
They heard the sound of the mike on the stage and turned around, Celestia smiled “It’s good to see all of the students working together, I’m glad that so many have decided to enter the musical showcase. I have a feeling this event will most exciting event since the Fall Formal.” Sunset collapsed to the floor as everyone glared at her, however they all quickly turned away as Tempest stepped in front of Sunset glaring at them all.
Sunset then bolted out of the room, about ten minutes later the Rainbooms, Sunset and Tempest were all in the Rainbooms’ practice room. Sunset sighed “I’m never going to live that down.”
Tempest rested her hand on her daughter’s shoulder “Sunset, look I know this is difficult but it’s only been a month.”
Sunset sighed “In Equestria they would have gotten over this by now.”
Tempest nodded “I know, but humans aren’t as forgiving. I was honestly when you started calling me mum less than a week after I adopted you, I expected it to take months. You just need keep going and they’re forget all about it.”
Pinkie Pie bounced over “We’ve all forgiven you for that.”
Applejack smiled “I agree and it has made all closer for it.”
Rainbow smiled as she grabbed her guitar with a grin “Come on we should practice, the Musical Showcase is in a few days after all.”
Tempest and Sunset smiled as the two performed the new songs they had been practising Tempest raised an eyebrow as the ponied up, Sunset smiled after the performance smiled nervously “They can do that now.”
Rarity laughed “I can’t believe we do that when we play. Oh I have make us some dresses and accessories that can make us look fabulous while we play.”
Applejack frowned “That doesn't explain why can do this, Ah thought Twilight took magic back with her when she took the crown.”
Sunset was about to explain when Rainbow Dash interrupted “Who cares about why, as long as it makes my band more awesome why does it matter.”
Ever other member of the Rainbooms looked at her “Your band?!”
Sunset and Tempest exchanged worried glances as Rainbow boasted “Duh! I was the one who came up with the idea for this band thus it is mine. Plus I’m both lead guitarist and singer.”
Flash Sentry then burst in “Uh I was outside, you girls are sounding really good.”
Rainbow frowned “Not quite, Rarity came in a little slow and Applejack needs to really work on her Bass Solos.” Tempest and Sunset worry grew as they heard Rarity and Applejack grumble.
Flash rubbed the back of his head “Um I’m just wondering are any of our friends were attending, it is a big event for the school.”
Applejack sighed “Flash, I doubt Twilight is going to be returning any time soon, she is a Princess after all, plus the portal is closed for a few more years.”
Flash nervously laughed “Yeah well, keep on rocking.”
Rarity giggled “Oh mane he is heads over heels, isn’t he.” She covered her hand with her mouth “Oops sorry I knew you dated him once.”
Sunset let out a forced laugh “We weren’t ever really that close, I was more seeking power than actually really loving him” she then sighed “I was horrible, wasn’t I?”
Rarity grabbed her hand “You were but that’s the thing you were, you are not like that anymore.”
Sunset smiled “Thanks Rarity.”
Rarity smiled back “You’re welcome Sunset.”
Then over the school intercom the voice of Luna called out “Sunset Shimmer, please report to the Main Foyer.”
Sunset smiled “I offered to show the new students around, I’m trying to make a good impression so they can get to know the new me before they learn about the old.”
Tempest smiled “I have to fill out some paperwork today, I’ll see you all at break.” Tempest hummed in her office filling out paperwork, she smiled as she heard the bell ring and she headed to the Cafeteria. She sat down beside her daughter “Sunny, how did things go today with the new students.”
Sunset frowned “Something was off about them, I just can’t quite place it.”
Tempest frowned “What are there names?”
Sunset frowned “Adagio, Aria and Sonata, they were strange.” The door was pushed open, Sunset raised an eyebrow “That’s them.”
Adagio, Aria and Sonata began to sing, Tempest gritted her teeth as their voice pounded at her skull. She then heard a computer-like voice speak “Mental attack detected , developing advanced resistance to mental attack, implementing, implementing, implementing, implemented.”
Tempest looked up to see student glaring at each other, Pinkie remarked “Oh they’re that kind of strange.”
Sunset frowned “They have to be using dark magic, it’s the only way they could do this.”
Applejack frowned “We have to tell the Principal Celestia, she certainly…”
Tempest shook her head “No, they likely already have her under their control we need another plan.”
Sunset looked at the group “I have a plan, Princess Celestia gave me a book that allowed me to communicate with her directly. I may just be able to get to give us some advice on what we should do.” The Rainbooms and Tempest nodded to her plan, the group walked out of the room planning to get some advice from Princess Twilight on how to combat this new magical threat.
Sunset along with her mum and the Rainbooms were standing next to her as she opened her locker pulling a book with a sun image on it. She took a pen out of the locker and began to write.
Dear Princess Celestia A strange group of girls have taken over the school using dark magic, they have the power to control people using music, I was hoping you could inform Twilight so she could tell us what we should do next and give a little info on what these creatures are. From your former student Sunset Shimmer Tempest asked the question on everyone’s minds “Wast now?”
Sunset shrugged “We wait for a response, she is a Princess so she may be busy.”
Rainbow frowned “Let’s wait around the statue, I want to keep a distance from those three for now.”
The rest of the Rainbooms nodded, Sunset and Tempest joined them at the statue. Hour past as they as they sat there awaiting a response, Pinkie Pie whined “I’m bored.”
Rainbow frowned as she bounced a ball on the ground “Why hasn't she responded yet?”
Before Sunset could respond the statue glowed as Twilight and Spike popped out of the mirror, Sunset smiled reaching out with a hand “Hello Princess.”
Twilight looked up and took her hand, Sunset pulled her up. Before Twilight could speak, Pinkie gave her massive hug. Applejack pulled Pinkie off “It’s to good to see you Twilight, Ah just wish it was under better circumstances.”
Twilight frowned “I wish that too, at least I know what is the problem, those are sirens banished to this world by Starswirl the Bearded over one thousand years ago.”
Sunset frowned “That’s bad, speaking of which how did you get here the portal was supposed to be closed for years?”
Twilight smiled “I have the mirror portal in my castle…”
Rarity gasped “A castle!”
Twilight frowned “Yes Rarity I do, I’m the Prissiness of Friendship, now please let me continue” Rarity nodded in response, Twilight turned to Sunset “Celestia sent me the book that she used to communicate to with you, I was able to use it too force the portal open.”
Rainbow grinned “Well now your here we can blast those three with rainbow lasers and then all will be solved.”
Tempest shook her head “That won’t work, magic requires a conduit in this world to activate. You used the crown before but the crown is no longer here, the conduit for magic now seems to be music from what I can tell.”
Twilight raised an eyebrow “Miss Tempest why are you here and how are you not affected by the sirens, you don’t have magic?”
Sunset smiled “Well she game me a home and she got my adoption papers yesterday so yeah she’s my mum now.”
Twilight smiled “That’s fantastic.”
Tempest tapped her metal arm which gave a light tink sound “I have cybernetics, they allowed me to adapt to the mental attack granting me advanced mental protection. As for how I know these things well I used to be a solider, we are trained to notice small details.”
Twilight asked the Rainbooms “What happens when you play music?”
Rainbow grinned “We all grow ears, Shy and I even grow wings, it makes my band even more awesome.”
Twilight nodded as Tempest and Sunset frown at each other as they hear the grumbles from the other Rainbooms, Twilight frowned “Well looks like we’ll needs a magical counter spell.”
Applejack asked “Do you know one?”
Twilight shook her head “No we don’t use musical spells very often in Equestria, I’ll have to write one.”
Spike pipped up “She can easily do that, she did that to ascend to an Alicorn.”
Twilight sighed “Spike I finished a spell, not wrote one. Besides we have to have them hear it, so we need to be in a place where they can.”
Rarity’s eye widened “Of course, we’re having a Battle of the Bands they are sure to be there” she then looked at Twilight with a smile “and looks our bed has it’s newest member.”
Twilight blinked “But I can’t play an instrument.”
Pinkie bounced up and down “But you can siiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg.”
Rainbow frowned “You mean like lead singer but that’s my thing, it is my band.”
Applejack growled “Our band!” she then turned around with a smile “Of course you can sing Twilight.”
Rainbow shrugged “Whatever, I get show off my awesome guitar skills anyway.”
Twilight smiled “It will only be until we stop the sirens.” Sunset and Tempest looked at each other mind boggled that the Princess of Friendship wasn’t noticing the obvious tension the room.
Twilight then began to walk away as gestured to Spike “Come on.”
Applejack blinked in confusion “Where are you going?”
Twilight frowned “We stayed in the Library last time we were here.”
Pinkie bounced over to her with a massive grin “Oh no we’re besties which means slumber party time!”
Sunset looked at Tempest, Tempest smiled “Of course you can go, spend some time with your friends.”
Sunset smiled “Thanks Mum.” She then walked over to her friends, Tempest’s jaw dropped as Pinkie grabbed all of her friends in a massive hug, bounced three times and the entire group vanished without a trace. Tempest took a few deep breathes before getting in her car and heading home trying not to think about what the pink girl just did to reality.
Tempest had arrived at the school with a sigh, today was the day they were going to defeat the sirens and bring the Battle of the Bands to a close. Just as she got out of the car she saw Sunset and her friends pop out of thin air holding onto Pinkie Pie, Sunset shakes her head “I’m never gonna get used to that.”
Tempest smiled “Are you ready to win this?”
Sunset sighed “No, the counter spell isn’t ready…” she then whispered in Tempest’s ear “Mum can we talk privately?”
Tempest nodded as they walked away a good distance from the group, Tempest frowned “What’s wrong?”
Sunset frowned as she looked back “It’s Dash she is letting her ego run rampant and everyone else is feeling it. Worse Twilight is under so much pressure to succeed she can’t see them falling apart.”
Tempest sighed “I know what you want me to do but I can’t fix this. Sure I could tell them the problem, I could even force them to confront it but it would be the word of a teacher or a word of parent but that is not what they need, the need the word of a friend they need you.”
Sunset looked at the ground “It’s not my place.”
Tempest gave her a warm smile “I can’t make you do this, when you are ready do what you must.”
Sunset looked at her “How will I know when I’m ready?”
Tempest shook her head “That is something you will have to find out for yourself, there is no way of knowing until you find it. Now come on let’s head into the gym.”
The two followed the Rainbooms into the school. As soon as they entered the Auditorium they saw all the bands glaring at one another as if ready to fight. Principal Celestia called out “Luna and I wish to welcome you all to Canterlot Highs Battle of the Bands, I do believe this is the greatest event we have ever held at this school” Everyone save the Rainbooms, Tempest, Sunset and the Sirens cheered , Principal Celestia smiled as she gestured to the Sirens “I must thank the Dazzling for providing us with such a wonderful idea.”
Luna walked forward “Yes however in the end, only one can win so are you all ready!”
Tempest frowned as every other contestant save the Rainbooms began shouting at one another. She covered her ears as Snips and Snails gave a terrible rap performance, she growled “What are they doing?!”
After their performance ended the Rainbooms took to the stage, Sunset watched from the side as Rarity arrived wearing. Applejack scowled “Why are you…what are you wearing?!”
Rarity frowned “We’re performing in front of a live audience, do you think I would miss out on an opportunity like this.” Applejack grumbled as she got on the stage.
Tempest smiled clapping at the performance until she noticed Photo Finish and her goons messing with Rarity using magnets.
Tempest dissapeared in a flash of movement before towering over them she looked at them with a killer scowl “What do you think your doing?!” Then she saw that Fluttershy was running from the light being focused on her, Tempest turned to see Snips and Snails messing with the light, she then dissapeared in another flash of movement appearing behind them placing a hand on their shoulders “So you kids want to play silly, do you?” The two looked up to see Tempest towering over them fury etched on her face.
She then turned around to see Applejack and Rarity arguing, she sighed “Well this is just ‘fantastic’!” She frowned as her daughter led them out, she followed them until Sunset branched off after they had an altercation with Flash Sentry, she was struggling not to punch a student as logic tried to push done her fury.
She followed Sunset who confronted the Dazzlings, Sunset growled “You’ll never get away with this!”
Adagio grinned “Oh because you didn’t. Oh yes we all now about your demon incident.”
Sunset growled “I’m not that person anymore, I have moved past that!”
Aria chuckled “Oh yeah then why are you here while you friends are playing, they didn’t want you there because no-one would listen them to play if ‘she’ was performing.”
Sunset gritted her teeth “Shut up!”
Adagio grinned evilly “Yes you’re so tight!”
Tempest was about to intervene when her daughter growled as she glared at Adagio her eyes sclera had turned black as a pair of demonic wings emerged from her back as she spoke in a demonic voice “Shut up Adagio!” Before Adagio could even move Sunset’s left hand turned into a demonic claw that pinned her to the wall “Adagio, I am not just some little kid scared of their past. I have accepted it, I have moved on with the help of my friends, it’s why you’re still alive right now!”
She let the siren dropped the siren drop to the floor before joining her siblings, they all bolted away from the demonic teenager. Sunset took a deep breath as the demon retracted within her, Tempest walked over to Sunset “Are you alright?”
Sunset sighed “Yeah, I just didn’t expect to do that again.” Tempest frowned as she recalled the event.

Tempest was sitting in her house, she frowned as she hard Snowy shout “Sunset, I’m sorry I just wanted to listen to you practice, why are you getting so angry!”
Sunset scowled “That song was personal, no one was supposed to hear until it was ready.”
Tempest ran out to stop the argument when as it continued to escalate when she heard a massive crash, Tempest moved at her top speed appearing in the room to see Sunset flapping a pair of demonic wings she stared out of a Snowy sized hole in the wall.
Present Day
Tempest smiled “You aren’t a bad person, if you were you would have killed her then and there.”
Sunset sighed “I know it’s just…” she then looked up to see her friend re-entering the room “Their next performance is about to start, I got to go.” Sunset rushed in with Tempest walked in behind her, Tempest walked behind the stage to watch for any more potential sabotages. Tempest frowned as she heard the song, she knew what it was, a huge ego trip for the lead singer.
She heard the crowd gasp, Tempest ran over to see Sunset and Rainbow lying on the stage, she watched in shock as every began shouting insults at her daughter, then Rainbow shouted “Why did you do that?!”
Sunset shied away slightly “You were beginning to transform, I just had to do something.” Before any one else could speak Tempest growled grabbing Sunset and then the two dissapeared before anyone could even move.
Tempest was sitting outside the school with Sunset, Sunset looked away “I screwed up, I acted rashly.”
Tempest frowned “You did what you believed you needed to do in the moment, sometimes there is no time for thought, just action.” Tempest shook err head “You should go and join you friends I’ll see you at the finale.”
Sunset looked at her with fear in her eyes “What if they’re still mad?”
Tempest shook her head before as giving her daughter a comforting smile “They won’t be, they just snapped in the moment.”
Sunset smiled “Thanks mum.”
Tempest chuckled as she ruffled her daughter’s hair “Go Sunny help your friends.”
Sunset grinned “I will thanks mum.” Tempest smiled as Sunset ran off to find her friends, she eventually found them preparing for the final round.
Sunset arrived near them, she saw that Rainbow was setting up the microphone. Fluttershy frowned “Why did we make it to the finals, we performed horribly.”
Sunset raised an eyebrow as she stood next to Fluttershy “You are in the finals?”
Before anyone could answer her question, they heard footsteps and turned around to see Trixie and her teammates, the illusions. Trixie scowled “Yes and they shouldn’t be, you all performed horribly!”
Rainbow growled “Get out of where, you lost and we won that’s the end of it!”
Trixie clicked her fingers “I don’t think so.” The Illusions pulled two levers the Rainbooms and Sunset under the stage, Spike however manage to jump away.
Tempest arrived about thirty minutes later to see Trixie beginning her performance, She looked around desperately but found no sign of her daughter or the Rainbooms anywhere, meanwhile under the stage Sunset grimaced Rainbow bashed again the door with her shoulder. Applejack sighed “Dash you ain’t going to break that door, give it up.”
Twilight sighed “It doesn’t matter anyway, the counterspell wouldn’t even have worked.”
Sunset’s eyes widened as Applejack growled “It would have if a certain Rainbow haired girl could keep her ego under control!”
Rainbow shouted “I am just making sure my band rocks out as hard as it should!”
Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie all snarled “Our Band!”
Sunset turned to Twilight who was crying “Why isn't working, I’m the Princess of Friendship. I have to have to be able to make this work.”
Applejack scowled “It’s not all about you, we have all put effort into this band as well.”
Rainbow scowled “I write all the songs.”
Fluttershy screamed “I have been writing songs since this band started but we have not played a single one!” Sunset watched as the group began to argue, then green energy began to fly into the air as the arguing intensified. Tempest meanwhile was shocked as the Dazzlings began fully hypnotising the crowd as they grew fin-like wings and tails as well as pair of pony-like ears.”
Sunset felt a nauseated feeling in her gut, she shouted at them “Enough!”
The girls turned to Sunset, Sunset gestured toward the green mist “The Dazzling are stealing you magic, this is what they have wanted all along!”
Applejack eyes widened “But we are using friendship magic aren’t we, how can they use it?”
Sunset took a deep breath “I didn’t feel like I should be the one to say this as new to friendship as I am but ever since this band started you have let every little thing balloon into a major conflict. If you let this go on friendship magic be used like this it become something monstrous, I know from experience.”
Twilight stood up “I can’t believe I let all this tension slip by me, I’m supposed to have all the answers but all I’ve done is disappoint you all.”
Sunset smiled “No-one has all the answers, and that’s not a a bad thing as long as we allow our friends to help us find them we will never truly fall.”
Twilight smiled “I believe you have helped us find out answers now let’s go and show the Dazzlings what we’re made of!” The group slammed against the door only for it to open.
Spike and Vinyl were standing outside the door, Twilight shouted as she grabbed Spike “Spike!”
Spike rubbed the back of his head “I’m sorry finding someone who was not a mind controlled zombie was difficult.”
Twilight looked at her “Um why is she not affected?”
Spike rolled his eyes as he said as if it was the most obvious answer in the world “Headphones.”
Applejack smiled “Let’s go and prove we still have friendship on our side.”
Pinkie’s eyes widened with glee “Does that mean we are getting the band back together.”
Rainbow grinned “Yes but this time it’s not my band, it’s our band.” she then turned to Twilight “so what version of the counterspell are we going to play?”
Twilight smiled “It doesn’t matter as long as we play with friendship in our hearts.”
Rainbow turned to Fluttershy with a smile “Well I believe Fluttershy has a quite a few great songs we can play.” Fluttershy squeed as she gave Rainbow a smile that would rival Pinkie Pie.
Applejack smiled at Rarity “Don’t heroes always dress in style?”
Rarity grinned as she pulled out several outfits “Yes!”
The Rainbooms and Sunset climbed up a hill overlooking the field, Rainbow shouted “How can we affect them from here?!” They all heard a honk as a care droved behind them before morphing into a massive music machine with Vinyl at the helm, Rainbow’s eyes sparkled “Awesome.”
Tempest meanwhile was shaking in fury as the sirens continued to sing, she then heard another set of music behind her. She looked up to see the Rainbooms who began singing back at the sirens.
Adagio grinned “They wanted to turn this into a real battle, the let’s show them what a real battle is.” Tempest’s eyes widened as the siren’s eyes glowed red, summoning huge finned dragon looking creatures. Tempest disappeared in a flash of movement to strike at one only for it to dodge it blasting her in the back with a wave of sound, sending crashing in front of the Rainbooms, she groaned as she stood up “They are faster than me, that shouldn’t be possible I can exceed light speed several times over.”
The Rainbooms began firing waves of magical sound but the sirens pushed it back with one of them knocking Tempest down every time she tried to attack them. They then let out a final push sending the microphone flying out of Twilight’s hand, Twilight turned to Sunset Shimmer “It must be you.”
Sunset grabbed the mic before taking a deep breath, then walked over standing beside glaring at the sirens fiercely as she chucked her jacket on the ground, she began to sing

They then as they fired off a rainbow light into the sky forming a giant glowing Rainbow orb. A huge white Alicorn with a rainbow mane made of magic fired a beam of magic at the sirens. Adagio scowled “We will not be defeated here!” The three floating sirens fired off a combined beam of sound that began to push the magic of the white Alicorn back.
Tempest looked between the sirens and Alicorn before deciding on her course of action. She disappeared in a flash striking the sirens floating forms from behind stopping them for long enough for the beam to hit them destroying them before it hit her sending her flying into the sirens, their real bodies ducking to avoid Tempest’s body flying towards them but still getting blasted by the magic shattering their gems leaving them powerless. Tempest laid there behind the stage as the Alicorn dissipated her body glowing with magical power.
Tempest felt the force pushing her down disappear, she gritted her teeth pain coursing through her body as she forced herself to her feet. Her body was glowing with magic, the cybernetics in her brain was ending our warning signals “Parameters for energy absorption exceeded, body undergoing fatal collapse, searching for possible solutions.”
Tempest growled slightly as she saw the Dazzlings running past her causing the trio to speed up as they saw the glowing woman glaring at them. Her cybernetics beeped “Potential solution found.”
Tempest gritted her teeth “Then implement it already, I’m dying here!” Her cybernetics beeped “Implementing modifications.” Her teeth began to shake as her ears began to vanish, she screamed in agony as a pair of of bones pushed out of her back, the bones then separated as they grew before a mix of flesh and machinery moved over them melding together forming a perfect hybridisation of flesh and tech.
Then she felt as her skull began to shift as flesh began to move around the top of her skull. Eventually the pain eased, she could feel power coursing through her body, she felt as if she could shatter worlds with a single finger. She walked to the stage with a frown until she bumped into Twilight and Sunset who had walked back stage, Tempest smiled as shouted “Twilight, Sunny!”
Twilight and Sunset turned around, they gasped as they noticed the moderate rose pony ears on her head. She blinked “What, did something happen?”
Twilight took a deep breath before frowning “You have pony ears.”
Tempest put her hands to the side of her head, only to feel nothing there her pony ears then twitched a she touched them. She jumped backwards in shock, a pair of massive moderate rose wings flared out, Sunset blinked in shock “You have wings!”
Twilight took a deep breath as she approached Tempest “How did this happen?”
Tempest taking a deep breath before frowning “After I got hit by your beam, my cybernetics absorbed the energy because it thought it was being attacked, my body could store it effectively and it begun tearing through my body so my body searched for a potential solution and … oh”
Sunset joined her “Mum this could be bad you know, how do think everyone else will react.”
Tempest shrugged “I doubt it would cause much of a stir, magical incidents seem to be forgotten around here.” She then frowned “Speaking of which why are you two out here?”
Twilight frowned as she turned to Sunset “When we singing up there my I felt dark magic in you, I thought we got rid of that so why is it still there?”
Sunset sighed “Dark magic never truly goes away, once you use it is a part of you.”
Tempest shrugged “We have got it handled, she had a slight explosion at the Dazzlings but it was fine, she has gained fantastic control of her darker side.”
Twilight frowned “You knew, why didn’t you say anything?!”
Tempest rolled her eyes “It wasn’t an issue when we fighting the Dazzlings, anyway let’s go and join the Rainbooms shall we.”
Twilight nodded as they turned to head towards the stage“That’s true, I’ll keep this secret for now.”
They walked onto the stage, Rainbow raised an eyebrow “What’s with the ears Coach Tempest?”
Tempest chuckled “Wait until you see this.” She flared out her wings.
Rainbow grinned “Awesome.”
Tempest smiled “Yep.”
Spike walked up to the group “Twilight are we going to return home soon, I am craving for some gems.”
Temporises raised an eyebrow “Why didn’t you get me, I could have shattered that door in an instant.”
Spike rubbed the back of his head “Well getting through the crowd of zombies was hard and this body is not very good at shouting so I had to find someone quickly who was not under mind control so I ended up bumping into Vinyl.”
Applejack frowned “How did you get wings?”
Tempest frowned as well “My cybernetics kinda of tried to absorb the magic and thus I almost died, speaking of which why did nobody check on me.”
Sunset sighed “I tried but we kinda got swarmed by the crowd and we kind of forgot after we managed to get out of the crowd.”
Twilight sighed “I didn’t think our magic could kill anyone, we have to be more careful.”
Tempest nodded “Well I better go home, I need some rest.”
Sunset smiled “Mum I’ll be home in a couple of hours don’t worry.”
Tempest smiled back “I’ll see you then.” Tempest drove back home, she walked into the living room and walked over to a bookshelf. She pulled a book back and the bookshelf moved aside revealing a long white staircase with light keeping the area lit all the way down, Tempest walked down the stairs into a massive room white empty room with a console. Tempest pressed a button that read (force assessment object.)
A huge round orb appeared, Tempest took a deep breath “Time to see how strong I am now that I have magic within in me.”
She slammed her fist into the object at full force before having to restrain herself a, the orb bent inward almost popping as the machine beeped “Galaxy level destructive force detected.”
Tempest’s eyes widened in horror, Sunset arrived home a few hours later. She walked in to see her mother laying on her bed. Tempest awoke to see Sunset standing in front of her, she smiled as she gave Sunset a hug, as soon as she touched she heard a crack and gasped as she let go Sunset collapsing to the ground her body not moving, Tempest cried “No no no.”
She turned around to see Snowy walking in with a smile “Hey honey.”
Snowy walked over Tempest gasped “Stay away, I’ll hurt you I’m too strong.” Snowy tried to approach only for Tempest to close her eyes as she slammed her hands onto the table, she opened her eyes to see darkness and large piles of rubble floating around her, she screamed “No!”
She then jolted upwards felt something shaking her, she looed over to see Sunset’s concerned face , tear began to from in her eyes. Sunset asked as she wrapped her arms around her mother “What’s wrong?”
Tempest cried “I am too strong, the machine down there measures my strength, it told me I could shatter the galaxy with these hands. I dreamt I killed you when I hugged you, I then obliterated the planet in anger.”
Sunset shook her head “I trust you won’t do that mum, you are an expect in controlling your own strength.” The two stayed like that for the rest of the day as Tempest needed the comfort.
The next day Tempest arrived at the school with Sunset, Sunset smiled warmly “It will be fine, mum trust me.” Tempest nodded as she uneasily got out of the car, she walked into the school she kept a stoic expression but on the inside she was shaking worried she would break something or hurt someone, she noticed a few students gazing her wings and ears for a few moments before shrugging and turning away just glad that students just accepted her new appendages without any questions. She took a seat at her desk hoping for an easy day.
Tempest was filling out some paperwork that was on her desk, she grimaced as was filling out some of the pages, she sighed with all these magical incidents and with the Friendship Games coming up everyone was clearly going to be stressed.
She stood up and walked to the Principal's office, she knew they had to do something. She knocked on the door, Celestia opened with a frown “Tempest what may I ask are you coming to my office for?”
Tempest smiled “I wanted to discuss something with you.”
Celestia nodded “Okay, come on in” as soon as Tempest took a seat, Celestia asked “So what did you want to discuss?”
Tempest sighed “I feel the students have been quite stressed out lately, we have had two major events and we both know that the Friendship Games is not exactly going to help matters.”
Celestia frowned “What do you suggest?”
Tempest frowned “I believe we should schedule a trip to Camp Everfree so they can all relax and have some fun that doesn’t involve magic and beings from another world trying to take control of ours.”
Celestia smiled “That is not a bad idea, I must admit I do remember just how much I enjoyed it back in the day.”
Tempest smiled “It was a blast, I remember when I went only for Stinking Rich to cut the ribbon as the primary backer of the camp all those years ago. He was a large portly man with a heart of gold, he was like a father to many of the kids in the orphanage.”
Luna knocked on the door “Ah yes, Celestia decided that our year’s camp gift was a sundial despite the fact it wouldn’t work at night.”
Tempest smiled “I remember our Camp Gift, it was the totem pole that you see at the camp. We decided on it because it would be a give respect to those who owned this land before we did.”
Luna and Celestia blinked “That is the the symbol of the camp, we thought it was there since it was made.”
Tempest shook her head “Nope, in truth I haven’t seen the camp since I left for the military, I wonder how it has changed.”
Luna nodded “It has changed a lot since your time trust me.”
Celestia looked over Tempest“Speaking of which I’m surprised there hasn’t been quite a bit more of an uproar at you new appendages.”
Luna rolled her eyes “With all the weird magical stuff going on around here I guess it has just become normal around here.”
Tempest frowned “Well I’m just glad you two are the first two to bring it up, honestly most kids looked at me for a few seconds before moving on.” The trio continued to discuss things until the final periods of the day when Tempest had to teach her class.
Tempest was standing there next to the gym teacher from Crystal Prep, Principal Celestia and Principal Cinch were hashing out he details for the upcoming friendship games. She frowned at him, he was a large man with massive muscles, he towered over her as he grinned “Tempest, you really need a real man in your life.”
Tempest scowled “Muscle Fibre, how many times do I have to tell you I’m not interested. I have a wife and an adopted daughter I’m happy with what I have!”
Muscle Fibre grinned “You don’t know what you missing, how about I show you.” Then much to the shock of everyone else in the room he grabbed her breasts, he grinned as he looked at her “You like.” Tempest looked up and Muscle Fibre’s eyes widened as he saw fire in her eyes, she punched him so hard he crashed into the wall.
Principal Celestia and Cinch ran out and they both growled “What happened here?!”
Tempest scowled pointed to Muscle Fibre “That idiot groped me!”
Cinch sighed “Principal Celestia may we discuss this later, right now I have to discipline my staff.”
Celestia nodded “Yes, I’ll speak to Tempest. That guy has been trouble Cinch ever since he got here.”
Cinch sighed “I know, he’s only been here a few years he was an ex student here actually. He was better behaved back then, he was an orphan, he reminded me of myself when I was a little kid.”
Celestia frowned “I can’t possible understand you but Tempest might.”
Cinch whispered in Celesta’s ear “Is she an orphan too?” Celestia nodded as she the room leaving Cinch to confront her staff member.
Celestia was standing outside with Tempest who had already left, Celestia raised her hand with a smile “You’re not in trouble, I would have done far worse.”
Tempest blinked “Really?”
Celestia laughed “Yes, in truth remember how bad Sunset was?” Tempest raised an eyebrow as she nodded Celestia continued “I was far far worse, I beat up kids, spread rumours and even once sent a kid to hospital but I did in such a way that no-one could link it to me. I did that for years until the last year of High School when Luna was in her 4th year of high school, I was beating up some nerdy kid until out of all people it was L:una found us. She was always the larger of the two of us, even though she was two years younger than me she was always the fitter and stronger one, still is.”
Tempest frowned “What happened?!”
Celestia sighed “Turns out that kid was Luna’s best friend for years and I had been giving her grief, Luna finally caught me in the act, I tried to run as she chased me down. She punched me into the yard where kids were and they crowded around us looking me in a ring with her, she beat me to a pulp leaving me bleeding on the ground, she got two months detention but for me it was worse everything came out, I was suspended for the rest of year and had to repeat not to mention every student was taking any opportunity to wail on me, in fact I wouldn’t have made it out if Luna wasn’t looking out for me.”
Tempest blinked “Are you sure she’s not the older sister?”
Celestia smiled “She might as well be some days” she then frowned “We better get back in there, Cinch should be done with that muscle-head.”
The two entered to see the room empty, Cinch frowned “I decided we will continue this meeting another day” she then turned to Celestia who nodded before leaving the room. Cinch sighed “Tempest can we talk?”
Tempest frowned “Is it really important?”
Conch slumped over as she asked “You were an orphan when you were younger right?”
Tempest scowled “How do you know that… Celestia!”
Cinch put a hand on her shoulder, seeing the out of place pleading look in the usually stiff Principal’s eyes Tempest sat down “Yes I was, why do you want to know?”
Cinch sighed as she fiddled nervously “I was left at orphanage at the age of five because my parents didn’t want me, I was bullied by all the other kids and that taught me that I could only rely on myself for years I was alone.”
Tempest frowned “I was kicked out of my home when I was six when they found out I had a crush on a girl. I lived in an orphanage for years until I joined the military with the intention of dying, it was only thanks to a certain woman I’m still here today.” The two discussed their past as they sat in the room alone.
Tempest was wearing a military uniform her hair tied back in a ponytail, today was her first day in the army. A pale white woman with hair like an Aurora stood right next to her, a fire burnt in her eyes something strong and burning echoed within her heart.
Tempest and the pale woman boarded one of the barges, they stood there as they approached the coast of Normandy. The sound go gunfire began to pound against the door of the barge, most of the soldiers were shivering at the sound of gunfire, Tempest didn’t care she came here to die, the pale woman turned to Tempest before turning back to the front.
Tempest smiled slightly as the barge landed, she closed her eyes. She waited until the door opened, then much to er shock she was pushed over, she shouted “I wanted to die damn it, that’s the reason I entered this damn army!”
The woman scowled at her “You have a life, don’t waste it you are alive while so many others who wanted to live aren’t, your life is not something you can throw away.”
Tempest looked away “Everyone abandoned me, my parents left me at an orphanage because I liked girls, everyone bullied me and treated me like dirt why should I live when no-one cares about me.”
The pale woman sighed “I care about you, you helped me a lot during training you trained harder than anyone else, you inspired me and maybe you can inspire others.”
Tempest’s eye widened “I inspired you.”
The pale woman nodded “My name is Celestia now let’s go, let’s show them what we’re made of.” Temperate looked at Celestia jumped into the mud crawling through the field of barbed wire and roared as she dove into the mud crawling after her. The sound of bullets flew past them followed by the sound of screams, part of Celestia’s fire burnt within Tempest now and the two pushed forward.
The emerged out of the barbed wire and began running at the enemy firing their files in unison as they crossed the field like an unrelenting force taking shots at the the defenders, a bullet tore into Tempest’s shoudler but she kept going. Soon countless others joined them rallying behind around the pair as they pressed forward tearing apart the defenders.
Tempest and Celestia grinned as they routed the German Defenders, Celestia smiled “You really came into your own.”
Tempest shook her head “It’s onyx because you cared about me, you have been the first to ever do so and it filled me with strength, I owe you my life and more.”
Celestia smiled “Keep living, that is all I need you to do no matter how hard it gets keep on living and you have rapid me in full.”
The duos fought many more battle as they tore into Germany even transferring into the American branch of the military to finish the war against Germany on their terms. After the war Tempest was adopted into the family and they moved to Canterlot.
Tempest had driven Sunset to the school, Sunset needed a lift as Rainbow had an emergency. She was humming to herself in the school car-park, when Sunset opened the door and then slammed it after her. Tempest frowned as she turned to her “What’s wrong Sunset?”
Sunset took a deep breath “I will go and talk to the girls in a minute I just need to take a breather.”
Tempest frowned “Okay what happened, this is obviously bugging you.”
Sunset growled shaking with anger “Rainbow Dash called me on the emergency number for a damn guitar string so she can show off to the CMC then after the girls went in to watch Rainbow show off someone in a hoodie was examining the statue, I have no idea who she or why!” Sunset smiled as she opened the door “Thanks for letting me vent, I’ll go and talk to my friends.” Tempest nodded as she frowned wondering who was examining the portal.
Meanwhile at Crystal Prep the hooded figure had taken off her hood revealing that she is the human world’s Twilight Sparkle. She traversed the corridors avoiding the students around her as she headed to her lab, she opens her door only of her puppy Spike to jump on her, she smiled “Spike please I know you excited I’m back but I have to get to work on what I found at Canterlot.”
Spike growled, Twilight patted his head “I know you were worried about me considering the rivalry between our schools but I have confirmed this object can detect whatever strange energy is over there. If I can collect enough data on the strange electro-magnetic waves coming from the Canterlot area I could determine their origin and guarantee my place in Everton’s independent study program.”
She jumped as the door opened, she smiled “Dean Cadence what do I owe the pleasure?”
Cadence laughed “It’s just you and me right now, you can just call me Cadence when we are alone. As for why I’m here well Principal Cinch wants to see you …” she saw Spike “you better change your shirt, you know that Principal Cinch is allergic to dogs.”
Twilight gasped “Does she have news about my entry to Everton’s independent study program?”
Cadence sighed “Are you sure what this is what you want?”
Twilight blinked “Why would you ask that, it’s a program that would allow me to study any individual to focus on their maths and science projects.”
Cadence frowned “But you’ll be on your own without any classmates.”
Twilight rolled her eyes “It is an independent study program.”
Cadence sighed “Look sometimes you need others to truly improve yourself.”
Twilight shrugged “I suppose.”
Dean Cadence nodded with a smile “I’ll see you in Principal Cinch’s office.” she then muttered something under her breath as she walked out of the room.
Twilight blinked “Why is she worried about anything, it’s not I have anything else to learn here, Everton’s the perfect place for me.” She left the room and one musical montage later she was standing in front of Principal Cinch’s office, she opened the door.
As soon as Twilight entered the large chair creaked as Principal Cinch turned around , the door slammed shut revealing both Cadence and Shining Armour. Twilight blinked “Why is my brother here?”
Cadence told her “Cinch believes he could bring a certain perspective to this discussion.”
Twilight blinked “Perspective? On What?”
Cinch frowned “The Friendship Games, of course” she then turned to Shining Armour “You were one of our best representatives in the games were you not?”
Shining Armour nodded “Yes I was.”
Cinch then asked “Who won?”
Shining Armour chuckled “We did, we always do.”
Cinch nodded “Exactly and that’s what brings me to you Twilight, you see Crystal Prep has a certain reputation to uphold. The games are not about whether we win or lose, it’s the fact we are expected to win due to our reputation and that reputation is is responsible for everyling we have here, everything that you have done and you have done quite a lot.”
Twilight blushed “I guess.”
Cinch frowned “Don’t be modest, you are the most brilliant student we’ve ever had and for life of me I can’t understand why don’t want to compete in the games.”
Shining Armour looked at her “Look Twily, I know this isn’t normally what you like to do but supporting this school is very important and they could use you help.”
Cinch nodded “Not to mention our rivals Canterlot High are undergoing a renaissance, education scores, athletics are all rising, they are developing a reputation and if we don’t win these games we could lose ours and then lose everything we have all worked for.”
Twilight shook her head “I have work I need to…”
Cinch frowned “I know of your work and of your entry into the Everton Independent Study Program.” Twilight froze as Cinch said “I have quite a bit of influence in certain circles if you enter these games I could fast track you entry into Everton, on the other hand I could always have it denied. What is you answer.”
Twilight took a deep breath “I will enter these games.”
Twilight then left the office, Cadence walked over to her with a frown “I hope this works.”
Shining Armour grimaced “I had to watch as you blackmailed my sister, I am not okay with this.”
Cinch sighed “I understand in truth there are many better candidates than Twilight, sure she is smart but she is terrible athletics and lacks any other skill to make her a useful member of the team, the reason I’m doing this is simple, the Everton Independent Study Program is only for three months a short program to bring in talent before moving them into the full course which is very much about working with others.”
She then took a deep breath before continuing “I am hoping to help Twilight develop some social skills this will be the beginning I hope to have her do an exchange with a Canterlot High student to help round out her skill-set for the future.”
Tempest had walked onto to the grounds smiling as all the preparations for the Friendship Games had been made, Sunset and Snowy were beside her, Sunset headed off to get her books for class.
Tempest entered the office with Snowy, Tempest cast her usual glare at Miss Harshvoice who was getting ready for her class before she walked over to her desk ad sat down only to see Berry Punch smiling at her “Thank goodness all the preparations where over” she then frowned “I must admit I was shocked when that man groped you, no-one in this school had the guts to do that.”
Snowy growled as she sat on Tempest’s desk“ Someone dared touch my wife, I’ll tear their head off and feed on their entrails.”
Tempest placated her wife “It’s fine I got him” she then turned to Berry Punch “That guy was a total idiot, not even Discord would dare do that to me.”
Berry Punch nodded “Agreed, speak of the devil and he’ll appear.”
Discord chuckled as he walked behind them, he was wearing green and blue polka dots pants with a vivid pink shirt and a gold hat with splotches of red, pink, blue and green on it “You three mentioned mwa.”
Tempest groaned “What could you possibly want?”
Discord grinned “I just wanted to hang with two of my favourite drinking buddies and one of their girlfriends, I still can’t believe Tempest can drink me under the table, me the master drinker himself.”
Berry Punch slumped over “I regret inviting you drinking night.”
Temperate grinned as she turned to Discord “I’m not, watching him strip naked and embarrass himself publicly is hilarious.” Discord shuddered as Snowy burst into laughter, Tempest grinned going in for the kill “He even proceeded to have sex with the table.” Discord bolted out of the room as quickly as he could before Tempest could say anything else.
Snowy continued to laugh as she banged her fist on Tempest’s desk “That was golden.”
Berry Punch eyes meanwhile were as wide as dinner plates “You did the impossible, you got rid of Discord.”
Tempest grinned “All you need to do is know what truly embarrasses him and you can bring him down.”
Before anyone else could say anything, they heard a message “Can Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle please report to the Principal Celestia's office?”
Tempest got a really bad feeling in her gut, she stood up “Snowy we need to see Celestia, I got a bad feeling about that message over the intercom.” Tempest and Snowy rushed out the door leaving a confused Berry Punch, the two rushed to Principal Celestia's office, just as they were hearing that Applejack had been just summoned to the office.
Tempests scowled internally as she saw Applebloom run out of the office crying with her two friend leaving shortly after, Tempest and Snowy knocked on the door of Principal Celestia's office. Luna opened only to reveal Applejack, another Apple Bloom as well as Celestia.
Snowy was confused but Tempest was it she had a good idea of what had happened, Tempest frowned “I need to speak to the Principal and Vice Principal in private, it is important.”
Celestia nodded “Applejack, Apple Bloom I need to leave this is private.” The two Apple family members nodded.
Snowy frowned “I’ll just leave then.”
Tempest frowned “You need to hear this two as does Sunset, Snowy you can go and get her.”
Celestia frowned “I’ll write a note, this is obvious really important.”
After writing a quick note, she then passed it to Snowy who opened the door and bolted away to looking for Sunset. Several anxious moments passed before Snowy returned with Sunset, she smiled nervously “I didn’t know what classroom she was in.”
Tempest frowned “That doesn’t matter” she then turned to Celestia “The Apple Bloom that ran out of this room before I got here was from another world wasn’t she?”
Celestia nodded “Yes she was, she was ac…” her eyes then widened “How do you know that, wait are you from another world as well?”
Tempest frowned “Yes and no, it’s a bit more complicated then that.”
Luna scowled “Where is our Great Aunt then!”
Tempest frowned “I am Tempest or at least I think I am, in truth unlike Apple Bloom the other person was arrived in a very different way you see our two souls existed as separate entitles. She got to see my memories or maybe I got to see Tempest’s I’m not sure nor does it really matter, in any case the two souls eventually found common ground and forming one complete soul.”
Luna was about to yell when Celestia put a hand on her shoulder “Calm down sis, let’s jump to conclusions she then turned to Snowy “You are her wife, is she telling the truth?”
Snowy nodded “Absolutely, in truth I’ve known I could feel the two souls within her merging we slept together that night, she also felt different and acted different in some ways, the old Tempest would never have adopted a child she was too much of a loner. Took her months to notice I was interested.”
Sunset frowned “She is my mother, she took me in, gave me a home when I was alone and hated by so many for my actions. We are family.”
Celestia smiled “Well then I’m sold” she then turned to her sister “What about you?”
Luna sighed “I’m sorry I jumped to conclusions, I’m in.”
Tempest smiled “Group hug?” Soon she was surrounded by her family as they all hugged her and each other.
After breaking away, Tempest frowned “Who is the Bloom from the other world?”
Luna frowned “She was actually a twenty year old guy named Tom, apparently in his world we are all characters in a TV Show and he was dressed up as Apple Bloom then turned into her and then ended up here.”
Tempest grimaced “That stinks, they likely didn’t know that would happen. Hmm I need more details but if it was anything like the other person’s they had no idea of what happened and how they got here.”
Celestia frowned “What should we do?”
Sunset spoke up “Nothing, Applejack is stubborn one and the only way to change her mind is to wait for it to hurt her, I know it is not the best way but there is no convincing her sometimes. This version of Apple Bloom lied to her and you know how she is stickler for honesty.” Everyone in the room sighed knowing there was little they could do about this.
Tempest was standing at the entry to the School when Cinch got out of the bus that was delivering Crystal Prep to Canterlot High. Cinch walked over to Celestia “Good morning Principal Celestia.”
Celestia smiled “Good morning Principal Cinch, ready to win again.”
Cinch chuckled “Not Quite, you have been improving considerably you may just win this year.” The two chatted about their schools as the students left the bus, Luna and Cadence also were talking.
Cinch and Celestia walked through the halls, Celestia showed her the music room to see only for them to see Twilight, Twilight turned to Principal Cinch “I was just following the readings my device was giving off and…”
Cinch frowned “Don’t worry about it, just remember you are a participant in these games, don’t let your research make forget that. Come on I need you with the rest of the team.”
Cinch walked out with Twilight, Tempest frowned as Sunset tried to go through the portal only for Twilight’s pendant to suck the magic out of it. Later, Tempest joined Sunset and her friends Applejack blinked “What do you mean this portal’s gone?”
Sunset grimaced “That’s just it, the portal’s gone and I have no idea why?”
Rainbow Dash asked “How did it happen?”
Tempest frowned “Twilight did something, I was watching the whole thing.”
Applejack frowned “Then we better figure out what.” Tempest sighed as she followed the group who headed towards the Crystal Prep kids, Sunset frowned “What were you doing around that portal?”
Indigo Zap one of the other Crystal Prep students growled “Who wants to know?”
Rainbow frowned “We do, I thought it was obvious?”
Principal Cinch saw what was an inevitable argument and walked over “Now now we are guests, no need to be so hostile” she then saw Tempest and grinned “Tempest.”
Tempest and Cinch bumped fists “It’s good to see you here, this is my daughter Sunset.”
Cinch smiled as she looked at Sunset “If you’re as smart as your mother says you are going to give us quite the run for our money” she then turned back to Tempest “I have to go, I have to be up on stage with Celestia.” All members of both groups were shocked at how well Tempest and Cinch got along.
Sunset blinked “Why are you all shocked?”
Everyone except Tempest turned to Sunset“We have never seen Principal Cinch be that friendly with anyone ever, she always seems so guarded.”
Sunset exclaimed “Really, I wouldn’t think considering how she really cuts loose when she joins my family for dinner or we go out to see a movie or someling.”
Before anything else could be discussed, Celestia walked forward with a smile “Hello everyone I hope you are all getting along with our guests from Crystal Prep.”
Twilight looked at Pinkie Pie who had two cannons “What are these contraptions for?”
Pinkie Pie grinned as she hugged the cannons “They are for parties, they are party cannons after all.”
Celestia continued “I would also like to applaud the twelve students who we have put forward to compete in the games, I don’t think we could have picked a better set of candidates to represent the excellence, sportsmanship and the friendship that these games stand for.”
Music began to play, the students were chatting. A pair of loud cannons boomed and suddenly a massive party had formed around the students, Cinch then walked up to the mic and tapped it, all the partying ceased for the moment. Cinch smiled “I would like to offer Canterlot High my respect for giving us such a warm welcome, and judging from their selection we might just have a challenge on our hands, good luck everyone, one way or the other this will be a Friendship Games to remember!”
Everyone cheered, Celestia smiled “I am impressed Cinch, you have really learned how to cut loose.”
Cinch sighed “Tempest has been a good influence on me, she treats me like the family I never had. I missed out on so much when I was younger.” Cinch walked away with a frown on her face.
The next day a message came from the P.A system “Good morning students , today is when the Friendship Games truly begins, the competitors will be faces with every aspect of the CHS Curriculum culminating in the elimination Equation.”
Everyone arrived in the auditorium, Tempest smiled at Sunset “Looks like we’re ready to begin.”
Cadence smiled as she walked to the microphone, she grabbed and turned to the crow “Welcome to the first event , the Academic Decathlon whether it be Chemistry, Home Economics or anything in between you will be tested on it only the six best students from each team will move onto to the next round, best of luck!”
The Shadowbolts won the first round after Derpy and Lyra’s chemistry product exploded, Cinch smiled at the two Shadowbolts who had won the round “Good work.”
The next round however had Cinch stunned, the Shadowbolts made a marvellous cake only for Pinkie and Fluttershy to make a cake with Manesa Lisa inside. Cinch sighed as she looked at her participants “Normally I would be mad but honestly I can’t blame you, I have no idea how anyone could compete with someone who could do that.”
The spelling bee had her fuming “That was horrible, how did you screw that up so badly. It was just spelling, we have a test every week for that and only Twilight passed the first round! You better hope she wins the elimination equation!”
Cinch was standing next to Tempest “Looks like it’s my best student at least academically vs you daughter.”
Tempest smiled her wings flaring out slightly “Sunset’s got this.”
Cinch raised an eyebrow “You really need to tell me how you got those wings one day other than magic.”
Tempest smiled “Maybe after the games but for now let’s see who wins.”
Twilight nervously walked up while Sunset was wearing a cocky grin. Cinch walked in between them and wrote up a really complicated equation. Twilight thought (This is really tough, I wasn’t expecting this type of question from Canterlot.)
Sunset meanwhile grinned as thought (This will be foal’s play, most foals learned harder stuff than this in their first year at school.)
Cinch turned to them “Begin.” Cinch looked between the two of them, Cinch frowned as Twilight who was slowly figuring out each part of the problem while Sunset was blitzing through it with ease, Sunset smiled before Twilight was even half finished “Done.”
Cinch walked over and looked over before her eyes widened “It’s correct.”
Luna smiled “Looks like Canterlot High take the first round.”
Twilight walked back to the group, Sugarcoat turned to her “You screwed up.”
Indigo Zap growled “We’re going to lose because of you!”
Cinch frowned as the rest of the Crystal Prep Students surrounded her, she walked over “Enough! This behaviour ill-fitting of students at Crystals Prep.”
The rest of the girls left the room with a scowl, Cinch shook her head “Look at me Twilight, that was no simple equation I put up there, that was something for last year uni students in physics doing a doctorate or masters to be doing. I wanted to push you, I have no idea how that girl managed that but don’\t feel bad that girl is a genius among geniuses.”
Tempest meanwhile was standing next to Sunset, Tempest smiled “That was good work.”
Sunset laughed “Not really back home in Equestria every unicorn foal can do more than that, she then sighed I still don’t know how magic works here and with that girl wandering around this is getting more dangerous.”
When the next event began after the Wondertones performed, Cinch and Tempest were watching closely. Tempest frowned as the two watched Twilight’s horrendous attempts at trying to hit the target, Cinch sighed “She never was an athlete and with her screwing this up everyone of the other kids are going to jump on her.”
Tempest frowned “I know.”
Cinch blinked in confusion as massive vines appeared on the field, the she frowned as she saw Rainbow Dash flying around the field with wings “What is going on Tempest?”
Tempest grinned sheepishly “Magic.”
Cinch’s eyes narrowed “Magic huh, hmm.”
Soon the final event begun to start, Cinch grimaced “We’ve lost already but if I get Twilight to win this somehow I could save her from being constantly bullied but how…” she then saw the strange pendant Twilight was wearing.
Cinch walked over to her “What were you using that pendent for.”
Twilight blinked “It was supposed to track EM waves, it also absorbs what the girls here call magic.”
Cinch frowned (Maybe yes I need her to win this, to save her from shame, time to play bitch.) Cinch frowned “Well then considering how you all have performed horribly this is the last chance to gain some dignity back.”
The Shadowbolts as well as Cinch began to sing I realize that you've always been an outcast It's not everyone at school who likes to think To find a student that's like you I've had one or maybe two But the good ones disappear before I blink (Oh, wuh-oh-wuh, oh Oh, wuh-oh-wuh) Now, I understand you have your reservations (oh-wuh) It's hard to have a brain as large as yours (oh-oh-oh-oh) But if we don't win this round Well, I think I've made it plain What will happen if we loss all our dignity! And what doors will open if I use it Cadence smiled“..the last event of the Friendship Games begins.”
Cadence and Luna as well as the Shadowbolts shouted “Now!”
Twilight opened the device which released it’s energy before it dropped to the ground, Spike gasped in shock, as Twilight screamed as she was pulled into the glowing mass of purple energy “Ssssssssoooooommmmmoooonnnneeeeee hhhheeeeeeeeellllllppp!” Spike whimpered as she morphed into a new form her skin darkening and pair of wings flying out of her back she grinned at Sunset “Hahahahahahaha you were right! I didn’t understand magic before, BUT I DO NOW!”
Cinch collapsed to the ground tears forming in her eyes “This is all my fault!” she slammed her fist into the ground. Tempest grabbed Cinch as Midnight Sparkle began firing blasts at everywhere opening portals.
Sunset and her friends acrobatically dodged the beams while rescuing people who had fallen into the dimensional holes, Midnight then turned to Applejack and cackled madly “Time to die, Applejack! You deserve this for how you treated you sister!”
Cinch and Tempest watched in horror as Apple Bloom ran into her sister and pushed her away before falling into a dimensional hole. They all watch as Applejack tries and fails to rescue her sister, the other Apple Bloom watching in a mix of shock and horror from a distance.
Sunset looks at her crying friend and takes a deep breath, she then shouted desperately “This isn’t the way! I know how it feels, the power like you can have whatever you want! I’ve been where you are and I’ve made the same mistake you’re making! I put on an artefact of incredible power and just like you it overwhelmed me with it’s power! It thought I could get whatever I wanted but I was wrong!”
Midnight Sparkle laughed “That’s where your wrong, I can get everything I ever wanted because I am not weak like you!”
Sunset frowned at Midnight Sparkle as she picked up the strange device “I have learned a vital lesson while I was here, even with all that power you will always be alone, true power comes from Honesty! Loyalty! Generosity! Laughter! And Kindness! I want to help you understand the most powerful magic of all…” Sunset threw the device down releasing the magic transforming into an Alicorn like form “The Magic of Friendship!”
Midnight and Sunset clashed, Sunset’s beam was being pushed back by Midnight’s. Then Spike shouted “Twilight!”
Midnight turned to Spike her eyes returning to normal “Spike?” Sunset then begins to push more energy into her beam. A few seconds later Sunset and Twilight landed, Twilight began to cry “I’m sorry I had no intention for this to happen.” Susnet gave her a warm hug as the girl cried onto ehr shoulder
Applejack stormed over her tears replaced with fury, Cinch saw this and turned to Tempest with a calm smile “Please let me go.”
Tempest nodded letting her friend run in front of Twilight, Cinch looked at Applejack “This is my fault not hers if you wish to take it out on me go on ahead.” Cinch didn’t flinch as Applejack roared wailing on Cinch with fury until she was worn out and walked off in tears.
Cinch sighed as she turned to the school “This is all my fault, I will be resigning from my position soon.”
It was a later that day, Cinch was filling for Twilight’s transfer with Principal Celestia. Tempest was standing there with the seven girls near the portal. Applejack was crying onto Rainbow’s shoulder “I treated her so badly.”
Twilight meanwhile was crying onto Sunset’s shoulder. Tempest scowled at herself internally (You could have saved that girl you stupid fool, are you really that afraid of your own power?!)
Just then the portal glowed and Princess Twilight jumped out “Sorry girls, I’m so sorry I couldn’t get here sooner it’s just I couldn't receive your messages because.. why is everyone upset…”
Sunset explained everything to her, Princess Twilight growled “Why didn’t you do something, what good is all that power if you can’t use it!”
Tempest felt fury welling up in her, a rainbow aura glowed around her body as she stepped forward “You don’t truly understand anything do you? I am scared of what I could do if I lost control! What if I kill my daughter, destroy the skill or even obliterate the entire planet! Do you think I wanted to stay out of this, I made my choice because I would risked killing someone who didn’t deserve it because of some else’s mistake!”
A voice spoke “That mistake would’ve been mine.” They turned around to see Cinch, if Cinch was surprised at the two Twilight’s she didn’t show it” She turned to Twilight “Your transfer has been approved, you are now a Canterlot High student.” She then turned to Tempest “Take a deep breath.”
Princess Twilight growled “So this is you fault?!”
Sunset stood up, the crying Twilight looking “Enough, Twilight it’s a lot more complicated then that.”
Princess Twilight turned to her “She caused irreparable …”
Sunset stomped her foot fury in her eyes “Princess Twilight, enough so did I, I almost killed you and the five I now call friends because of the fact I made a dumb mistake, she and I are not so different!”
Cinch frowned “I better leave, I should not cause a conflict between friends.”
Tempest sighed “I’ll go too, I need to be alone.”
Princess Twilight raised her hand after taking a deep breath “Wait, sorry can we talk please?”
Cinch sighed “There is no need to apologise, I stuffed up. I’m going to resign and probably become a tutor or something.”
Tempest sighed “It’s fine, we all made some mistakes let’s leave it at that.” Princess Twilight turned to Sunset “I’m sorry too, I lost my temper.”
Sunset smiled “We all make mistakes, I’m sorry I exploded.” The two hugged and Princess Twilight soon left through the portal.
2 weeks later
Sunset had been spending more time with Applejack over the two weeks after Applebloom’s disappearance. Tempest was walking through the hallways, Cinch became a tutor for any struggling kids at Crystal Prep.
Tempest entered the staff room and took her seat at her desk. The School was still mourning Apple Bloom. Berry Punch sighed “How’s Applejack doling, you spend a lot of time with that group of friends.”
Tempest sighed “She’s been quiet and withdrawn, Sunset has been trying to cheer her up.” Tempest stood up “I need to speak to Principal Celestia, there are some things I would like to discuss with her.”
Tempest headed to Celestia’s office, she knocked on the door. Celestia frowned “I assume this is about Camp Everfree, we are going to be going there as soon as possible. You know what help me flesh out some of the details.” Tempest nodded as she entered, Celestia frowned “I was thinking we should allow as many as we can to come, of course the bus will have limited spots.”
Tempest frowned “I feel the girls should go along with Twilight, they have been the centre of many of these events, also if we can Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo as well, I hope this will allow them to help get over the loss of their friend and…”
Berry Punch burst in the door “Apple Bloom is back!”
Celestia turned to Tempest and wrapped the stunned woman as she cried “She’s back, she’s alive.” Berry Punch just closed the door quietly unsure of what to say.
Apple Bloom’s return had brought much joy to the school, Tempest was busy preparing herself and Sunset for the trip to Camp Everfree the next morning. She heard a knock on the door and opened it revealing three men in black suits, she frowned “What may ask are you there here?”
The one on the left who held an air of one from the upper classes smiled “Forgive us for coming so late at night but there something important we need to discuss with you.”
Tempest frowned “Who are you three anyway?”
The one on the left bowed “Forgive my rudeness, I am Mystic, Head of Unicorn. The one next to me is Storm Signal, Head of Pegasus and the Third is Tremor Strike, Head of Gaian.”
Tempest frowned “Come in, I would love to know what the heads of Alicorn want with me.”
The three sat down at her dining table, Tremor the largest of the three growled “Plain and simple we want you help, strange things have been going on all over the world and with you being see at all the strange events going on in this area we wish for your help.”
Tempest frowned “I assume you are the one keep the strange events here top secret so the FBI and CIA don’t come here and start capturing people correct?”
Tempest sighed “I suppose I owe you all for that, very well I’ll help but only if you can’t handle it on your own or you believe they are friendly, if it doesn’t fit either those two categories I’d rather not be called up as someone else could easily be called up and I will start after the trip to Camp Everfree is over. No point going to capture a hostile but harmless creature that can be captured by stun darts is there.”
Storm Signal nodded “That is acceptable, just note you may be away for multiple days.”
Tempest nodded “I can make arrangements.” The trio left shortly afterwords, Tempest finished the preparations for the night.
The next morning Sunset groaned as she woke up “Mum it’s early.”
Tempest frowned “Yes but we do need to leave early for the trip to Camp Everfree.” Sunset groaned as she got out of bed and had a quick shower. Tempest meanwhile was shoving all of their gear for the trip into her car.
Sunset asked as she got into the car “Is the camp a fun place to go?”
Tempest grinned “You’ll love it, you get to spend a lot of time outside and do all kinds of activities.”
Sunset raised an eyebrow “Rarity was really excited, that seems a little out of character for her. She doesn’t like to rough it.”
Tempest smiled “They probably have cabins now, they won’t likely to rough it like we did.” They soon arrived at the school, Tempest smiled “How’s everything going, it seems everyone is here.”
Celestia smiled “Could you help us pack everyone’s stuff, we have a lot that needs to fit in there.” Tempest nodded as she began stuffing people’s bags into the bus’ storage compartment while Sunset had put her stuff in and boarded the bus.
Discord approached “Hurry it up will you, I want to get going already.”
Tempest raised an eyebrow as grinned “Do you want to join the luggage, it would be easy as one, two, three?” Discord gulped before running into the bus, Tempest chuckled as she put the rest of the luggage in the bus and took a seat, she closed her eyes.
She hummed silently until the bus reared back, she turned around to see three girls who had snuck onto the bus. She shrugged and laid back down to relax until they got off and she inevitably had to remove the luggage from the bus.
