After being assured by some readers that the negativity has been coming from a very vocal minority, I've continued writing and pushed out the longest chapter yet at 2500+ words!
I'm fairly happy with this chapter and am eager for some feedback concerning the character interactions.

I'll just need to write with the knowledge that the majority of readers who enjoy the story simply don't leave feedback. I can live with that, so long as new readers aren't scared away because of it.

My motivation for completing this story is being seriously tested.

The story has now received two poor ratings and two good ratings, averaging out at 2.8 stars and still no explanations for the low star count. This has a devastating effect on a writer's morale, especially so early in the story's creation.

This chapter took me all day to write. I wanted accurate descriptions of Canterlot and a clear depiction of the relationship between James and Apple Bloom. I think I was finally able to pull it off without too many grammatical errors or "filler" paragraphs in the story.

I've gone back to Chapter 1 and made a few changes.

I noticed that around 50 people had read the story all the way through. The same number had read up to Chapter 2, so between Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 I didn't lose any readers.

It was from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2 that I was losing readers (about 30, in fact) and I think I know the reason why.

As this is still a work in progress, I've gone back over the chapters and have done some basic editing, mainly to the areas involving character speech. Some errors may still remain, and the wording could be changed later to provide a more coherent story flow.

Once the story if finished I will go back over and do a final editing makeover before clicking the story as "Complete".

Well The Final Element is finally up on the front page.

I made a quick alteration and renamed Chapter 1 to "Prologue" and subsequently changed Chapter 2 into Chapter 1.

I also want to make a clarification in Chapter 1 in which the "crowd" of people is around the sidewalk. This "crowd" actually consists of about 5 - 8 people and I should have used the word "group" instead to avoid readers thinking there are more people than there were.

Well Chapter 2 is already finished and the story hasn't even been officially posted yet.

Before I began writing chapter 2 I knew the action levels would drop, as would reader interest, to an extent. Going from a scene of mass carnage and death to a typical family scene is just asking for it, but I want the reader to understand a bit of how the main protagonist's mind works and what his motivations were before he came upon the land of Equestria. I hope this chapter sheds a light on that.
