I like how you've portrayed the military and government.
It's very nice to see a story have them actually be human, since that's what they are, rather than an unfeeling machine that some people seem to think they are.
I was happy to see them doing their job to protect the community and in the process give the trans-dimensional visitor a better perspective of the world as a whole, than some drugged out criminal who would obviously say the world and it's leaders are shit.
So, once again I want to say I like what you've written and how it's gone.
