This story is a sequel to Shadows of Canterlot

Join Trixie, agent of the Conclave – an elite and covert congregation of unicorns sworn to protect ponies from magic… and magic from ponies, sometimes!

Plot against unicorns and the magic itself thickens! After unfortunate events of the last Nightmare Night, Trixie’s pursuit after the mysterious cult continues. Will she be able to find an ancient artifact while seeking revenge herself? With an unlikely alliance she’ll forge, she might have that chance!

But there are battles that cannot be won by outstanding magic - ones that we fight with ourselves, ones that we fear to lose...

conclave? sounds like Enclave, but ill read this later. :pinkiehappy:

The premise sounds interesting... I added all three to my read later list. Now to read them...

Equilibrium?

I read the title and the summary and all I could think of was the movie with that same name...:applejackunsure:

Silver out!

Oh, Equilibrium is a great movie! Christian Bale was so young. :pinkiehappy: But no, my story is in no way connected to the plot of the movie - they were trying to withhold their emotions, Trixie would rather burst out with them, right?

1377085
Take your time... also, please tell me if my writing skills are heading into the right direction with each story!

1380558

Yeah, I love some of the moves with the firearms in that movie and the plot was pretty good too. :pinkiehappy:

Silver out!

So, is Twilight a member of the Conclave now? Or did the Princess just assign her to help without telling her everything? I really think Trixie needs Twilight right now, though.

It looks like Trixie is in a downward spiral. She needs to be stopped and reassured about trust. I eagerly await the next chapter.

After fighting throught waves of "Read Later" Chaos finally makes it.

Prane Dragonvar's Arcane Equilibrium!

And it was glorious.

And with Twilight in hand...

OH man. I am SO glad I finally made it past all those tales. :rainbowkiss:

Ohhh, boy. Racist hate crimes. Alright. Seems Legit...

I eagerly await the next chapter, Archiver. :pinkiehappy:

1489647
I still don't know why you call me the Archiver, but it sounds pretty well.
Anyway, the next chapter should be on this week - I was recently focusing on another story for EQD contest and didn't have time to re-check Chapter 3. In other words, coming soon. :raritywink:

1491483

You are an Archiver, Dragonver.

A member of the Conclave, you don't actually go on adventures but you detail and write them down for the next generation of recruits.

Though, I don't know why you like Agent Lulamoon so much...

Maybe she's that awesome? Excites you? Gets your blood pumping?

...

In more ways than one? :unsuresweetie:

I could probably write an essay on why do I like Trixie. Maybe one day I'll do!
For now, let's just say I believe this mare deserves more than just one episode! :trixieshiftright:

well, that explains Rarity being in the picture. this is getting good, keep it up.

(let me just get it clear. the enemy doesn't like unicorns right? and most of them aren't unicorns themselves, meaning earth-ponies and pegasi, right? so Twi', Seek, and Trix' are gonna have a hard time dealing with them, since their fighting the two of their species counterparts; being stronger and faster than them.)

I would have thought Rarity was already a Conclave member (it would explain her martial arts). It will be interesting to see how Rarity reacts to seeing Trixie with Twilight. BTW, Sunseeker likes Trixie.

Why is Moonwarden doing this and why did they allow him to join if they hate unicorns?

After all, he was just following her plan.

I have a feeling 'her' isn't Feldora.

1599684

Moonwarden is crucial if the Cult wants to get inside Star Swirl's tomb... it seems though that his loyalties lie elsewhere...

Good reading, keep it up.

Chapter 5 has landed! With a slight delay, due to that Scootaloo/Zecora one-shot I wrote, but it's a bit longer than the usual.
Which reminds me: the big day is coming tomorrow for all Trixie enthusiasts - I just wanted to note that (when it comes to timeline) this story is set roughly at the beginning of Season 2. Therefore, characters might not be canon-accurate with S3 stuff.
Okay, what I REALLY wanted to note is that I hope they didn't turn Trixie into a generic one-time villain. You know my headcanon on this one. :trixieshiftright:
Anyway, enjoy the chapter! :pinkiehappy:

Dunno if you seen the spoiler clips, but they aren't doing a good job of reassuring us Trixie redeemers. At the very least, the reason she comes back is the same as every other Trixie fic.

1714740
I did, actually, and if they're making her all vengeful and Twilight-obsessed, then so be it. I just hope for a vivid backstory in that, no Sombra-like villainess.
But hay, in the end that's what fandoms and fanfics are about - to promote different takes on certain things.

1714948
I hope it works out with Trixie and the Mane 6 in the end, but I have my moping corner ready just in case. :raritywink:
Also I noticed that Trixie is not using illeisms (third-person). Is this a sign?

1714574 I am so looking forward to seeing 'Magic Duel.' I seriously hope Trixie meets our expectations. However, I have a feeling the writers and producers won't share our view. By Celestia, I hope I'm wrong.

As for the story, it figures Rarity knew about the Conclave. Hell, I surprised she's not a member. I also figures Rarity would be able to help Trixie a little with Moonwarden's betrayal. Let's see how this goes.

Damn I wish I had Hub. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait for it to go on youtube...
Anyway, really love where you're going with the story. I cannot WAIT for further epicness of epics :yay:!

I am happy to announce that Chapter 6 is on! :raritywink:
If somebody was wondering where I've been for the past weeks - click here. Yep. Now you can't call me lazy! A bit tardy, perhaps... :twilightoops:
Anyway, sorry to keep you waiting, I hope that the chapter lengh once again makes up for it. Enjoy!

I have a feeling that Sweetie Belle will make a fine Conclave agent when she gets older. So Gilda is the head of a squadron of griffons...okay. This isn't going to be pretty.

No comments on this chapter? That's weird. In any case, interesting back story for Gilda. I'm just waiting to find out what Equestria will be up against (and if Moonwarden is actually a double agent sent by Luna.)

At least that have a way to move forward. I have a feeling that Moonwarden isn't dead.

So this is it!
I hope that reading my story was a enjoyable and worthwhile experience for all of you. Did you like it? Then give it a thumbs up, fav, or just express your satisfaction - or dissatisfaction - in the comments section!

Also, as the final installment of The Conclave Trilogy won't happen anytime soon, I would like to turn your attention to Peaceful Nights - a story which is set before Shadows of Canterlot and tells the story of well-known unicorn Moonwarden prior to the said events. How did he get into this? Were the nights really that peaceful? And who is he, exactly? This, and more, comes from Gulheru; it's his first published story, so go give him some love! NOW!

I'll be working on my Batman fic now. In the meantime, I'll keep rewatching old episodes and writing various stuff on my blog. Especially that post, if you feel you're missing something from The Conclave Trilogy.

Also, I'm happy to announce that I uploaded a revised version of Edge of Reason, from which it all began. RELIVE THE BEGINNING and stuff. Also new cover and ~500 words added, yay!

There are many people I'd like to thank for helping me with Arcane Equilibrium, but I want to wrap them all up when I'll finish The Conclave Trilogy. In other words, commenters and contributors shall not be forgotten!

Twilight is left to the mob and Trixie is confronted by Moonwarden, who Trixie thought was dead. You sir, really know how to end a story with a cliffhanger.
I HATE IT!!!:flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage:
However, I really did like the series. I look forward to Showmare's Gambit.

I would usually be too afraid to reply to a comment consisting of three angry Fluttershys and a giant 'I HATE IT', but since you've been giving me a feedback since the very beginning, I'd like to hereby thank you for that! Because of you, I was able to monitor whether or not a reader could pick up nuances and hints that I wanted to weave into chapters - and for that, I am grateful!

precipice of a breakthrough. Or a threshold, or a brink.

Yay for callbacks.

How did Rarity know about the conclave? If it's as easy as she made it seem(and I'm pretty sure it isn't) than how is it a secret? If not, then what other source of info does she have that other people don't?

5583863
I think that was never properly explained but I have an answer for you anyway.

Mirrorless tells a tale of Rarity's venture into the Everfree Forest, quite perilous in fact, and if there was an extra epilogue to that piece it would be a scene where Rarity is being helped out by another member of the Conclave. The two would then have a talk after which Rarity would understood how dangerous magic is, and why there must be ponies protecting it.

Then again, I never wrote or hinted at such scene until now.

Clover the Clever believed that the earth ponies would be too ignorant and uneducated to figure out the first trial.

Clover the Clever promoted harmony between the tribes in hearts warming eve. She couldn't have been that tribalist. It makes no sense and contradicts what we know from the show.

‘If that Moonwarden of yours will pluck a feather of Goriel’s wing,’, she grinned. ‘I’ll tear his heart out. Literally.’
‘That’s the spirit!

Um........ Trixie? You do know what literally means, right? It seems a bit harsh.

That sort of came out of nowhere, with no build -up, and is rather convenient. *Cough*deus-ex-machina*cough*.

It looks like Trixie took a level in badass, but is seeing a decline in her mental stability. It's a shame, because she'll need every last inch of it to put up with Books Horse.

Man, I wonder what nut managed to convince a bunch of ponies that he's Star Swirl reincarnated. Trixie better get her act together, no pun intended, before she goes out on her mission or else she'll be a liability more than anything else.

Uh-oh, Rarity incoming.

Gee, wait until she finds out Trixie is a member of a secret agency dedicated to protecting Equestria :duck:

Also, sounds a little bit like NCIS Equestria there in this chapter.

I wonder who the 'her' Moonwarden is referring to is, as well as the unicorn that is faking being Star Swirl...if he IS a unicorn, at that. Maybe Moonwarden's a double agent and secretly working for the Conclave still?

Damn, Rarity! She's got an eye for more than just fashion, it seems. It looks more like Twilight is the Book-smart one while Rarity is the social-smart one, able to figure out the existence of not one but at least two separate agencies just from observation. Of course, that means all these secret organisations aren't really that secret, then.

As soon as the griffon said 'dweeb' I just knew she was Gilda.

I half-expect Trixie and co will succeed in their mission, only to return to Ponyville and have Trixie be chased out since Sweetie convinced everyone she's some evil pony bent on world domination.

Looks like Chrysalis outplotted everyone. I guess the fake Star Swirl was another Changeling, and she was using Moonwarden to get through all of Clover's traps. Moonwarden meanwhile was trying to set her up, at someone else's orders, who may or may not have been one of the Council members telling him to go in for deep cover.

Needless to say, Trixie and co are in for a storm when they get to the castle.

Aw, poor Gilda. I have a feeling there'll be a kick the dog moment upcoming.

All this talk of wind and snow makes me wonder if the Windigos are coming back and will need to be dispelled in the next few chapters.

Remember Trixie, if you don't find a body you can't assume he's dead.

I wonder if those are real Nightguards at the end, or Chrysalis' agents in disguise meant to lead the heroes into a trap.

Trixie inadvertently teleported at the end there? Or perhaps Moonwarden came back and saved her.

I would love to hear some of Rarity's stories about those 'worse places' she's been in. Maybe the seedy underbelly of Canterlot in order to get her designs sold off?

Well, since you never did actually write the sequel, I guess this is the end of this storyline for Trixie and co :trixieshiftleft:

Indeed, the conclusion in form of Showmare's Gambit (that's how the third story in this trilogy was supposed to be titled) never came and never will, as explained somewhere here. As for Rarity's other adventure, that was actually a reference to another super old story of mine, Mirrorless. If you're interested in the character of Moonwarden, check out Gulheru's Journey with a Batpony since he has a role there.

Thanks for reading, and sorry for poor quality of just about everything in this story and its prequel. I do hope you'll find yourself commenting under some of my newer works as well - it's always good to know what people think about each of the chapters, or particular scenes individually.

Hello author, I just finished the last chapter, I started to read this series because of Moonwarden. (he is also a character of the story Journey with a batpony of Gulheru)
I know this is one of your first stories, but I found it very captivating and pleasant to read and I'm a little sad that its sequel has been cancelled.
In the Journey there are so many references to this series that it feels like a sequel of it.
