7643857 The Princesses were imprisoned. As for choosing love tanks, they're mostly picked at random, although in cases like Shining's, Chrysalis may choose them as an act of revenge.

7719163 Well, it is an alternate ending, i.e. non-canon. I just put it in there for anyone who wanted a happier ending.
Not sure why I read this, but I loved the depiction of changelings in this. Actually gave me an idea for a story premise: a poor pony is turned into a drone in this way, but she regains her mind once Chrysalis is deposed. However, her life is still ruined, and she has to come to terms with that.
