Lovely story. This is the second "Scootaloo was actually raised by chickens" story to treat the topic with a semi-straight face, and I've really enjoyed both of them. Great build-up and revelation about Scootaloo's family and origins - especially good timing and treatment with the reveal about how she came to be among the chickens.

I'm looking forward to Scootaloo's parents (assuming Dash's friend is the mother), ponies finding out about her chicken nature, Rainbow helping with flying lessons.
There is so much potential and your first chapter was really good
Personally, I always saw the Scootaloo is a chicken joke as just that, a joke on her expense. So I never really bothered with stories that played the whole thing straight. But since you left such a nice comment on my story, I thought I'd at least give this one a chance.
And I liked it. Still not a fan of the premise, but you pulled it off quite well. I especially liked the part about the faller foals and the comparison of pegasi foals to bird chicks. The part where Twilight tricks RD into helping Scootaloo was pretty solid character interaction.
Overall a very cute story, good work. Keep it uo

Flock and Not-Flock are, of course, typical of birds in this realm, so it's reasonable to think it's similar for birds in Equestria. I've pretty much always disliked the whole Cluckaloo meme; I was not expecting someone to make a good story out of it. But this is a good story, just the same.

1775385 Aw. Because "Sleepless in Ponyville" and "Wonderbolts Academy" kind of rendered what I was going to do non-canon. Not that Scootaloo The Chicken ever was or was going to be canon. Boiling things down, RD and Scootaloo were going to become friends *after* RD agreed to be Scoots' flying coach. It still may happen, but I've got another CMC fanfic that's about to come out.
Hmm, I always did despise the whole Scootaloo chicken meme, but seeing how you're one of my favorite authors, I gave this a chance. And I'm kinda shocked that I liked it. Have my upvote.
4353609 Aw, thanks. Really! In retrospect, I look at this story and think "blergh," but we've all got to start somewhere. I didn't even realize it was a meme or that it was usually a joke at Scootaloo's expense, since only Apple Bloom calls her a chicken!
Anyway, it's packed to the eyebrows with stuff that I was too much of a novice to know had been done to death, but I've still got some fondness for the little thing, and I'm glad when people come by and give it some love.
