A delivery boy/aspiring racer and his rockstar girlfriend are visited by a very cultured pony.

This being Japan, things go exactly as expected right up until the point where they go completely weird.

Oh boy, Octavia in Japan? Something tells me Vinyl would be sooo jealous, Japan seems like her kind of place. Can't wait to see how this goes!

Octavia meets initial D? Or is it just generic "racing Japanese poor guy" + hot girlfriend meet magical pony?

Either way, want more :raritywink:

R32 GTR?! YES!! *hits fave button*

Interesting move for Octavia to not speak, in an understanable way, as of yet. (Asuming she can in this story.)

Another beginning to another awesome story

Kinda interesting so far.

Not that bad of a chapter, I say and leaves me itching for more!

Their unquestioning acceptance of Octavia's sentient behavior and ability to "manipulate" objects with her hooves gives this story a positively dreamlike atmosphere. I am intrigued! :trixieshiftright:

I've been to Japan many times over the years. I usually ascribed the feeling to jet lag. :trixieshiftright:

You would think all he would have to do to get the person at the desk to take him seriously is pick up Octavia and put her on the desk but eh, they probably wouldn't be helpful anyway.

7118993 Yeah, he should have just taken Octavia in there with him to that professor. Then she'd believe him... Maybe.

I liked "Bullet the Bullet" in this part. Best character in the chapter, thanks to that name of his.

Only the late Steve Mcqueen can be Bullitt! :moustache:

Okay, that ending was... weird but it works! Great tale!

Did Nakagawa-san’s shiba inu get out again? he wondered. Wow.

Much escape. Such reference. Many dead meme.

This is begging for a sequel. Gotta say, with a name like that and a skyline, I was expecting way more racing. Initial D levels of racing, at least :rainbowdetermined2:

The Vinyl Way of going back did surprise me, though :trixieshiftright:

Well that certainly happened. This is probably the first story in awhile I think could fit into the "Valiant-verse".

Just the mere presence of that Skyline R32...I just want to read more.

Because if it's got a skyline it's gonna be awesome. period. :rainbowkiss:

Oh god I was sqqueing like a fangirl over that Wangan scene. :rainbowkiss: "Heartbreaker" was literally playing in my head the whole time.

Great story, reminded me of Wangan Midnight at some points. god how I love japan...

That was really weird. Kinda cute? Very little development between the protag and Octavia, it seemed, but it fit into the tone of the story, kinda. Everything sounded a bit deary almost, and the lack of interaction between the two seemed like the two just fell into a mutual understanding.

Ghost in the Shell falls into mind, for some reason.

Well this was a fun little story. Definitely a fresh take on the "pony appears on earth and lives with a guy" type of story. The setting really made it something special, and made me want to revisit Tokyo. I also liked that Tavi didn't speak English (or Japanese) and that the communication between her and the protagonist was entirely nonverbal. It was also very refreshing to see the protagonist make absolutely no effort to hide the pony from the rest of the world, while the rest of the world in turn only reacts to her with mild curiosity rather than full on disbelief and panic, or getting the government involved like many stories like this tend to do. My only complaints were that it was perhaps too short, and the ending especially felt very rushed: Kind of a deus ex machina really.

I also felt that while the story was pretty well written, you could have done a lot more with it (again: Too short). There wasn't really much conflict that involved Octavia herself beyond the admittedly half-baked attempts to get her home. Even if it would have been predictable or cliche, the story needed a little extra something to give it more weight. Maybe Hagane and Blue's relationship actually falling apart as it seemed to be doing for a while, and Hagane getting angry and blaming Octavia in his heartbroken state only for them to make up later. Or maybe Octavia getting upset and losing hope for a bit after Hagane fails to find a way to send her home. Either of those or something similar would have done wonders to give Octavia more of an active role in the story. Even as a character who can only communicate non-verbally, she could have done a lot more.

But I digress, there was definitely a very pleasant and almost surreal feeling behind this story and I greatly enjoyed reading it.
