4980410 The main character of Death Note is Light, and the spirit (who is a disembodied voice for almost every episode except for the first and last episodes) is named Ryuk. He's the original owner of the Death Note.
At least, that's what Wikipedia says. (too lazy to rewatch the four hour long series)
Also, Ryuk is a spirit, because the Death Note is cursed to write the owner's name after its purpose to the owner is fulfilled. So I thought that Derpy wouldn't derp until the end (once she has had her random Derp Note purpose fulfilled). Ah, well. More derp for me!

Mostly dialogue-related.
When a sentence continues after the speaker is finished, their sentence ends with a comma (or, when appropriate, a question mark or exclamation point) and the next word is not capitalized. I've been editing for a few years now, and this is the single most common thing I run across. There's also the occasional instance of two characters speaking in the same paragraph. Give it a quick sweep though and you should be able to catch most of them yourself.
I also ran across the occasional detail that left me stumbling - for instance, why wouldn't Twilight Sparkle care that Ditzy derped an innocent pony? - but the rest of it comes together well enough that I didn't mind. There are some minor pacing issues, partly to do with how paragraphs are lumped together, but that's a structural thing that gets easier with time and practice. For a first fanfic (feel free to correct me on that) you're off to a great start. Keep at it.

For what it's worth, yes, this is my first fan fic. Thank you for the sentence advice, I do tend to have a bit of trouble with that. I'll be looking for those two speakers in one paragraph error. And regarding why Twilight didn't care that Ditzy derped Lyra, I'll be covering that more in the third chapter, and alternate ending.
