Wait...time travel? Time travel for her? Really? Well, that's definitely a surprise. Didn't expect it to come from anyone but the good doctor. This is new. And intriguing.

Added to Guild of Equestrian Railroaders
Also, where did you get the cover art? I like it, with the locomotive in shadow and the sunset behind it.

Intriguing you say? Hrm - well I'll do my utmost best to reward that intrigue!

4794628

Honoured to be aboard Railroad Brony. As for the cover art, it's a screencap from a movie - I'll PM you the details.

For what its worth, I am a railfan and I intend the story to reflect that, while still being a good story in of itself, but with 1200 miles to go and a lot of cargo being swapped in and out along the way, we're going to see some interesting American, Canadian and even British rolling-stock in the course of the journey.

God dam. This is an interesting idea. Defiantly a story to watch.

4794644 I know that engine! It;s from Runaway Train!

“Hey! Is somepony...somebody meeting her here?”
“I'd certainly hope so. It does seem like a dreadful place to be stranded.”

That sounds vaguely familiar...

I'm amazed I got as many of the references as I did.
So, the flights from Lost and Die Hard 2 are part of the evacuation, as well as a Fedex flight (bonus points there) piloted by Tom Hanks, Tom Hanks, Tom Hanks, and Tom Hanks! Despite the fact that the MD-11 requires 2 crew, to 4 crew on the much cooler DC-10.

Also, I'm not sure if this is a reference, but are the Grand Continental cars from Under Siege 2, or not?

TB3

4795340

Yes indeed sir - though I went with the MD-11 because that was the plane (FedEx Flight 88) that went down with Tom Hanks onboard in Castaway! Hanks clones C and D might be dead-heading or responsible for keeping inventory of the cargo.

There are more references though - lets just say that none of these planes have had happy histories...:scootangel:

And correct again on Under Seige 2. Where's Steven Segal when you need him? Guess I'll just have to settle for the Burt Lancaster cameo.

I had to look up the other two, and you know, I really don't think I'd fly on Volee anytime soon.

And you just had to put motherfuckin' animals on the motherfuckin' South Pacific flight, didn't you?

>Conversion Bureau

Nope. Downvoted.

4796587 hey. Fuck you, I think your face is full of shit.

How did that feel?:pinkiehappy:

Just as intense as ever. I'm really curious about Lightning Dust here. She's so much more tragic than Rainbow Dash, the poor pony bet everything on a WonderBolt. Now she has nothing. Nothing but her own broken, failed, self.

I'll keep an eye on this one, the only other one Ive bothered to read is starvation.

Let me tell you guys, you do a masterful job at these desperate stories. I love you all.

What got this so ferociously downvoted? Seems like an interesting idea.

-Chessie

4797361 because of two reasons.

1. Its a Conversion Bureau story, and people hate it due to its content.

2. Its linked to Spectrum, my story, so it has a lot of hate following it due to a certain group of people following an insane author

Well this looks promising.

4797623 Hey Redskin, I'm a tad bit confused.

Where is TCB Cheese Sandwich? The TV Tropes page said he is a character here, but I can't seem to find the part he appears in.

TB3

4798215 Hi there - Cheese will be a major player in this story, but has not yet appeared. He will within a few chapters though.

4798310 I take it he will not be converting others, and that TCB Pinkie managed to force herself to tell Maud to RUN AWAY.

But now Canon Lighting Dust is on Earth at the same time as her TCB Counterpart did a raid... crap.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32eywT-bQhQ

Although it was a well written and interesting story but....

TCB theory is poop, humanity is superior in every way conceivable. We are the master race

4797361 Continuing from what Red said... TCB is such a giant clusterfuck of people being angry at others that it's often downvoted on general principle. And again, it's involved with Chatoyance, who I'm reasonably sure may be the reason that bronydom has a transphobic reputation.

TB3

4799273 It's sad really - when I first discovered TCB fanfics there were a few I enjoyed (heck I even enjoyed Chatoyance's take on Derpy until we came to the climax and she dropped the bomb that humans have no souls). I then began to look at the subject in a very different light, hence why I was so willing to throw my lot in with Redskin when Spectrum came along.

4799351 There is only so much pessimism I can take.
Chatoyance is so far beyond my limits. But it's not even the thing you mentioned... I saw a recent discussion with her. She considers herself to be writing humans positively.
Let that sink in.

I actually portray humans as being the most creative, adaptive creatures in the multiverse, able to survive our universe, and - even after transformation - stand tall as vital contributors that rejuvenate an entirely different universe.

SHE REALLY SAID THIS.

4799385 I...eee...I've run into Chatoyance.

I'm trans, incidentally, and the brony fandom has been nothing but accepting...but where she's concerned, she makes me want to hide under a blanket. There's only so many layers of 'pretentious' you can paint on before a person starts to resemble a caricature.

I suppose some people take shit a little too far.

-Chessie

4800172 Wait... do you mean she's painting on layers of pretentiousness, or that neither side of the TCB debate is entirely blameless and it's made both sides do terrible things?
...Or did I just not get it?

4800411 ...

Uh... the second I think.

4795461 Gotta get dem snakes of this plane. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'm more curious about Verity the earth pony. Is she a result of an fail experiment of Evil!Twilight's early Newfoal experiments?

4806989 it is a frightful mystery... Which is my way of saying I have no idea.

4806989
4806995 oh trust me, its just one large joke.

4799385 What really pisses me off about her is the way she stated her stories and the way she writes the princesses, the ponies and Equestria is "more in line with Lauren Faust's original vision".

I swear on the graves of my ancestors that I am not making that one up.

And let's not forget how she handles criticism with the maturity level of a toddler.

EDIT!!! Actually, saying she handles criticism with the maturity level of a toddler is an insult to toddlers everywhere.

4845084 TCB would not be anywhere near the clusterfuck it is without chatoyance's bad attitude *sighs*

Looks like you broke the story's wordcount when you tripled it: the new chapter's wordcount hasn't been added to the total.

TB3

4865253

I noticed that at first too. It seems to have resolved itself now.

Just gonna have to chalk it up to a Derp. :derpytongue2:

That moment when you check your email and there's a new chapter...

i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/288/329/8d2.gif

Train 9872.

Last train out of Pony Hell.

Godspeed.

. . .

Poor Lightning Dust... :fluttercry:

Mistake in this paragraph:

Unable to carry on intruding onto the pathetic little scene she began to hunt across the various ships, trying to find something to buoy her spirit. She saw some more of the creatures clustered in morbid silence around the guttering light of a tiny paraffin lamp, canvas shelters billowing around them in the storm. Some distance away two larger ones, stallions perhaps, were fighting one another for what looked like a chunk of bread. And at the stern of one ship several more were disposing of the dead overboard, but not before carefully stripping them of their clothes and possessions. Then, with a sad, painful finality, the naked corpses were consigned to the deep.

You forgot to add "saw" there and there's another mistake where you misspelled "she" in Lightning Dust's part of the story as well.

Speaking of her, I figured she would be taken to Equestria, but not the one she came from, though I do hope she ends up in a stronghold in Earth rather than back to the TCB Equestria.
Once again there's hope for the newfoals if there's an almost normal girl still there, and she was ponified during the war. Though I feel a bit sad that she may have managed to keep her personality because they were "experimenting" at the moment.

TB3

4865306

I'm glad to oblige - hopefully you'll be feeling the same way again soon!

4865463

Thankyou kindly! Though I am geuinely surprised at the depth of your response.

4872918

Thanks for locating those errors - I'll amend them immediately (where was the mis-spelling of 'she'?)

As for Verity...let's just say not everything is as it seems...

4866246

Not quite the last...not yet...(evil chuckle that descends into inane laughter).

*

To everyone who has viewed, voted (up and down), or favourited, all I can say is thankyou!

4875916
Actually I got that wrong, it's "her" that is misspelled and its in between these lines (of which one I will show you in the quotes as before)

Dust, being Dust, didn’t see that, or notice the sinister purpose with which the fliers were descending towards the ships, or the panic their appearance caused on deck.

All she saw were ponies, and to her, that was all that mattered.

“Yes!” she whooped, bounding up to perch on the lip of the rail, all four hooves bunched together and muscles coiling. She felt the wind on her face and gauged its flow over her damaged wings. Yeah, a good kick-off might just give her the lift she needed to reach those guys...

So much for my Hope Spot, you cut that down to 50% now and I'm already coming up with theories to this, two of which being that she has a split personality now or has a newfoal in her brain.

Well...shit.

The first chapter was something that was out of place in the Spectrum 'verse. It showed a peaceful and calm setting...and then, it shocks you with the booby trapped statue and those spy pillars and Celestia's pronouncement.

I just noticed that the whole scene with Kith and Kin Crowing Harmony is symbolic of the whole 'verse. The statue shows the ideal of all species in Equestria in harmony; its explosion symbolizes the death of said harmony and how it will drench Equestria in blood.

Minor gripe: you did not italicize the ship names.

And that new potion...ugh. The Royal Guards are as immoral as they come.

I like how more than 10 years later 9782 still hasn't been repainted.

TB3

4979211 I like to imagine every time she goes in for repaint, someone takes the time to neatly paint the Unstoppable stripes back onto the cowcatcher. She is a movie-star after all.

jz1

4979339
Indeed.

But I imagined that AWVR 777 actually exists here, but then again, if Unstoppable really was based on a true story, I doubt they'd let them use the engine from the event!
