It was painful to write. But to have a good story, you need to catch people's attention. To have a great story, you need to affect their emotions. Even if it means ripping their heart out. Sorry if I caused anypony physical pain by it. But don't worry, it'll get better....Or will it?

I know this is supposed to be serious, but whenever I see the line, Great cloud battle, I can't help but laugh.
I may seem heartless for this, but I didn't get sad over Skyla's death. There just wasn't enough character development for me to know her. You can't just plop a tragedy onto someone we don't know and expect us to be sad over it. it works with the actual characters because we have watched the show and we know who they are. But you need to be more careful with OCs.
