Outcast4Ever

I'm a writer of most genres, but I prefer sci/fi fantasy to pretty much everything else. Feel free to shoot me a PM with any comments/suggestions you may have. Also, I am a female brony.

Scootaloo has just finished her first flying lesson with her honorary sister, the fastest flyer and coolest pony in all of Equestria, Rainbow Dash. It was completely awesome, but she didn't really enjoy learning how to fly. Odd right? I mean, what pegasus wouldn't want to fly? Scootaloo can only think of one: Fluttershy. So, who else would she turn to when she needs a like-minded friend to share something with?

Perfect moment there with perfect Fluttershy characterisation. I hope that there's a scene like this in the upcoming Scootaloo episode!

Looks like there's a small error with that [url] tag -- try using the button instead, and see if that works.

Not bad. Aside from a few spelling errors the odd url placement, it was a pretty well written story.

3478507>>3478570 I fixed the url and will go back over the story with a fine-toothed comb shortly to pick out and correct the spelling errors.

3478494 Thank you.

Fluttershy the timid Pegasus, when she does speak, she speaks so wisely and powerful with her words. :yay: That is why she is my favorite pony. :pinkiehappy: Also, she is like a mother to all ponies both old and young. :pinkiehappy:

I'd imagine that the Ponyville Pegasi would either come from a mixed race household or just not be interested in flying, along with the fear aspect. I mean if you have two parents who are earthbound where are you going to learn the skills. I mean Candace has said that she can't fly so then she probably had unicorn parents. (Assuming that she ascended like Twilight.)

2 knocks with you on that deduction, friend...
1/ Cadence was originally a pegasus, the horn probably came in the same way Twilight got her wings, she ascended (probably similar to realizing that she's Equestria's version of Cupid and princesshood needs to have magic and flight). I would have to assume that unless we are using that convoluted example of the Cake Twins, I have to assume that at least one of Cadence's parents directly was a pegasus.
2/ Maybe it's not canon, but in The Crystal Empire Pt. 2, it was showing Cadence (with Spike on her back) FLYING through the air with the Crystal Heart in her aura as it was returned to its rightful place. I understand that the initial throw was by Shining Armor to get Cadence in the air, but the return was all Cadence.

As Big Mac would say "Eenope." She said at the wedding all she can do is glide, and if you looked at it she goes shooting up and glides down, only flapping one time to make it to her landing point on the fake crystal. So I'd only say maybe one knock if you can tell me the source of her origin. :ajsmug:

That was nice tale with a good message.

3487113 Actually, she never says anything regarding whether she can fly or not during the wedding. And yes, all we see her do is glide when she returns the crystal heart because if you were falling from that high you really wouldn't need to actually fly in order for you to land safely. Also, if she couldn't fly, she and Twilight wouldn't have been able to escape the caves during the Canterlot wedding if you think about it, considering their point of escape was in the ceiling.

When we add to that the fact that she was born a pegasus and obviously ascended into an alicorn in a similar fashion to the way Twilight did, you have to believe that she can fly. Plus, even if she had unicorn or earth pony parents(which is highly unlikely), the fact that she calls Princess Celestia her aunt should indicate that she spent a fair amount of time in the castle where she was taught how to use magic and quite possibly how to fly if she had never learned before.

So, in conclusion, I'd say that Cadence can fly even though we have never seen her fly in the show because we are not told otherwise.

As to where she came from, in the book Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell it is said that she was found by earth ponies as a young pegasus. So in reality, maybe she didn't have someone to teach her when she was younger, but I am sure that when Celestia adopted her as her niece she was taught how to fly as well as how to use magic.

Well then I guess I have to watch the wedding again. Only Episodes that I have only watched once.

Ok proven wrong, I am man enough to admit it. Although I say that it isn't that farfetched to say that she could be from grounded parents. I mean it is at least common enough that no one freaked out with the Cake twins.

Cute story. Added it to some more groups so some more people can see it.

I absolutely love this little story! It was very heartwarming, and for me, it was a serious treat. I'm a fan of Scootaloo, but I don't necessarily want to see her become just a full carbon-copy of Rainbow Dash as she gets older. I'm very fond of seeing her interact with the other Mane Six members as well, and Fluttershy's kind nature is infectious. The moral of this tale is a good one, and I believe you have delivered that moral well in this oneshot. The characterization of both Fluttershy and Scootaloo in this story is well done, and your dialogue and flow is excellent! Thank you so much for having written this story, because it really has brightened my day!

Well! This was a bit better than I thought it was going to be. Your writing style was reminiscent of the show itself in some ways, something I always like to see in fanfiction. Your characterization was spot on, and that's even better! your writing style still needs a bit of developement, but all I can suggest to help speed that along is keep writing (and keep reading, that helps just as much!). Your style will mature and develope on its own that way. There is one thing you could work on a little bit.

:ajsleepy: I regret to inform you that you have a bad case of... Lavender Unicorn Syndrom. Lavender Unicorn Syndrom is a term developed by Ezn to describe writers who have a bad habit of substituting names for a short description of the character. Ezn can explain why this is bad far better than I can in his amazing guide, so go check that out! It has its own section, so it should be easy to find. The general idea is, though, that if you've mentioned the character's name already you want to say it as often as possible.

That is all. I encourage you continue writing!

You commited 1 of the 7 mortal sins of writing MLP fanfiction! :fluttershysad: follow the advice above to resolve this.

This comment is brought to you courtesy of my Weekly Watch! This is my third week so I'm still working on the feature, but if you're interested in supporting me (or you just want to read the best of what I've read every week) then go ahead and join my group! I'd appreciate the tartarus out of it! :pinkiehappy:

3512157 Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to keep that in mind while I write my other fanfics.

And, as a side note, this is my most popular fic yet! :yay:
Thank you all so much for your likes and favs.

3512721 Not a problem! Just here to help people improve as best I can.

This is quite excellent, and I like how you've depicted Fluttershy here.

I'd love to see a followup, with the conversation between Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash; a Rainbow characterized as well as your Fluttershy here, plus the backstory about Rainbow being afraid of flying as well, would make for quite a story.

3592313 That seems like it would be interesting to write. I just might have to write those now.

I don't know if Fluttershy really was forced to go to flight camp, but I seem to recall her saying she had never been on terra firma.

When she's not thinking about it, Scootaloo can actually hover a few hooves above the ground. The Cutie Mark Chronicles showed her making like a torpedo in this manner. That's going to be the key to her learning to fly: not having it on her mind when she does it.

Very good pep talk with Scootaloo, Flutters...and way to go with those words od wisdom:scootangel:! One of the main reason's why you are my most favorite ponies:pinkiehappy:! Besides your love for animals and gentle loving nature:raritywink:!

Nice message and very sweet scene.
