Sometimes you feel like you've got your whole life laid out in front of you. You're a ready to see your name up in lights or sitting at a table watching ponies in line for your big book signing. However, the one chance you had to become a big hit in life is taken away by something you couldn't control. You survived the changes the world went through but now there's nowhere to go.

The last part did make me feel a bit sad.
This was very well done! You made the story feel perfectly dystopian, and you made the main character really appeal to me.
Somehow you took this story, which would be expanded (read: filler material) so far, and compressed it down to a short and sweet piece of writing. Wonderful job!
