Why does everyone feel the need to change Trixie's personality around to make her a sympathetic character?
She's intended to be haughty, to be a braggart and a show-off.
That's her character, pure & simple because that's how she was designed. She's there to act as a foil for the protagonist, not to be some depressed yet kindly mare that's just looking for a friend anywhere she can find one. 
The Trixie in this story bears no more than a superficial likeness to the character from the show, and this story would have been better served to simply use an OC rather than to twist a known character into something else just to fit her into the story.

While you do have valid points in your argument there are a few things you are forgetting. Trixie did show a not total braggart side to her at the end of the Alicorn Amulet episode. Also people love to de-vilify antagonist that could have misunderstood past. On top of the fact that entertainers have dual personalities for public and private lives, almost have to. Add the fact there are in show always redeemable backstory elements to all the villains (minus Sombra, he was just a terrible thrown-together turd): *Nightmare Moon= neglected, shunned, & possibly possessed *Queen Chrysalis= starving nation that requires a strong emotion to survive Discord= a being of Chaos in a world that values "Harmony" to the extreme. So this story is perfectly acceptable depiction of Trixie though maybe a tad too far, but that is just personal preferance.

I see no visual representations of minors under the age of 18 engaged in lewd, erotic, or sexual activity here. In fact, I see no visual representations of minors under the age of 18 here at all.
Also, people think bronies are sick pedophiles because they're fans of a TV show made for little girls. That's why. It has very little to do with stories like this.

Even if Trixie's not all bad, that doesn't mean she's a teddy bear looking for hugs. Her ego and flair, I think, are a huge part of her personality, and I don't like when that's taken away, or relegated to an 'alter ego'.
