Pinkie Pie is heralded as the most gleeful, fearless, and eccentric pony in Equestria. Who is Pinkie Pie, though? What runs through her mind when she's alone? Everyone has fears, after all, and everyone has nightmares.
And the greatest nightmares are the ones that are true.

The last minute and a half is the sh*t.

Silver out!

2663019 Thank you? I'm going to assume you loved the story, that way I feel better about myself.

Now I could be off here, but... is this about pinkie asking twilight marriage?

2663149 That wasn't what I had in mind, but hey, that's reader-response criticism for you.
My intent was to show that one of Pinkie's greatest fears is if her friends hate her. Without her friends, she's unable to do her super-special talent, which is to make others happy. To me, that's why Pinkie is afraid Twilight hates her.

Very interesting I get that now, I guess it's pretty obvious what I've been reading :raritywink:.

2663182 It won't show the thing. I must know what it's linking to!
And as for "read more," this story's done, but in a few days I'll have another up.

It's actually linking to a seal of approval but I guess it seems a different way than intended.:facehoof:

2663209 This story's about finding self-worth, but I feel so good getting a seal of approval, even if I can't see it.

Sorry, didn't mean to be disrespectful.

2663541 Disrespectful? :rainbowlaugh:
Good sir/madam, I was overjoyed that you found it interesting.

I can get the idea that this is about Pinkie's biggest fear, and you do express that fear very well in the dream world. The dream sequence really felt like an anxiety dream with the way it moved from one scene to the next.

One thing I don't fully like about the story is that Pinkie was a little out of character at the end. Pinkie never struck me as the kind of pony who would go to others when she's feeling scared. She often hides her insecurities and fears with jokes and laughter because burdening others with your fears makes them sad, and Pinkie never wants anyone to sad. In my mind, Pinkie would have made up some sort of excuse, maybe a midnight cupcake party (or something along those lines), to spend time with one of her friends for comfort, but I doubt that she would let anypony know that she was feeling insecure (unless it was really really bad, and far beyond her ability to handle it). I can believe that this kind of dream is one of the absolutely worst kind of nightmares she would have because her sense of self is based off of making ponies happy and being friends with everyone, but we learn in the very first episode that Pinkie laughs her fears away, which I have no doubt she would have done here.

But overall this was a pretty good story. I loved the images you create. I honestly was worried that I was ending up in a Cupcakes clone or a ponified version of some horror story like Silent Hill or a Nightmare on Elm Street, which I am so glad that you went in the direction you did. I was a little apprehensive that this was a dream story as well, but you gave it a nice dream like feel without sacrificing story.

2663793 I agree (partly). In the show she's frequently presented as the type that never wants to burden her friends with her problems. And yes, in the very first episode she does laugh away her fears.
However, I think the part of her that's able to laugh away her fears is only able to do so because she has her friends. Her happiness (to me) stems from her ability to make others happy, but if she's unable to make others happy, she herself feels depressed. Party of One is the only time we see the depressed side of her, so we don't know much about her depressed side. I saw a girl who was scared and lonely, so while writing the ending I asked what a scared and lonely person would do, and the first thing I thought of was to seek comfort in others.
She's looking to her friends for comfort and guidance, but when she asks "the question" to herself, she realizes she has the answer. And that's when "the mare" is given an identity.
Ugh, this response was way longer than I thought it would be. Still, I love your comment. Please, if you have any others issues with the story, I'd love to hear them. With every piece of criticism I get, I learn how to improve and write better stories. Thank you.

This story was very good all the way until the end. However I was expecting there to be a very emotional ending between Pinkie and Twilight, but it never happened. Over all this is an amazing story, and it without a doubt deserves my favourites list, but I'm very disappointed with this ending. It feels very incomplete. I thought it was going to end with Pinkie asking if Twilight still cared about her, and with her answer, she throws her hooves around her. That would have literally made this a perfect story for me.

Alrighty ho, I'm just going to repeat what everyone else is saying, in the hopes that people will think I have at least some clue to what is going on.
