As a filly living in Canterlot Castle, Twilight Sparkle either wakes up from a scary nightmare, as well as missing her family, or a thunderstorm, Princess Celestia comforts her. Just because she was her mentor didn't mean she couldn't offer a motherly touch.

Spoilers for Season 7, Episode 10: "A Royal Problem," and a certain new character called "Daybreaker". Tagged for Celestia since her body is technically in the story, lol. The first few paragraphs are in the form of a diary entry by Princess Luna, then it gets into the action after that. The deviations from the regular MLP 'verse will be obvious with a good King Sombra having ruled the Crystal Empire and its bat ponies (yes, crystal bat ponies!) and yes, this is Lunbra, rejoice, ye fans of the pairing of night and shadows ;)

In the episode "A Canterlot Wedding", we see everyone treat Twilight Sparkle rather shabbily, and when she's proven to be right, no one apologizes to her - not even Princess Celestia. How might this have affected Twilight?

Twilight is called in by Cadance to translate some old books in the Crystal Empire's library. To Twilight's chagrin, Cadance takes the opportunity to try and put her together with Flash Sentry. Twilight is left with no choice but to confront her feelings towards the guardspony.
