It's a bygone story forgotten by most of the ponies, lost in the dense fog of history. But there was a time that Equestria was not a paradise of friendship and harmony. A time when our characters struggled for an uncertain future in the mire of reality. It was an epoch of upheaval, when a prisoner can be royalty, and a princess can be a scourge.

Okay, let's get this out of the way. My name is Peek, and I'm a changeling.

So, ponies arent that bad. Who knew? Well, the thing is that I've been tasked with infiltrating Princess Twilight's social circle, and somehow turn the Elements of Harmony against eachother. Should be simple, I mean, I've done things like this a hundred times before.

But, guess what, these ponies are friendly! And I hate to say it, but I think I've taken a liking to these fluffy fleshbags. They're my friends, and I don't want to hurt my friends.

But one thing that's been on my mind lately, I can't keep this up. I can't keep lying to my friends. But how would they react? I mean, they haven't had the best experience with my kind. I can only hope they can be as accepting as they are with actual ponies. But on the other hoof, if I don't follow through on the mission, I'll be kicked out of the hive. I'll be all alone.

I guess I'll have to choose...

Discord messed with their mailboxes when he turned Ponyville into the chaos capital of the world and never fixed them, so the six ponies of the Ponyville Chess Club have to meet every day to exchange mail with each other. This has turned out to be a good thing for everypony involved.

A two chapter (planned anyway) story where nothing much happens except conversation. A brief chess game may show up as a brief detail in chapter two.

When Equestria is under attack by their griffon neighbors, one mare, along with a group of highly skilled fliers, will stop at nothing to reclaim their beloved country. Witness the war through the eyes of a young colt in occupied Canterlot, a desperate mother in search of her missing filly, and a cyan rainbow maned pegasus. The Tree of Harmony, a sophisticated magitech intelligence built long ago during the glory days of the Crystal Empire, has recently been awoken from her beauty sleep again by anomalous activity. Much to the surprise of her leaf-like sensory arrays, the disturbance turns out to be Princess Celestia, who's finally figured out how to converse with Harmony directly in hopes of learning more about her.

When the Princess strikes up a conversation, she soon discovers that one of Equestria's greatest defense mechanisms is actually a rather interesting individual, and she's not been alone in the cave for all these years.

Twilight was supposed to go on a personal journey to find herself. Instead, something goes wrong and she has to find a way back to the world she knows.

It has been 1000 years since Luna returned from the Moon and Twilight Sparkle was anointed 'Princess of Friendship' and in those 1000 years, many things have changed. The Mane 6s lives have come and gone, and two of the kingdoms of Equestria have fallen to the land's many foes. It is an age of Darkness to contrast the previous era of Friendship.

Will Luna be able to turn things around with help from her sister? or will she find herself pitted against an enemy she would never have guessed..?
