It's been a month since the invasion of Canterlot, and the changeling forces are scattered and lost throughout Equestria. Labeled as little more than scum, staying in the nation is essentially impossible for them. Everypony is on high alert, and many of them have been hunted down and banished.

Thorax and Chitin are two young rank-and-file drones. Running from the Royal Guard in the Everfree and searching for their comrades, they never thought they'd get tied up with a legendary infiltrator.

Chrysalis realizes she will need all the backup they can get. First, they'll need to regroup their scattered ranks. Secondly, she needs to play every card in her hand. This time, she will not be denied.

Drakkar leads a caravan to the Gryphon Kingdom of the North. The Annual pankration tournament is about to start, and every gryphon, even King Goliath himself, is looking forward to it. However, the guise of entertainment hides horrors that Fimbulvetrians weren't aware of.

The capital is burning. Changelings swarm through the streets. The Princess has been incapacitated, and the Royal Guard is in full retreat. However, not every member of the Guard was taken out in the first few minutes of battle. It is said that discretion is the better part of valor, and three stallions who escaped the initial attack take this saying to heart. They don't plan on saving the day, but they certainly plan on surviving it.

After drawing a blank, the three go see if the local egghead Twilight can help. Said egghead tells them the story of a great war that happened before Celestia's reign, a war that could have completely changed the face of Equestria entirely. This is the story of the Horsican wars.

Twilight and Rainbow Dash both clash on the bloody battlefield of the Everfree Forest. This battle will be the defining point of the 2ed Equestrian civil war. Will the New Lunar Republic win? Or will the Solar Empire crush the rebellion? And during this battle can Twilight and Rainbow really do the unthinkable: To kill the one you love.
