[First Person] [Alternating Perspectives]

During a long and boring night, devoid of any ponies seeking to petition the Night Court, Lyra Heartstrings asks Luna a question. “Why did you become Nightmare Moon?” Luna answers her question, starting from the very beginning, recounting her long life of rejection, failure to achieve her goals, and marginalization. For the first time, someone besides Celestia gets to know the full story of Nightmare Moon.

No storyline beyond that of The Bridesmaids, Horseshoes, Dinner at Ravenloft, The Queen is Dead, All Hail the Queen, and Lyra-7% happens or will happen in this timeline. Many years after the changeling attack on Canterlot, in a land far from Equestria, Chrysalis Swarm returned to it’s former strength. The swarm of vicious bandits cut a swath across the land with twice the cruelty of the time before their defeat. Countless cities, towns, and even other changeling hives fell to their cruelty and lust for power.

Amongst them was the Diamond Hive, a peaceful people of ancient and storied past. The only survivor of her people’s slaughter is a young changeling scout named Jade. With nothing save a satchel of emotion-charged stones, her mother’s sword, and a map in the form of a riddle, Jade must now journey to the one place Chrysalis's was unable to terrorize, Equestria.

The Kingdom of Equestria, a place thought to be nothing more than myth. A place where the streets are made from gold, for the very sun and moon make it their home. Only there can safety be assured, and only there can a changeling find enough love to enter her final stage of development, become a queen, and ensure her people survive once more.

In the year 2199, artificial intelligence has advanced to the point where it is no longer practical to have human pilots. This puts Lyra Heartstrings into a forced retirement. Or rather, it puts Lyra from Earth number 7 into retirement. A Lyra born in the extremely distant past before Equestria as human. Lyra 7, an anomaly of the multiverse.

This Lyra is given the chance to pursue the life of adventure she always wanted when her ‘forced retirement moping’ is interrupted by the arrival of an experimental piece of technoarcana capable of opening portals into other dimensions. Unfortunately for Lyra 7, it’s broken, and her tinkering can’t totally fix it. Unable to set her own destination, or fully charge the device and thus unable make more than one portal per charge. Lyra can only wander from universe to random universe in search of the pony (and the proper version of that pony) who made the Vortex Manipulator in order to find her way back home.

All of my stories are canon to this, as this story happens ‘episodically’ in multiple Equestrias. It’s a dimension hopping story. However, this is being done in the more serious tone of Beta, the more “serious” timeline.

[Third Person] Alternating Perspectives [Equisverse Era 2]
Forty Two years after the return of Princess Luna, and twenty five years after the Elements of Harmony were broken, Equestria has entered a new age. The Bearers were forced to adapt, to change, and discover new ways to continue to keep Equestria safe. Thanks to the tools, weapons, and spells the Bearers have come to use over the years, Equestria, once famous for rejecting the majority of the world’s technological advances in favor of magic, has come to embrace the mechanical and the arcane in equal measure.

These changes echoed across Equestria, and traditions began to change as the average pony sought to do their part. Many by taking up arms to protect Equestria themselves as adventurers, wandering heroes, or vigilantes. Being a hero is no longer something a lucky (or unfortunate) few have to do on occasion. It’s a job. One which pays well. One which is extremely dangerous. One which might mean you only have to work one day a month. Or that you only go to work once, if you lucky (or very unlucky).

It’s a job that Orange Sherbert wants. But not for the money. Her grandparents did it before the new age dawned, as did her parents, aunts, uncles, their friends, and even acquaintances. Being a hero is her family’s business, but Sherbert is no hero.

She’s young, inexperienced, unskilled, and immature. But she knows this. She knows it and wants to become someone she feels is worthy of her family’s legacy. Someone who can save any day which needs saving. Someone who can right wrongs, and to destroy that which should not be.

To accomplish her goal, Orange Sherbet has chosen to travel to the country of Neighpone and train in the art of ninjitsu. To acquire skills, discipline, and personal growth all at once. But just what will she have to endure to achieve her goals after entering the ancient doors of Kōmoriakademī, Bat’s Academy.

[Third Person] Alternating Perspectives [Equisverse Era 1]
 
(This is a summary/refresher/primer of my AU’s first set of stories. It’s an excellent place for people to jump onto the series, and also contains new information for old readers. Sherbert and her life will also feature in the next story.)

Sherbert von Ponyville, the daughter of Scootaloo and Azur Lily, has never been the best student. She has never been popular, or well liked, or even into sports or other school activities. Outside her family, Sherbert has nopony she would call her friend. Peers yes, acquaintances certainly, but no real friends. She’d rather be out freerunning and cloud walking than chatting with others her own age.

Sherbert isn’t happy with the lack of real friends in her life. She has decided to fix that. She’s got a plan to remake herself into somepony amazing so she can befriend the coolest ponies she knows of. To get started she must live in Neighpone for a few years.

To get to live in Neighpone, she must join the Equestrian-Neighponese Exchange Program. To Join the Program, she must have at least a 3.2 GPA. To get that 3.2, she needs to write the greatest history report of all time!

Unfortunately, Uncle Sky refused to let her borrow a time machine so she has to do it the boring way.

As fate would have it, Lyra, Bon-bon, Vinyl, and Octavia each have their own equally dark secrets. Ones they hide as deeply as Meep hid her real identity. Time has a way of bringing everything to light. This time, it's an invitation to dinner.

Thirty years ago, Princess Luna transported all of Ponyville into the Dream Realm to protect the city from invading daemons. Unfortunately she simply traded one disaster for another as the town became a haven for Nightmares, living dreams seeking but one thing; To find the person who dreamed them into existence, and make themselves real.

As a knight in Luna's service, Lyra fought to protect everypony in town, but at a great cost. Her worst nightmare found her, and Lyra didn't escape its clutches. The strange magic at the Nightmare's disposal warped reality itself, making the impossible conditions of Lyra's nightmare into reality itself.

After decades of exploration, archeology, study, and practice, Lyra has finally had a breakthrough. A specific arcane ritual that can forge a crystal made of the same magic wielded by Nightmares, one which may let her break the curse.

After becoming famous for his medical skills at the the Second Badlands Battle, Azur (better known as Lily) is determined to establish a new life for herself in Equestria. Unfortunately, the young unicorn has no idea what to do with their newly found freedom. Having lived under the crushing heel of abusive parents and extremely strict scholastic standards, the freedom to choose what to do and when to do it is something entirely new for Lily.

Despite Lily’s friends living in Ponyville, she would rather find her own place. A simple place she can set up a business as a proper Biomancer, serving medical, cosmetic, and utilitarian needs, all the while acquiring the one thing she never had but always wanted. A loving family.

She'll get that and more, but unfortunately for her, she chose to get those things in the Weirdness Magnet that is Ponyville.
