Queen Chrysalis is a queen no more. Her children are dead, her body is broken, and the love that Shining Armor and Cadence hit her with has sent her far, far away from Equestria, far from the world that she knew.

Now she lives on the fringes of human society, taking love where she can, not sure why her will to live hasn't been extinguished, wishing for forgiveness for failing her poor children.

Then the dreams begin, dreams of a vast, sprawling necropolis, a place where the monsters live, a place called....Midian.

So, driven by guilt and by hunger, she heads off, North of Athabasca, East of Peace River, near Shere Neck, North of Dwyer, to Midian.

There she is welcomed by the Nightbreed, a group of monsters who shun the human world and live in peace.

Chrysalis believes that she may have found a new home. But her arrival has caused some stirrings, and an old foe of hers has awakened and joined forces with a human madman.

Now Chrysalis will have to confront the ghosts of her past to protect her new family, and her journey will take her from Midian back to Equestria as a fallen king and a serial killer hunt her and her friends down.

But her traumatic death and the time that she's had to truly think about her actions are weighing on her spirit, dragging her down into despair.
