Chapter 1- My Little Birdy
"S...Sp...Spike.....W..What is that?"
"I..I don't know!...I think It's some sort of bird, whatever it is...It isn't attacking us."
Spike and Shy Heart slowly crept towards it, cautiously. Shy Heart broke the silence,
"Hey there little guy, I'm Shy Heart, what's yours?"
"....Ridley." The creature said in a gruff, yet seemingly light tone.
"Ridley? That's an odd name, mind if I call you 'Birdy'?" Shy asked, almost sounding more like a command then a request.
"Shy? Can we trust this little guy? He doesn't look like anything I've seen in my research about avians.." Spike questioned, looking rather worried, considering that this was a new species, obviously.
"Yeah, my magic tells me that he has no malice towards us, in-fact, he seems almost benevolent!...I wonder....is it possible, that his species might be just as intelligent?"Shy enthusiastically suggested, but was quickly interrupted by Ridley.
"The rest of my kind are very evil things. I was sent here because I was too kind, Speaking of which, where am I?"
The two were taken aback by the bluntness of what the creature just said, but decided against saying anything about it.
"You're in..Equestria, on planet Equis. Where...are you from?" Spike sputtered, not sure whether or not they could trust this fellow, considering how he told them his kind is evil, and all that jazz.
"Spike, we have time for that later.. don't you think we should tell Princess Twilight about this? I'm sure she could find something about him in the Castle library." Shy , sounding almost as nervous as Spike is.
"You're right...that would probably be the best thing to do, Mo- er...Twilight should know what he is." Spike muttered quietly, being sure Shy Heart didn't hear the last part.
The three then set off, but not before Shy Heart levitated Ridley onto his back, and securing him to a saddle. After making sure the hold was secure, Shy Heart began casting a teleportation spell that would take them to the front of the castle library, where Twilight was. sure enough, studying on her free time as a princess. As soon as they appeared, Twilight slammed her book shut,(Not before marking her page first...) and ran over to greet them, but they also noticed that a navy-blue pegasus was with her as well.

"Boys! I'm so glad to see you both! You haven't visited in SO long!" Twilight said with glee and a giant bear-hug.(Or would that be a horse hug?)"Oh, I almost forgot, Spike...you remember Thunderblur right? He's come to stay at the castle for a few days,I though maybe you could---" She was cut off by Spike before she could finish.
"Twilight, there's more important things right now...look." Spike pointed towards the bag on Shy Heart's back, which contained a very fuzzy, white creature.
"Spike...what is that thing! It looks like a bird...but it sort of looks like a dragon, too!" Twilight was astounded by this creature, who seemed to belong to three different animal types.Twilight rushed over to the nearest bestiary, looking under Birds first, then dragons, and finally to Draconequus."Huh?! I can't find anything, ANYWHERE!" She said, panting at the fact that she could not even find the slightest bit of information about the white fuzzball.
"If it's any help,my scientific name for my species is Ridlenious Xenophon...Ridlen is what we're called from where I came from." Ridley explained in an extremely scientific manner, causing everypony's jaw to hang at the sheer intelligence of the creature.
"Oh wow! I didn't know you could talk!" Twilight exclaimed, giddily jumping up and down at the fact that a sentient creature that could speak Equine is here, and it's undiscovered!"Say, Ridley, was it? Where is it that you're from? Spike tells me that you came down in a capsule."
"I don't have a home planet, I was born on a space station, it's in the 4th space intersection in the Horse-Head nebula: 2nd quadrant. I wouldn't go there If I were you..the people there...aren't exactly friendly per-say..."
"Is that why you were sent here?" The mare asked, sounding rather somber from hearing that this poor little guy doesn't have a home.
"Yeah, they said I was too kind, something that is not accepted among my people." Ridley said, as a slow frown started to develop on his small beak, ears drooping slightly.
"Oh, you poor thing! OH, I know! How about I see if I can get Princess Celestia to get you a citizen's pass! That way you can live in Ponyville! Spike, do you think you can take him in?" Twilight ecstatically asked, knowing the answer before he even said it.
"Yeah... I guess so. Sweetie Belle probably will adore the little guy."

Meanwhile, near the B.O.T.T.L.E ship crash site.
"Adam,where did the survivor land?"
"It was on a course for Equis, a planet who's primary species are various Equine creatures. It seems like they are sentient, and are rather peaceful."
"Good, set course for Equis."
"Yes, lady."

Maybe you could go into past events, as well as maybe going further into our new Ridley's character. I'd like to see that.

Yeah, that'd be a good idea, but for now, he's a baby, so he does not talk much as a character, at least, until he ages a bit.
2442409 I can understand that, it's a part of the story. But the jump after canon to Spike
with Sweetie 
and the other characters 
would probably be something to explain, it's a little jarring and is honestly something of a pet peeve of mine. 
Try and justify these events and create a good base for the current characters (and future characters) to sit on, it's a lot easier to read, even if it's only a half-assed effort. 
But I like your concept and want to see it develop more. good luck.

Ah, the Marriage part could be explained a bit..maybe I could post that as an extra, or something... and the OC's will eventually explain themselves, and so-forth. Question for you: Should Samus be a temporary villian, or should she try and befriend the "Nice Ridley" for Galactic Federation use?

Just so you know besides genetic memory Ridley's aggressive persona came to be because of those mentally able to dominate and use him (I.E. Mother Brain, M.B. and some minor others [telepathic domination has got to be a horrible thing to go through hope there isn't any inhabitants on Terra and near Equestria that could do that to him]). This is before I read the story I will give another 10 Cents worth or more on how I viewed it.

Yeah, I was going to have something like that occur later in the story (The influence thing.) It's just I'm not sure which villain to use for the situation. (Probably the Space Pirates or something.)
Based on what I have read it seems pretty good but hold off on the molting to the next stage yet (Based on Wiki source he has to devour stronger creatures and gain their genetic code which enables him to molt/evolve as it were [Another note is that in the Metroid series it never stated when his evolution ends so you can take it further then where the games have been able to just don't make him too gigantic]). Oh and if you need any OCs I have a good deal of options in my blog you can skim through (Just let me know which ones you use). I will like and fav to see how this develops oh and make sure to look up the manga data on him it could give further information on him to use (I.E. intelligence level, skills, and ect during each form [Make it almost sound like he is a Pokemon or something]).

Funny thing is the Space Pirates were also being controlled telepathically as will (though they weren't human Space Pirates so you could change it up to a different standard). Changelings are thought to have a telepathic capabilities or somewhat of a Hive Mind (Could miss with him to some degree but then again the genetic memory could also allow him to keep enough control of himself [then again you also got to think of his varying reactions to magic and how the everflowing magic of this world could affect him which could alter his evolutionary pattern as will]).

Based on Metroid Other M he ate the boss monster Samus killed as shown in the game up until he first molted and attacked her. It seems to play off the stronger the creature is to him the more affective it is to altering him (Start with Fruit/Vegetation and bugs [let him retain his darker secrets to himself even if he allies with the ponies be it out of Loneliness or greater need of survival]). While writing down the line think how strongly and effectively the Poison Joke will do to him (it plays to basis that anyone or anything not of their world and not properly protected would come into contact with it). Oh and if he comes across something already dead and no sentient creature is watching he could take his fill of it (though it has to be edible I don't think Timber Wolves would be acceptable but a Manticore, Cockatrice, or Hydra Corpse could do).

Ah, I forgot about that part... I guess I will have Ridley stick to a pony diet at first, and maybe when Celestia examines him, she'll tell everypony about his diet. That, or instincts kick in.

Will you never did say whether he has grown fangs yet or not so even then he can surprise her (that is if he can avoid her or Luna from reading his mind). Tracking him is going to be quite the problem for Samus should the pod be dismantled and even then just locating him afterwords (Technology is great but if something threatening comes to close to that side of the planet one of the deitic entities could damage it or misdirect it [You got the Alicorns, Discord, and thanks to open plot development so many more could be made to fit the varying areas on Terra so probes beware]). Since we are in Canterlot there is the Dungeon (not to mention the Sewer System and extremely dark alleys to name a few less crossed areas) he can sneak off to maybe go down into the darkest depth and consume things in the dark.
Oh and I forgot the concept of Deitic impression which could majorly alter his personality (based on which one either dominates him or subverts him to their side).

As of next chapter, Ridley should have decently formed fangs, therefore allowing him to do some basic hunting and gathering with help from Spike. The Ridley in Other M ate lots'o'bugs, giving him an Exoskeleton, and a lighter build. I think this Ridley will feast on more intelligent creatures, ( Manticores, rats, etc.) and give him a higher IQ, and likely superior strength from a Manticore. Maybe since his memory is genetic, he will likely remember what he ate in his previous life(lives).
Now knowing Ridley and the need for survival (He would anticipate someone especially with the fact that it is always the same someone in every case coming to kill him). Making himself a hero to Equestria would help ensure his survival as will as make friends with powerful characters. Now here are some ideas at making him a hero (this all varies based on what form stage he is in):
1. Slavery (Most stories and even the show had to deal with Diamond Dogs kidnapping individuals to dig stones though it doesn't always have to be the Diamond Dogs that are doing the Slavery concept in that area).
2. War (This is considered what races are against the Equestrian Country be it the Changelings [that is if the love principle hasn't been taken care of], Diamond Dogs, Rogue Dragons, Monsters of Tartarus [the major prison talked sidely in the show and found in the MLP Wiki] escaping and running havoc/mayhem, or Forgotten Creatures of the world waking up and wanting to regain power).
3. Starting Small (This is used in reference of building himself up kinda like how video games do in RPG [I.E. finding lost things, helping those who can't help themselves, and more importantly improving their technological know how in varying things]).
