Brony 2-Ma-Ro

At the start of S2. I still haven't forgiven him :P

Ever wonder if your story can really go anywhere? Ever wish it would just finish itself?
Do you ever hope that you might get the slightest word of encouragement?
Do you have writer's block?

Inspired by true events (i.e, a sleepy delusion or two),a collection of short stories of coping with the drawbacks of being a...sub-par fan-fiction writer, working his way to improve my work.
.
While yes, I do technically appear in here, I am anything but original. Hence, no OC tag.

Well, this is going to be interesting. I have writer's block on a few stories.:raritydespair:

This... was awesome. My first comment was before I read this, and this is after. It's just... awesome. Favorited.

Hilarity aside, there's a kernel of truth here. There's always a danger of absorbing the "universe" of other fanfictions into your own knowledge base, which makes what is admittedly already a derivative venture even more so. (Double derivative? Can that be a thing?) In some cases this can be good- other stories can be excellent inspiration- but when it starts altering your portrayal of canon characters or events, then it can be problematic. And yes, one of the best ways to avoid that is to reacquaint yourself with the base material once in a while. Think of it as a refresher course! :twilightblush:

I have the sudden urge to look at a camera and try to break the fourth wall :pinkiehappy:

Literary gold!

You're exactly right, of course - writing fanfiction has the added advantage of not basing something entirely off your own imagination, but on the universe another person has come up with.
All you have to do is go back to the source, and you're bound to find something you can work with somehow.

I like you :trollestia:

Quite the interesting dream you had there, man! This was great, it was like a banquet for thought (like food for thought, but a lot more? get it? :duck:).

It's good to see someone just write what they want and are feeling, even if it comes out as a sappy, 4th wall breaking, wacky story. The level of honesty you portrayed in this story made a big impact on me as a reader (and hopefully other readers too). It's easy to fall into that trap of trying to live up to other people's achievements. It's easier mentally for us to do that than to forge our own path and achievements, even though that's what we should really be doing. :facehoof:

Be true to yourself. :twilightsheepish:

Thanks for writing this, I found it really enjoyable!

P.S. I wish I would have a waking dream about ponies. . . . That'd be a life-changing experience! :fluttercry:

I see what this story is trying to say, and it's right. One of the things I worry about the most when writing is doing the characters right. Like, " what would Twilight do in this situation", or "what would Fluttershy say if this happened". Sometimes, it can be really confusing, because these characters have been protrayed in so many ways so many times, you tend to forget. That's why it almost always helps to go back to the source matrial.

130450 I like what you said there.

I like him too. Let's all be friends! :yay: <(~yay~)

130459Yay!:yay: Friendship is magic!:pinkiehappy:

I almost wished this would happen to me, then I would have been sad when they left.

No! Take me with you to Equestria!

O_o

I havn't been sleeping much either. :derpytongue2:

...Did my story just get referenced in another fanfiction? :rainbowderp:

Anyways, this was great. I know the feeling of getting canon mixed up with fanon. I've never had ponies appear and start speaking to me, but... [stares at shelf of pony toys suspiciously]

I think that the show gives us writers a great place to start, and we should always try to channel that feeling into whatever we turn it into with our fanfics. I like stories that have the characters acting believably in response to whatever situation the author chucks them into. Though, of course, you're free to cross over with as many things as you want if that is what you so desire.

I suppose now would be a good point to mention which fanfics I might have referenced. Not all of them are on FIM, but they shouldn't be that hard to find.
Anthropology, by JasonTheHuman
It takes a Village, by Determamfidd
Then of course, FlutterMac fanon, of course.
If I missed anyone, then I apologize, but if I put anything in that matches your work, feel free to assume that I'm referencing it
Not taking credit, just referencing.
Thank you all four your kind support and comments. And despite what the lesson of this fanfic might be, it simply wouldn't have been possible without so many great writers out there.
Again, Thank You.

Wow, big bro. Didn't expect it to be this popular, didya?

How true. Unless I'm mistaken you were pretty surprised as well :derpytongue2:
Thx.

Wow...this was awesome. :pinkiehappy: Five stars and favourited. That's all I can really say.
