It's unrealistic because metal is much more stronger/resistant than the tissues found in ponies' bodies. Even tendons.

I didn't see much romance in the way of this story but it had a lot of darkness in. The story is decent and I enjoy it. The dark tone set the mood for me.
Overall: A nice piece of dark reading when you are in the mood for it.
