Ah, you have indeed brought it to FIMFiction!

Oh, huh, they have upvote buttons at the bottoms of chapters now?
...I wonder how long those have been there without me noticing?

">opinions"
What does the ">" mean?

I'm glad to see this story here finally, it was one of my favorites of yours that was unpublished.

8816102

What does the ">" mean?

I'm not sure I can do justice describing it in words.

8816469
Thanks! And maybe now that I'm not obsessing about straining my meager talents to draw my own cover art, I can actually write more! Best is yet to come. :yay:

8818031
...Uh. Huh.
...I think I may actually understand it less now, I'm afraid.

Nick sounds like a cool guy. Can be a troll sometimes.

8833658
He can, indeed. He's got a good heart though.

To be honest, this chapter comes out of fucking nowhere and makes no sense. Sudden romance grom nowhere, followed by betrayal.

8836076
Regarding the sudden romance out of nowhere, consider that it might indeed make sense from the point of view of the magical being planning to use and betray him, and that she might furthermore have some way of bringing it about.

8836076
It was a crazy week!

8836170
He did kind of fall head over heels for her. Wasn't hard to get him to put out! I mean, Twilight Motherfunning Sparkle's making out with you on the couch. I think you could understand how some guys would be putty in her hooves?

8836231
Hmm, yeah, good point, put like that, there might not even have needed to be any more than mundane influence.

.....what? He goes from concerned friend to just wanting to persuade his "best friend" to submit to his sexual fantasies? I seriously hope there is some sense to be made of all this soon, because so far im not impressed.

8857314

I wish I could give you more reassurance that Nick has an ulterior motive behind ploughing Meadowsweet into the bed, that coming chapters would reveal to be purely selfless, altruistic and benevolent. Honestly, Nick can be kind of a dick sometimes. But hey, at least she figured out how to get up onto the bed!

Who is the pony in the cover art? Besides Twilight, I mean.

8921508
It's Meadowsweet. As good as I could draw her, at least.

Is Meadows kinda stupid? I mean she was tortured and left for dead in a dark room, and she never tried to get out or fight back when she's dieing. I mean she was afraid of getting shot I guess, but not eating and more importantly not drinking is a death sentence anyway? So what happen to her instinct to live?

8955854

I know, right? :rainbowkiss:

8955873

Well... starvation and delirium probably had something to do with it. And she did get out, technically, even if she was stumped after that. Honestly one of her flaws I think is that Meadowsweet is more concerned with right and wrong than her own wellbeing. She lived most of her life feeling pretty worthless, after all, like a butler for an empty house.

But yes, yes she's kinda stupid.

This is always a mindscrew for me "i-is this real? Am I really being rescued? I know I started hallucinating in the cell so how do I know I escaped? I'm still in that cell aren't I? Trapped and crazy, slowly dying. nononon." That'd be my thought process the entire time

8958134

Once you've lost track of what's real and what's not... well, you're a colorful sentient pony, who can squeeze through a 1 inch slit, your friend is a magical unicorn, and you just got rescued by magical pony commandos. The hallucinations were more plausible than this!

Yeah, Meadowsweet's in a bit of a delicate place at this point. How well she recovers will say a lot about the strength of her will.

Anyhoof, love it and I can't wait for more! Much enthusiasm

Nice to see that more people are enjoying this. :)

8958485
Well... maybe. :twilightsheepish:

8958489
:pinkiehappy: And that makes me want to write it more!

8958594
Indeed! It's not the most pandering story, so it won't get tons of people liking it, but if there are a few people who really like it, that would be absolutely wonderful.

Alright, this entertains me, so far you entered a really weird territory with twilight being a conversion agent for clestia it certainly fulfills celestia's character to send twilight as her expeditionary force, and all that added to the mind controlled clop is great

I'm not sure the title actually fits the direction of the story at this point, but that's not very relevant.

8968779

I always liked the theme of Celestia as master manipulator. She did maintain an unbroken peace for a thousand years after all, and anything she wanted to vanish into myth and legend vanished into myth and legend. It's a really fun concept, even if not the most flattering interpretation of her as a character. I think my favorite is where she's well meaning but a little impetuous, so keeps backing herself into a corner, despite everyone's expectation that she's a master manipulator. But the stories where she does take charge and demonstrates brilliant and devious tactics are pretty amazing too.

Also glad it entertains you! Hope you like where I'm going with this.

8968924

I have no idea what you are talking about. Meadowsweet is the very picture of graceful and majestic! :rainbowlaugh:

"How do they not have a huge overpopulation problem?" he asks. I kind of wondered that myself. This isn't the same kind of ratio that was seen in Bloom Filter. This is much more extreme. You would think since it is more even in reality our own numbers would not have exploded the way they did, but that did not stop us. Is there any particular reason Sunny wants eleven mares for each stallion?

8974887

Ironically, it is exactly the same ratio as in Bloom Filter. Random data's full of clustering, I guess!

If there is any particular reason, I'm afraid it won't be made clear until the winter comes again.

8974998
In any case, there was a practical reason for it there, and they were but illusions failing, and making things what they really are. This, I suspect is much more random, and you cannot predict, let alone accurately what's going to happen, as there wouldn't be any inherent traits to select like there is there.

Once again, it sounds like one in twelve rather than quarter, and nothing in it actually says so. This is far from the first. I should accept this as a quirk, as there's no denying it.

I'm still wondering how our numbers exploded in reality when having it near half and half should have prevented that. If male births have any benefits, it's the fact they should in theory prevent unneeded population explosions. How is it possible they don't fix the overpopulation problem?

8975019

This, I suspect is much more random, and you cannot predict, let alone accurately what's going to happen

Well, you're not wrong.

Once again, it sounds like one in twelve rather than quarter, and nothing in it actually says so.

The story doesn't say. I was just commenting on a little behind-the-scenes spoiler. I'm actually using the same program to pick a gender.

I'm still wondering how our numbers exploded in reality

Women had more than two kids. If every human female has more than 2 kids on average, the population grows... factorially. Gender ratio doesn't matter so much as birth-per-adult.

8975032
Well, Then if that's the case, no tweaking of gender ratios will ever help curb excessive, needless population explosions, which was the idea the Chinese tried to execute. I guess large, ever increasing numbers are inevitable no matter what you do. Frankly, I'd love that crisis to be global. It would allow all ecosystems to return to normal in our absence.

This honestly sounds like that other tale I mentioned several times, except this one isn't a virus. If it were, his sister would have had it well over a month ago, and she didn't. And there would be no need for hiding, nor would they have been left in cells, as there would be far too many to lock up. It sounds to me she was specifically looking for bronies, and got exactly what she was looking for, a stark contrast to that other tale where it wasn't anyone especial, only whoever was in the high occupancy buildings by chance, and with full intent to clean up the mess later.

The explanation that it was all being told through AB's perspective made little sense when that bias is gone halfway through, and a more objective stance is made. In fact, unless I am very much mistaken, it was outright stated to be one in six, which is still greater a difference than what you said.

The hypocrisy and inherent lack of integrity with this site sure is powerful, ain't it? I actually fantasized about tearing it down and putting something better up afterwards. But I don't think that'll happen.

I'd slit her throat without a thought. Expert actress needs to be at the end of a rope, and strangled rather than suffer a snapped neck. Then carve it up and feed it to the carnivorous populace. Wiping out sapience, if that be the plan isn't bad, but there's no need to be cruel while doing it.

I wonder if human extinction would adversely affect planet earth's climate and ecosystem. Would the extinction of the human race end all other life on earth if it happened for real? I humanity something that is an inherent necessity? I personally don't think so. I do think if man went away forever, life on earth would continue business as usual. The only serious adversity would be to domestic livestock, which would have to be taken with us, or suffer a slower demise. There has been life here without men for thousands, millions, if not billions of years. The lack of men would not harm other lives.

I do think this above paragraph, which has merit in its logic in real life, may very well be going through Twilight's head. She knows about our sentimental attachment to men, and the fact that beyond having it imprinted at a young age beyond it simply being the norm, means nothing to all other life on earth, save cattle, which we never should have had in the first place.

Another sufficiently intelligent from of life would not be entirely unwelcome. And besides, if she screwed up, and inadvertently caused the inevitable extinction of all sapient life, it wouldn't be the end of the world, especially if we all went sterile and died off from old age. Objectively speaking, there was nothing but bacteria in the first place, single celled organisms that reproduced via meiosis. And later fungi. Then plant life. Most of them being mosses and ferns. All of this happened without any form of animal existing.

I see no reason we could not start again from scratch, if truly it came to that. Given how smart Twilight is, and possibly her aunt, cousin, sister, mother, (Is SS in any way related to her?), they would undoubtedly know animal life itself, let alone sapience aren't inherently things the universe needs to function, it's only us who grew up with a sense of self importance. Maybe they want Earth and other planets like it to start over, clean up, and hope something better turns up from it all.

There are groups IRL who sustain themselves purely by recruiting outsiders who think total human sterilization would be ideal, and no one should ever have kids. They successfully persuade anyone who is not hardwired by religion to have them no matter what, to tie their tubes and vasectomise themselves. I personally agree with them. If I could forcefully sterilize the entire human race, I would. It would be a nice present to all other life on Earth. I like to think Sunny and her mentor, friend, cousin/sister, or whatever have only the noble cause of ecology driving their human extinction plot. Besides, with magic, do we really need development? And for all they know, they could open the door for any number of diseases that could wipe out the converted populace, that would never affect them were they normal. Maybe they are even less fertile, and cannot rapidly recoup their numbers, and will see negative population growth, which isn't always a bad thing.

:twilightoops:I wasn't aware that my story damaged this site's integrity and exposed the hypocrisy of... something. It's understandable to be upset with Sunset Shimmer at this point. She's pretty bad news.

It's possible that Sunset Shimmer's related to Twilight. That might explain why Twilight was chosen to chase her across the multiverse. Or perhaps it was just the right place at the right time, and Twilight threw herself into danger, to keep Sunset from escaping before the portal closed. In any case, if Sunset's causing people to turn into ponies, Twilight might be the only hope they've got to stop her.

I'm not sure where you got sterilization from. Last I checked, people were getting turned into ponies, not getting vasectomies. :unsuresweetie:

8995598
I was referring to the disclaimer. A site dedicated specifically to fanfiction of a specific film, program or series has plenty of room to makes rules regarding copyright when it has no affiliation with the company that properly owns the property being exploited to build itself. I believe you thought along similar lines.

While I don't agree with needless cruelty, I do agree that having humanity around is optional, not mandatory. It's extinction wouldn't harm any other life forms around, as none but cattle and the like rely entirely on them to live. And we no longer need cattle or the like ourselves. Converting permanently into another species or total sterilization equal the same thing: the extinction of the human race, but the survival of the individuals within it.

And either way, men are no longer needed, as they have not been to begin with. Given how animals and plants only occurred after protists, bacteria, and fungi had inhabited this earth for thousands of years in our complete absence well before the first moss or fern ever took root, let alone the first animal, I don't think human extinction would be such a tragedy. There were no men then, why should there be in a future where we are starting again? There's no proof the death of "developed, evolved" life will end all life.

Naturally I would have a desire to live, but giving life, and thereby ensuring sapience goes on is not something I have any remote desire for. If there was any side effect that hindered fertility in most, or even all converted individuals, it may cause misery for some, but certainly not me. I enjoy planting, but aside from that, I have no desire to give life. And I certainly would not want to be forced to give life whether I like it or not. And I would never see fit to force another intelligent person to conceive. That is a special kind of cruelty, and I would execute she who would do do such a thing.

8995669
Oh, yeah the song lyrics thing is stupid. Apparently the RIAA has been particularly vicious about it though, so I can understand if the site would disallow them, while allowing technical infringement on the trademark of a toy company that tacitly appreciates the publicity.

I suppose turning every human being into a pony would count as eliminating the human race. Fortunately, Sunset only transformed a convention center, and it does not appear to be contagious. So what she's doing is not especially clear, in our story so far.

Huh...well that happened.

Will this story have any sex scenes, implied or otherwise, where the woman does most or all of the work? Also, what's canon abuse?

9021334
It was indeed a sequence of events!

9021406

Will this story have any sex scenes, implied or otherwise, where the woman does most or all of the work?

The very first sex scene had Twilight riding Aaron like a mechanical bull! As for Meadowsweet herself eh... she's actually pretty vanilla, so I don't expect she's going to take charge in a lot of cases. I'm sure she'd attempt cowgirl on request, but she's way too nice to force the guy to keep going after he came, especially since she didn't like it when Twilight did it to her, and before he came... well, it's not like he's gonna stop thrusting and make you take matters into your own hooves.

I'll think about it, but for the most part I let the scenes develop naturally, instead of intending toward some sex act or another. What I intend are character interactions, then often those interactions include some form of sex. There certainly are mares doing it cowgirl style somewhere, so the question is if Meadowsweet would ever happen upon them, rather than whether "this story will have sex scenes that are cowgirl or lapdance."

I'm sure it will, eventually.

what's canon abuse?

A lot of people get mad when evil, conniving authors such as myself deceive them into reading horrible, sacriligeous non-canon interpretations of their favorite characters. So to prevent those innocent victims from leaving angry comments about how I'm not allowed to make Twilight Sparkle act that way, I made sure to put a warning in the description. "Canon abuse" Is the best tag I could come up with, for this... thing that bothers them so much.

And the award for the best actress who was ever conceived goes to....

9025911

That foul mouthed little filly! Brian Jones, come on down to receive your award!

:twilightangry2: < ( This contest was rigged!! )

I hope that's not why you have abandoned previous projects. And leave this one nothing but a mere concept. It's actually nice when an author follows through with their work, whether the end result is satisfactory or not! (yes, I do read disclaimers).

9046762
If having readers enabled me to be able to finish projects, then I'd have written the rest of Bloom Filter by now instead of getting stuck on the stupid Fluttershy chapter and never feeling any motivation to work on it for literal years. But yeah, it is a little discouraging when nobody leaves any comments about the latest chapter in this story, for the last... 9 chapters. I wish more people could discover this awesome story, which seems to have turned into a lame, unpopular story once I've written it down. But I swear it's the best story I've ever written!

Also looking at the statistics, Magnificent is in 179 bookshelves. So my statement about "3 readers" is a teeny bit of an exaggeration. Still, no way to tell how many people faved this story, then left the site and never read it. And considering that "BlackWarGreymon: Warrior of Harmony" is in 1,013 bookshelves, 179 isn't all that... great.

9046789
Please, don't peter it out. I have written things no one will ever see, and wonder if I should have written them in the first place. You have actually posted your stories, and clearly want them to be seen, which they are as far as I can see. Possibly not a runaway hit, but a success nonetheless.

I actually like your statements, too. IIRC, you said you like for grim and dark things to happen, so long as things turn out alright in the end. I think animated film director Don Bluth said something remarkably similar. Kids can handle the bleakest of things so long as you end on a high note. I think one of your PMs said so, that it's best to have bleak, seemingly hopeless things happen, but you prefer for things to turn out fine in spite of that.

9046789
"But yeah, it is a little discouraging when nobody leaves any comments about the latest chapter in this story"
Well, I do! Just, you know, not on this page.
I do get that's not really what you meant, though; sorry.

9046800
Don Bluth is one of my favorite directors ever. Even when he lost Steven Spielberg, and all his movies turned into weirdo nonsense.

I don't think this story will peter out. Unlike Bloom Filter, I actually like Magnificent. And if the plot isn't charging forward like an out of control steamroller (very slowly, but good luck stopping it), then there's always the desire to see what Meadowsweet will get up to next, and with whom. I can't predict the future, but I'll try my best to bring this story to its epic conclusion.

9047912
Yes, you're amazing. ♥

"I just... I’ve been catching things, a-and eating them."
Which is, as I understand it, indeed a genuine Horse Thing. :D
(Not sarcasm, seriously.)

9054389
I actually don't know how much wild horses engage in small animal predation. I don't suspect it's a whole lot, though.

Also you've broken the combo! Yay! 8 chapters with no comment, and finally it gets one! Though I'm not sure if you count. :derpytongue2:

I like the mystery part of your stories slowly unraveling what is really happening and encouraging the reader to search for hints.
It's what really made me enjoy Bloom Filter.(One of the first stories I found on this site and I am still rereading it every few months).

But Magnificent makes me feel uncomfortable.
I think that's part of the stories intention and not bad per se.
But the despiction of the ponies as more primal(?) and Insane Sparkles personality disorder is just not my thing.
( I am just a person who always takes the paragon path in games and plays a Paladin so too much bad things happening discourages me xD)

Please don't stop writing, your stories make my days a bit brighter :yay:

9055187

I won't stop writing, don't worry!

But Magnificent makes me feel uncomfortable.

:pinkiegasp: Uncomfortable? But clearly this story is full of only the most wholesome, comfortable, inoffensive things that couldn't possibly upset anyone. :pinkiecrazy:

But the despiction of the ponies as more primal(?)

I always love when ponies are really... intense and powerful, more so than the show. Not restrained to political correctness and child friendliness. Primal's one way to describe it I suppose, but the adjective that I'm going for is more along the lines of badass. Or dare I say it, metal.

and Insane Sparkles personality disorder is just not my thing. ( I am just a person who always takes the paragon path in games and plays a Paladin so too much bad things happening discourages me xD)

It's funny, because actually, the truth is I can't imagine any character more like a Paladin in this story than Twilight Sparkle. If you don't tire of the story before Twilight returns, I bet you're gonna really like her the next time she does. Third time's the charm.

I like the mystery part of your stories slowly unraveling what is really happening and encouraging the reader to search for hints.

I'll try to keep that in mind! I also wrote this story for the romance, and adventure, but nothing makes a journey epic as much as gratuitous amounts of foreshadowing.
