The hardest part about writing is that nothing you make is ever as good on the page as it was inside your head... but other people don't know that, so we worry over nothing.

Sunset Shimmer has done her best to help Sonata Dusk turn her life around. But things are falling apart anyway. Sunset doesn't want to lose her friend and roommate, but it seems inevitable. Saving their relationship might mean changing things between them, forever.

Contains Sunata. Written for the Changing Seasons shipping contest.

Actually I didn't want to read the stories of my rivals in the contest until it's over (<– already broke this rule twice), but your story intrigued me (might have a softspot for Sunata). I really want to see where this goes.
Just don't forget to add this to the Contest's group.

Yo, don't forget to add the story to the contest group or else it won't get counted!

Overall, a pretty good story! I felt chapter eight was the strongest one, where you had Sunset describing her day to day and it was really easy to get the feeling of how empty her life was without Sonata. I felt that the opening parts, before we learn what's up with Sonata's condition, could have been shortened so we could get to the meat of the story, and I'm not sure if having Sonata not want to interact with the rest of Sunset's friends added much. Overall, though, it was an enjoyable read!

:unsuresweetie: if you say so. I'm just glad I finished the story.

:raritystarry: I love getting reviews like this, that way I can do better next time.
Overall, I feel like this story came out rushed, mostly because it was. I found out about the contest the very last week. With a bit more time I might've polished it up. I did well enough, I think, considering both the time spent and that [as the description says] I've never written romance/shipping before.
I think the way to fix it would be to spread the exposition out more in the beginning, and yes, remove Sonata's trust issues. Ooh, I could've had Sunset be the one who was worried. That probably would've been more in character anyway... Ah well. Next time.

Yup, there's always next time. And for something you did in a week, I'd say this was pretty good!

I wrote that comment when the story was still under way

Determination. Sonata would live. I would see to it.

*Seeing that Sonata will live fills you with DETERMINATION.

Sonata and Saffron being friends is the most wonderful meta reference :pinkiehappy:

I've said this a lot, but it was totally unintentional.

You could cut this angst with a knife. <.< I rue that the contest necessitated shipping, because it definitely seems like things are dragging out.

Ugh, I can't help but like it though. :D

That’s because tacofish and baconhorse are both incredibly adorable.

I’m... honestly unsure of how I feel about the geode playing such a huge role. On one hand, the imagery and way it led Sunnybuns to realize both Sonata’s love and her own was neat. On the other, I just have this picture of Sunset already having a massive amount of ability to read others embedded in my vision of her. Her magic makes her more, it doesn’t give her new stuff.

Overall I liked this story. It’s gonna be hard on them with the four months a year thing. Unless purplesmartthumbsedition can build them an indoor salt water tank that gets Netflix or something.

Say, who made the coverart? It´s cute!

... why did you think she´d turn into a fish?

Because i was a idiot

That was a really stupid move if you want to know what your true feelings are, at least if you don´t know how exactly the magic works.
Think about it for a moment. It is completely possible that the magic lets you relive your memory, but when that memory gets refreshed the “new” feelings don´t replace the old ones. Instead they could be felt as truly new feelings and would be stronger, since the old ones are still there. This would get worse if you do it multiple times or on multiple memorys with the same feelings towards an specific object or person.
Sooo... Love spell?
