As much as i would love to see a follow up i think you are right it just fits so well as a one-shot. What I DO see is another story in the same style but Rarity designing her wedding dress for her wedding with Spike and we get flashbacks to how each piece holds some kind of reminder of their time together. And maybe her making a maternity gown for her as she is prego with Spike's child.
You know, for the barest of moments, I thought Diamond was going to go in a sweet, profound direction with this. Oh how wrong I was.
Cute idea tho. Feel free to share the smutty continuation! I'll never say no to more Sparity.

I still am okay with the direction that the story went in though.
Two things. One: considering Diamond Tiara's roll in the story, shouldn't she be listed in the characters as well?
Two: while entertaining, I think I would prefer a better idea at Rarity's motivation.
The first half of this convinced me it would be some thinky piece where Rarity gets jealous or reevaluates her view of Spike, or gets upset about Diamond's cynical plans.
Then Diamond left and it changed gears so fast I got whiplash. Still entertaining for the sheer WAT factor, though.
And he saved the Crystal Empire from Sombra for Cadence. Damn, he really is a king maker. This isn't an exaggeration at all. The CIAs got nothin on him.
I like this Rarity. I like this Rarity A LOT.
Well go Rarity, though Diamond is gonna be pissed, and I don't really blame her. Told in confidence and was usurped for it. Also credit to Diamond for realizing what is genuine fact with Spike.

This actually brings up something I've always found funny but that no one seems to ever bring up. That Spike is probably the most royally connected creature in all of Equestria.
He's BFF to both the Dragon Lord and King of the Changings.
The adopted brother of the Princess of Friendship and therefore the adopted brother of the King of the Crystal Empire. Not to mention considered a great hero by it's people.
Is on a first name basis with both Princess Celestia and Luna, with a direct line of communication to the former. (and depending on if you subscribe to the idea, is Celestia's adopted son)
Dude basically has 3 Princess, 2 Kings, and a Lord on speed dial.
I have to say, I was really impressed with this. This story was sexy, mature (in more ways than one) and yet still, a sweet way for Rarity to share some lovely charms Spike's way. Diamond Tiara would totally work that "prince" angle, and having Rarity actually jealous of her (to an extent) was a great touch to get Rarity motivated. I love the image of Rarity's dress and how she thought of Spike in such a more respectful manner. I would love more of this, purely out of for the sake of my pure enjoyment of this story but I agree that this works better as a one shot. I think you presented Rarity in a classy and seductive manner that would be right up her alley and I loved Spike's reaction to her dress. I'd LOVE to see more like this, much applause given!!!
I'm actually disappointed--I was expecting a stinger in which Diamond walks off from her observation post, having easily manipulated Rarity into making her move on Spike, and I was looking forward to seeing what her master plan was.

Don't forget that cadance is wife to said adopted brother and best friend/ex foalsitter/sister in law to Twilight and if you want to make the connection spike himself. That makes all 4 princesses.

Very true. Cadence's connection is a little weaker then the others since it's through a second party, but it still counts.

Wait, how old is Blueblood? Because I sorta assumed he was in his pony-late-30s-to-early-40s in the show, putting him in his pony-mid-40s-to-early-50s in this story (assuming Diamond Tiara is around pony-13 in the show and this is set 5ish years later), making that possibility a May-October romance at the most. </humorous pedantry>

Yeah, holy shit. I actually looked it up because I was certain it was a reference to some classic poem or something, but no. Rocinante just wrote one of the greatest sentences ever put to ASCII, at least in reference to pastel horses having sex with with cartoon dragons.

He lives with 2 of the 3 most powerful unicorns in the known world, one of which is close friends with one of the most brilliant spellcrafters (spellsmiths? warlocks? Whatever Sunburst is) and both(?) of which personally know the third.
He lives in an enormous library, presumably filled with magical spells (I wouldn't be shocked if Twilight had used the publishing spell on most of the books from Canterlot)
He has the ability to turn into an enormous, nigh-unstoppable monster through greed alone.
He probably also has access to the leaders of the Hippogriffs and the Yaks, and whoever's in charge of the Griffins (though likely via second-hand connections) while we're at it.
If Tartarus's location is secret, which it almost certainly is, he's in on it if I remember correctly. So there's Tirek and Cozy Glow and Cerberus and Cockatrices and Manticores and Hydras and(...)
And, of course, he's close friends with Applejack, whose older brother is an Earl.
Jesus Christ, let's hope Spike never starts feeling like a coup.

Not sure if the greed one can be considered an advantage considering he losses his mind.
You right about the other things though. If Spike wanted he could use his vast connections to every kingdom to manipulate every race into any kind of war he wanted and likely come out king of the world.
Another thing I noticed as of the molting episode. Spike's fire breath is OFF THE CHARTS!
He roasts a giant Roc with one fire blast. And that thing is big enough to hold a pony completely in a single claw. He can basically fire roast something the size of a 2 story building in a single shot.
