I was most touched by Big Macintosh and Chalk story. So I guess, if you are asking, I'll like to see where that story goes.
Although "cousin Braeburn and my ma's an outlaw" did have me smiling.
Yer ma is an notorious outlaw The Sundance Mare. Wanted for 6 counts of train robberies, 12 counts of bank robberies, 23 counts of resisting arrest by marshals of the law and 7 counts of being disorderly in public on account of bar fights. We had hoped that raising you away from the rough and tumble of the frontier would be of good. But it seems you've inherited plenty from yer ma.
"What do you mean?" Apple Bloom cried.
"We heard you have been kicking and biting other ponies in school." Applejack said sadly.
This has some pretty serious potential. Don't have time to finish the rest of the chapters, so I'll come back later and do that!

Actually I also like the idea of Big Mac and Applejack not being as closely related as we were lead to believe, and bringing both stories together into a happier ending for little Apple Bloom. That'd ruin the drama of it, though.

Okay, so the whole cousins thing was throwing me off until you explained it. Yeah, that is far enough away to be acceptable. Okay. It makes me like it a lot more too. Plus, he's on the Aunts side, and she's on the Uncles, right? :D But I really like this story and look forward to reading the rest of it right now. I can't wait to find out what actually is the truth, but this is awesome anyway.
I really didn't like Scoots story as much as I liked Sweeites. I mean, I liked it, don't get me wrong. Sweetie's story just felt...better? If one of those two are the 'real' story, I hope it was Sweetie's. Though if AJ or Big Mac are her mom or dad, then why not just say so, you know? That would be confusing, at least to me...I can sorta see why for Aj, since she was alone and so young and such, but everyone knew about Big Mac and Chalk so why would he hide it? Just my thoughts, I guess. I really liked this story though. If it wasn't already complete, I would track it for sure. I do hope you eventually make a 'true' story where AJ and Big Mac tell her what really happened, though I am going to go see the other stories you mentioned in you A/N. Anyway, please keep writing stories, you're good.

Amazing story! As much as I want to know what really happened, It will be interesting to see a continuation from both sides.
Well, that was anticlimactic...but I liked it. In fact I loved it. Some may give you hell for having Applejack hook up with her cousin, but I don't think it's that bad. In fact, given the characterization, it makes sense. After all, technically we're all cousins. If your definition of inbreeding is that broad, you'll have to go off-world to avoid it.
Also, here's a question: Why couldn't Mac and Chalk marry? Oh, she's already married? Well then, why couldn't she get a motherfucking divorce!? I'm sure some court in Ponyville will issue a divorce or annulment, even if all parties don't agree, on the basis of domestic violence. In Canada I know they'd do the same in cases of adultery, in fact they fast-track divorces in those cases.
1407022 I actually didn't think of Ponyville's Mayor issuing a divorce, silly me. Cliffside has the problem of a corrupt Mayor who takes bribes from Hoof Cliff, which is why Chalkwasn't able to get a divorce without leaving home, but you're right, Mayor Mare probably could have made it happen. Of course, Big Macintosh is really the only pony who cared about Chalk's legal status, out of a sense of duty to his father's upbringing. Even Applejack didn't care that Chalk was married (possibly because she'd just gotten home from a wild love affair with a Manehattan banker).

Third time reading through this story, and I only just noticed the fan art at the end. That's adorably sweet!
I'm reminded yet again why I've recommended this story to others more times than I can recall over the years. Never mind the borrowed story elements from Austen and Bronte, you've created a story here that's wonderful and unique.
