Sequels1

T

This story is a sequel to You're Wanted: I'll Always Protect You

When a group of stallions claim to be protesting unfair discrimination under Celestia's laws in cases of abuse, Twilight, ever loyal to her mentor, sets out to fight them. Twilight believes they're just trouble makers trying to break up families and cause national strife.
Rainbow however, believes their message and sees them as real victims wanting to be heard. She decides to defend them and help them get out their message.
The two mares butt heads, Twilight unsure and Rainbow determined. While they fight, Rainbow learns that more is at stake than a civil rights argument. Some of the stallions are peaceful and just want Celestia to hear them. Others, many trained and powerful soldiers, see Celestia's laws as betrayal, and want revenge.

I suppose I will have to clarify one thing, as I noticed something while re-reading even this prologue. If you know this is a men's rights related story, it might be confusing to note that even in the beginning there are male and female villains and heroes, male and female victims and male and female shades of gray. Frankly, that's how I view reality. I will not, during this story, to make a point, betray that view. (Though it's probably obvious that characters with radical beliefs will be frequent.) Both genders have the same capabilities, even if they have different general behavior patterns, which to be honest, those behavior patterns themselves are neither good nor evil.
But let me be clear, the flaw in a woman isn't that she's not like a man, and the flaw in a man is not that he's not like a woman. Though yes, not having a certain balance of masculine and feminine traits can make life very difficult.

This site is for the stories you wish to write, folks make political stories and blogs here all the time. If you don't wish to read such stories, don't.

You expressed your opinion. You won't give the story a chance because you don't like stories with a political message. That's your choice. I am curious why you bother commenting on a story you're not going to give a chance, but that's also your choice.

This is a dumb conversation. If you don't want to read the story, then don't. I'm not going to convince you of anything as you already stated, and you're not going to convince me, so whatever we say here, really doesn't matter.

The tone of your comment was as if you either had authority or were judging me for something wrong. You aren't a mod of that level that I'm aware, and I've done nothing wrong, morally or by the rules of the site.

Can anyone tell me why this story doesn't appear on my story list?- Nevermind, figured it out...

It's infuriating that so far the only people that have commented on this story just want to bitch about the subject... Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the story, and the topic needs to be discussed anyway.

8112171 Well, thanks for being a voice yourself then. I'm glad to see the likes and comments supporting this stuff.

Something I don't know if you saw, because I deleted it (the fore explanation took up too much space), was a response to a potential question about this last chapter, maybe you and everyone would like the answer.

"If Celestia is wrong about controlling male behavior being the key to peace, why is it working?"
First answer, the concept has SOME basis in fact. Males are more aggressive than females by nature, meaning more likely to engage in war. Yes, history is littered with aggressive women in power, like Queen Mary the 1st of England, for whom the drink "bloody Mary" is named. However, it's fair to point out that those are the women that got ahead in a male dominated political world, so they had to be aggressive to get there in the first place. Nothing about their gender makes them better, as this story points out itself, so there's no reason for them to be different if they used the same means to acquire power as most men. So yes, possibly, a society that was female dominated, without large male influences, would be less nationally aggressive. It would probably need super weapons to protect it from surrounding cultures while not being aggressive, but Equestria has those.
The second answer, is that Celestia is a flat out liar in a way that in advanced culture isn't rare. The most blatant example in recent memory I have is the presidency of Bill Clinton. Some call his presidency the "Decade of Peace". Really, at best it was the "Decade of Relative Peace If You Squinted". Terrorists were attacking American military installations and embassies around the world, there were American boots on the ground in Haiti, Kosovo, Bosnia, Somalia, Columbia and Albania and there were ongoing struggles with Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, Mexico and even a few with China. (That's just the stuff I remember, there was more than that, trust me.) Peace? Are people serious? The only thing LESS peaceful would have been a global war. Even the War on Terror itself, almost started in the 90s several times. Bill was just really good with word play. Everything was "peace keeping" or "military posturing" or "an issue for law enforcement" (like the original attack on the World Trad Center and the USS Cole bombing). Celestia just isn't acknowledging that she narrowly dodged a war with the changlings and Sombra by luck alone, or that with her pathetic military infrastructure, her entire kingdom was almost conquered by a lone alicorn mare with no military force of her own. Her system has HUGE flaws, but she just directs attention to how the day was saved, likely to deflect questions about how so many problems are occurring.

8120407 Thanks for the encouragement!

I keep debating what I should do in the realm of bringing the real world into this presentation, as after all, this story, at it's core, is meant to entertain as well as inform, and being lectured at is the opposite of entertainment. Heck, I think Silent's explanation of what's going on to Rainbow borders on a lecture as is.

That being said, comments are not story and if you're reading this, that might be because you are looking for more information. If I'm promoting men's rights, it is of little value to do this without presenting facts about what I'm protesting it the real world. Otherwise this story is just that, a story. So, since a huge portion of what's being addressed in this chapter is issues having to do with child custody, and serious issues at that, here's a little of what's going on in family courts in the real world. You decide if its worse or better than what's shown in the story:

I feel like Nurse Redheart Should make an appearance, to at least treat some of the injured foals.... And she wouldn't be able to reveal the location of the camp, because of Doctor-Patient Confidentiality.... That One Foal with the fucked up ribcage breaks my heart.

8129863

Someone there has to know at least combat medicine I guess, as one has a cast.

Really these guys are lucky they had Silver, otherwise most of them would probably be homeless, dead or in a gang. With Silver I'm trying to make it clear that this story is not anti female, after all, a lot of the heroes really are mares. The camp is a show of the power of someone with a heart. In this story, Silver saved possibly thousands of lives, all in spite of the government, now that's girl power.

Not sure if anyone will answer, but I'm gonna throw this out there. I'm going ahead and adding this to writing groups here on Fimfic. Yep, brace yourselves for the controversy you know is coming when more people see the story.

Here's my question.
Here goes, spoiler alert. A romance is about to bloom between Rainbow and Silent. They're two young ponies of opposite genders who believe in the same cause and are starting to admire each other, not a hard story of attraction to understand. Romance is obviously not the focal point of this story, though it will be a BIG part of it. So then, should I consider adding it to shipping groups, or not?

so i just read the prologue, and the comments ( or lack thereof )

can i assume that every nasty comment, not followig the authors opinion or even giong straight against the "political message" of the story will be instantly deleted, because critizism is prohibited ?

so back to the story:

its basically a reversed version of victimisation of women, who try to do bad thinks

She tried to shake our daughter

and when someone stops them, they play the victims and the unjust authority goes against the one stopping them

You abusers sicken me with your excuses. Just give us the child and go. I can’t imagine what you want to do to it.

well, congratulations, author :moustache:

that`s almost an exact representation of our current social problems when it comes to modern feminism and SJWs.

have a like

8177709
I didn't delete those comments, the person who wrote them did because the bulk of what he said was to forbid me to write this story when he had no such authority. He agreed it was a silly spat and deleted the comments probably because it was embarrassing. I do not forbid disagreement, that's half the problem with modern feminism anyway, dissent is seen as the same as... well even violence.

That being said, thank you for the support.

Still I have a pretty big fear that folks will see Twilight being portrayed as, well pretty much this world's version of a radical feminist, and just jump ship mid chapter.

ever watched Sargon of Akkad on Youtube?:pinkiehappy:

then you know why i wouldn't skip this chapter for money :moustache:

arguing, radical feminazis are always hilarious to watch / listen / read about :rainbowlaugh:

all right, read the chapter

just as i thought, Twilitghts short sight and close minded " Celestia is always right" and "for sure laws hundreds of years old cannot be flawed and have to be revised" mentality is just as hilarious as actual feminists argumentation :rainbowlaugh:

sadly i can't give you another like, but have some moustache instead :moustache: :moustache: :moustache:

8177720

ok then, got confused about seeing so many deleted comments on the first cahpter :twilightsheepish:

well, sadly (hopefully, because i'm an evil person),

i don't believe this is going to end well, like it seems to go IRL

have some more moustaches :moustache::moustache: :moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache:

8177720
8177796 Yep I deleted them because it was a pointless disagreement. (Though I like to think I didn't forbid anyone from doing anything as I much as I expressed that it was a bad idea, but again, pointless disagreement. )

8178243
Your passion suggested you thought I was in the wrong when there was no wrong anyway, per say, just what you don't enjoy... but even if you didn't mean that, it was a silly arguement. Still like your stories and some of your comments are useful so not really upset.

Came back to reread.... again. Found something I missed the first time.

“He was a victim of abuse himself,” Rainbow said. “One lucky enough that the law listened to him. He watched that charade with me. He apparently had hopes something would happen… I guess his heart breaking was something right?”
“Rainbow I had no idea this would be so personal for you…” Twilight started to explain, actually not sure where she was going with that point.

*Crack*

“What difference would it make if it wasn’t?” she asked, tears starting to form in her eyes. “I’m going home. Home to teach my daughter to treat others as equals… apparently I’m the only one who believes in that…” Rainbow flew away.
Twilight looked at the ground. She spoke, knowing Rainbow wouldn’t hear. “I’m on your side Dash. I just don’t know what to do.”

You can almost SEE the moment Twilight's World View Shatters.

8180543
Definite parallels to the writer of the Red Pill.

100% unfair laws. Either Celestia will have to change them, or guys like Fire Sky are going to lead a rebellion, and there's likely to be unrest when the results of the "trials" in the previous chapter (in the form of protests, strikes, and civil disobedience).

8193298

In Equestria, definitely. Unfortunately, many of Celestia's laws in this story have real life counterparts and very few people are protesting. She's wrong morally, but I can only hope one day people like her will also be proved wrong effectively, as in, people stop just rolling over and taking it.

I also hope those people will be more like Rainbow and Silent, because folks like Fire will likely only makes things worse.

8193298

May as well put this up as a response to you. I found a song that fits my villain Fire Sky so well:

This is an interesting inversion on well, whatever we have in our world today.

8208201
Not sure what you mean by inversion but thanks.

Wait, Rainbow is the youngest? I thought Pinkie was the youngest!

8208294
In the series proper, I always see Rainbow as acting the least mature. Even in Wonder Bolt Academy she demonstrates not only good character, but growth- which means she had a lot of growing to do. Be honest, a moment like that for AJ would be interesting, but nowhere near as surprising. I think of Rarity and AJ as the oldest. The only age difference we know for sure is Pinkie and Fluttershy, Flutters being a year older. There are ways of POSSIBLY determining age, Rarity, for instance, is smart with experience and successful in an industry that takes time, where Twilight is implied to have just graduated and most of what she knows comes from books.

In this series, because she's become a single mother of a victim of neglect (Scoots), Rainbow has had to grow really fast. So yea, you'll probably notice her being more mature that her show counter part and the other characters.

Quick note. Where do you live? Because I live in NYC where the

impassioned campaigns against how men sit down on a bus.

is not some SJW gender equality issue, but a legit quality of life thing. On a crowded train/bus everyone hates that one asshole taking up one and a half times the space he can because he insist on sitting with his legs spread out. Women tend not to do this,. Now on a 1pm local train with plenty of seats, no one cares. But in rush hour? Yeah, it's a problem. Could more people take it upon themselves to either ask the guy to move over, or just sit next to him and encroach on his space so he voluntarily makes himself smaller. Yes. But they shouldn't have to. Pick a better example.

(Other than that I have no real opinion about the story. I mean you manage to portray both sides as extreme versions of their real world counterparts, which is fair, but I also feel like some nuance would go a long way.)

8243304
First, thank you for enjoying the story and thankyou for sharing your opinion, it is appreciated. Unlike Fire Sky, differing views are important to hear.

Sorry, but I don't see "man spreading" as a big deal, and when it is, the issue isn't discrimination, we as a society just need to get over our fears of touching and speaking to each other. Man/woman up and share your feelings. This isn't a gender issue either, women will often take up more room than they should too. You can think so, as long as you don't hurt anyone, free speech is your prerogative. In truth, there are probably a few issues I feel passionately about, that if I were entirely honest, I would have to admit aren't the biggest deals in the world. I get ticked off that there are so few bike lines and sidewalks, but no, we can't ever have the our sacred cars have just a little less road, never! (Yea, in the grand scheme of things, that's probably not a big deal.)

To portraying things as their extreme... that's the genre I chose I guess. I actually agree and am going to be writing a continuation of this story that deals with things on a more realistic level. Nothing that almost causes a freaking war, but this being in the history of that story will make circumstances that will be fun to play around with.

How does Rainbow act less mature than Pinkie?

8256494
I think on occasion she does in the show. Remember, you have to put it in context of what they do for a living. Being upbeat and goofy is part of Pinkie's job.

Actually there is some truth behind the Jewish Banking Conspiracy. Danny on Gamegrumps talked about it at one point. If I find it, do you want me to send you the link?

8268808
To answer that question as straightforwardly as possible: The Jews have a right to their homeland. I am VERY pro Israel. Honestly I don't know if I would even be disturbed if it were true they were trying to take over the world (seriously, anyone who's ever studied what "eye for an eye" is REALLY all about, knows its a far more logical and merciful form of justice than anything in the western world, it would be nice if that were the rule, rather than, "if we find you guilty of anything we can do whatever we want so long as you don't die"), but the idea is silly. Jews are one of the smallest people groups in the world and among the most persecuted in history. I have studied the Torah and the entire Christian version of the Old Testiment in detail and there isn't a single word about world conquest, which is ironic, as there are many prophecies about Israel becoming a commerce and worship capital of the world- with friendly yet independent nations all around. Even Zionist extremists tend to want a piece of land a little smaller than your average US state. I'm happy to still call you a friend, as I have feminist friends and you can see what I think of their ideas, but no, I'm not interested in theories like that. Happy to just debunk SJW nonsense for now.

Again, I don't despise you, but no, I'm not interested in theories like that one. The last time I heard anything about it was from a wack job who literally promoted the mass "mercy" killing of all mentally disabled people in the world. Would I suppose you to be like him, not at all, but that well has been well and poisoned to me, needless to say, it's not a theory I hold in high regard.

Oh and hey, ironically this feels really good to talk about. As you can all tell, I'm a vocal MRA.

At work, where I work I shall not say, one of my co-workers out of the blue tried to start a conversation about "things men aren't allowed to do" primarily wanting to discuss men not being allowed to hit women. I just repeatidely said women should not be allowed to hit men and that I advocate for the right to shelter for the abused male or female. When pushed, I said no one should hit anyone outside of self defense. When pushed again, I just said I thought it would be best if folks stopped trying to find excuses to hit each other. Needless to say, this "debate" wasn't going well for this liberal asshole. All he could do was waffle, doing his best to not sound like a monster. For the rest of the night he kept finding random reasons to talk to me, including very phony attempts to get me to de-stress. Turns out later on, you guessed it, he had been going to my boss and trying to accuse me of threatening my female coworkers to him, um no, I would never do that. I am SO happy with my boss as he shut the little twerp down. Eventually the guy left as a "protest" and was basically fired. So, thankfully, that's one cry bully who only got karma for his efforts.

8269668
No, the other jew banking conspiracy. Basically, the reason Jews have that whole "Greedy" stereotype is because of something along the lines of banking being the most trustworthy position to hold. Hence Why alot of Jewish people are in that business.
Edit: I actually found a thing on it. Here's a quote:

“Jewish wealth is a stereotype,” Muller said, “but in almost every society in which Jews have been granted a modicum of equal legal rights, even if there was social and religious discrimination, they tended to do disproportionately well economically. In central and western Europe, and eventually the United States, Jews were the wealthiest group on average by a wide margin.”

He also busts the myth that the ghettoized Jews of medieval Europe languished in poverty.

“It’s not true that for most of European history the Jews were poorer than the surrounding population,” Muller noted. “They were richer and certainly a lot more literate. It’s true they didn’t have many rights, but then the vast majority didn’t have many rights.”

He attributes Jewish success in business to Jewish culture, which tended to emphasize literacy and education. Moreover, the kinds of occupations Jews were allowed to enter typically required, and resulted in, knowledge of commerce.

And here is the article itself.
https://www.jweekly.com/2013/04/12/jews-and-money-the-stereotype-the-history-the-reality-jccsf-series-explores/

Nothing malicious about it, it's like the rules of the internet, not actually Rules, but more of an observation. I actually find this kind of thing Fascinating.

I don't believe it. Luna used common sense.

8269795
Okay, I see. Yes, I am aware of Israel's bazaar success story. But yea, financially that's related to a very intelligent cultural view of commerce and a high value of education. Sorry, but you worded it as there being truth to a conspiracy theory. You may as well have opened with "there is some truth to patriarchy theory", which is also true. Any good lie has some truth mixed in and that's how it spreads. But if this is an honest evaluation of things, I would be interested in that.

Before I read this, what is the Dark tag for ?
And how bad does it get ?

As this is a story about abuse, many stories of it are depicted and characters do die. No gore, no sexuality, though sexual abuse is mentioned., but not detailed.

What happened to the sequel?

8379104

Wasn't sure about it, after a while. It mentioned sexuality and while it didn't show anything, I'd really rather not be known for going there, even if that is just logically part of marraige and everything was G rated etc, etc.

Truth be told, Harmony's clown is a decent thematic sequal, set in the future after this major male civil rights movement, where stallions have carried things to the extreme that women have in the west. If there's enough people interested, I still might put Two Brides back up, or rework it, but there wasn't much interest anyway and honestly the split structure was hard to work with.
