War.....War never changes.

7641119 Oh no. We are definitely not going Fallout: Equestria with this. That's been done and done well.

7641119 If you hadn't said it, I would have.

I will say I very much liked how you chose to start with Chrysalis here and reveal signs of the disaster rather than just explain it. This is much more engaging and has my inner world builder squeeing with the opportunities presented here. If Celestia and Luna and Twilight were in the throne room, then chances are low that this was a spell gone horribly wrong-a lab of some sort would be a better place to cast such a spell of this possible magnitude, even if the effects were supposed to be beneficial.

So, almost definitely intentional, and someone who could build/cast such a destructive force is not only capable, but has a grudge against ponies. Or is absolutely heartless and just wanted to get rid of as many ponies as possible, and only ponies if the fact that their magic is tainted yet Changeling magic is unaffected (courtesy of Changeling's tendency for secrecy, it's unlikely they even knew about the Changelings beneath Canterlot).

Which means...

I don't know. Not enough information to say more on those responsible for this beyond musings on what happened.

Although, I will say that the magical explosion reminds me of the descriptions of balefire bombs from Fallout Equestria to an extent.

Well, that was one wham of an introduction episode. Me likey. Especially that you kept Chryssie in her villainous role, but not unreasonably so - she knows whatever happened is huge and it's time to put her plans of conquest on the backburner, since this could spell soon for everyone.

7641596 How old are ya?

7641638 50. Born July 11, 1966

7641135 I know, I just couldn't help making the joke.

7647812 That saying actually irks me (not having a go at you about it, particularly since you used it in jest) because war is one of the most constantly changing things ever. The ways they are fought, the weapons, the rules... And the biggest thing that annoys me about those games in particular talking about war, is that they only ever focus on small-scale fights, not "war."

</rant_off>

7648652 I think you are wrong in that regard as just because you change the way you do something just not change what that something is like with framing as just because you are using as tractor to plow the land instead of a horse tied to a plow dose not change the fact that you are still framing same go's with war the tools may change but in the end war it's self dose not as no matter what they use it is still people fighting a killing each other

As we mentioned in Damaged's fic, looks like someone flipped the world balance right the freak off the table. Sounds interesting, we just hope it's not just all doom and gloom.
Keep going! ;)

What an excellent time for a rebellion; directly after a major catastrophe! Rogue is dumb, and her actions will only bring more turmoil...
Well, at least as have some background for what caused the corruption, and at least it doesn't appear to be wholly intentional. So there's that.
Keep going! ;)

Rogue, you moron. That's the single worst time for that. Chryssie is the single most powerful being around now and you don't know if whatever caused the catastrophe won't come back. Plus, what does it matter if she has a soft spot for Twilight. That might actually help once Twilight wakes up.

Hmm, maybe someone murdered Fluttershy and that sent Discord over the edge?

Feel really meh about this, but I'll track it for now. :unsuresweetie:

:trollestia:

It almost seems too easy.

Well, now you've gone and done it... :rainbowlaugh:

I like this story. More!!!

8192906 Then I suggest, for now, you check out the linked stories by Damaged and Door Belle. They both take place in the same setting as this. :)

Yeah, retreat and regroup to stability, but research needs to be done to figure out why Discord exploded. There's a lot more to fix on this long path...
Rogue should be renamed Starscream, silly little thing. If only all insurrections were that easy to quench...
Keep going! ;)

Penalt, this is interesting so far, but I feel as if character development is sorely lacking. For instance, Rogue is...just there. I don't know his or her motivation, why they wanted to betray and overthrow Chrysalis, or anythign else-or why they'd try this at the peak of an absolute disaster.

This is the wake of a disaster, but even considering that I feel like Chrysalis is lacking a bit in introspection and emotions, as well as her relationship with her various changelings and the pony survivors. I actually like this chapter a bit more than the second because we had some interaction and views into Chrysalis' mentality with the guards, but I can't help but feel as if there could be more.

Iiiiiiinteresting. Good to see that Chryssie is aware of Rogue's coming treachery.

... You just had to tempt fate, Chryssie...

I mean, it's always about perspective. Some things changes, some never did.

I don't know why people downvote this. Sure, a few Chekhov's guns here and there, but nothing significant. The thing with Rogue could be fleshed given time. Alas, that was not the case.

I might want to continue the "Fog" story by Door Belle. He doesn't seem active, so can I ask for your blessing instead?
