Just an introvert who likes My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I also like to write MLP fanfiction. Twilight Sparkle is my favorite pony.

Sequels1

T

Today's the day! Twilight is finally going to tell Rainbow Dash how she feels, and it couldn't be a better day for it! But there's still plenty that could go wrong, including Rainbow saying no. Needless to say, things go wrong in a way neither of them could have imagined, and Twilight's day goes from bad to worse...

This is more or less just setup for the sequel, and the sequel is much better than this.

that was powerful, no pun intended :D

Will there be more?!? I sure hope so!!

7416546 I may, yes, but if I make a sequel it will be a while. I am working on other things right now and life is somewhat busy.

7417458 I understand!! XP Just make it quick!!XD

7470233 I am working on the sequel, but it's going to take some time. My progress has been limited to the first chapter, which I need to rewrite because it doesn't feel right.

I read your author's note, and you did a pretty good job with the reactor bits. The only nitpick (former Navy Nuclear Propulsion here) is that a 'critical' reactor is steady state... one neutron in, one neutron out. Critical is good, supercritical is bad. That means one neutron in, more than one out. In other words it's spiralling out of control.

I also notice you like the term 'wryly' quite a bit. Perhaps use other terms in the future? This is pretty good otherwise.

Alright, thanks for pointing that out. I know the different states of nuclear reactions, but obviously, I messed that up somehow. :twilightblush: Fixed it, thanks again.

Working on it... Expect it out sometime next month... Busy busy, college starting, other stories, etc... sorry for the wait, but it is coming along.

All Twi needs to do is pop some RadSafe and inject herself with some RadAway, easy fix.

I guess Potassium Iodide doesn't exist in Equestria? Or does recieving three times the normal fatal dose of radiation render it useless?

7863649

Twilight is suffering from radiation poisoning which basically means that the radiation was strong enough to destroy the DNA and others important molecules of a good part of her cells. Nothing that Potassium iodide can help with (it is only used to reduce the risk of radiation induced thyroid cancer).

7926858 Thanks for clarifying that. All I know about the stuff, myself, is that it's labeled something along the lines of 'anti-radiation', which didn't sound possible.

7929541 What potassium iodide specifically does is protect you from absorbing radioactive iodine in the thyroid gland by saturating your thyroid to 100% of its iodine capacity so that it's not absorbing any iodine from the environment. You have to start taking it 48 hours before exposure to reach optimal saturation of the thyroid before coming into contact with iodine, and you have to continue taking it on a daily basis in order to maintain saturation until you are no longer being exposed.

8108367 *sigh* Seeing as there's no way I could possibly remember those instructions on a whim, I sure do hope that I don't get any sort of radiation poisoning in the near future.

8109299 Survivalist types tend to stockpile the stuff "in case of doomsday", but the serious take is that it's not really any use unless you can actually anticipate exposure, like if you're disaster response.

This is more or less just setup for the sequel, and the sequel is much better than this.

What makes you so sure this story is so bad? Or are you just saying the next story is an Even Better Sequel?

I... cringe... when I went back to reread this. It feels kind of forced to me. The sequel feels more fluid and better, but that's just my opinion. Also, the sequel is longer. That earns it points in my book. :twilightsheepish:

Twilight needs some Rad-X.

Also, it's kind of weird that Ponyville has a reactor, isn't it kind of small for that sort of thing? And what would the reactor power? And I'm basically just nit-picking, this was good stuff.

Now onto the sequel.

Being someone who got radiation poisoning I know how it can feel.. this more gets me because I'd never want anyone to go through that and especially not Twilight. And with taking 3x the max her condition would be far far worse if she were human.

Anyway let's move on from me being sad and miserable. I thought this story was fairly good, in some places it seems rushed or forced. But over all it's good

9362300
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get radiation poisoning?

9362332
Heh through greed and following orders. Can't say where, but it involved afew cargo containers of "supplies" that turned out to be a mix of fuel spent fuel and waste. One of the worst experiences of my life. And I still have issues from it, not to mention the 6 monthly check ups for another few years.

9362987
...Uhh, I have a few questions. First, if you don't mind me asking, how exactly did this happen? Was it not labeled, or..? Second, if you read/are reading/have read the sequel, did I get the results/after-effects down decently well? If it makes you uncomfortable to think about, you don't have to answer.

9363379
You got the symptoms down pretty well. Especially the bleeding, and feeling constantly sick. Though not sure if that was the radiation or the meds they where pumping into us. And it seems her recovery was a great deal faster. Though I was wondering if a pony would suffer the hair loss..
Unfortunately the containers were unmarked. And we just got paid to move them.

9364015
Ah... I would ask why they were unmarked, but my guess is either you can't say or mistakes were made. (Also this sort of reminds me of The X-Files.)

Regarding the hair loss, I know that's one of the side effects, but I didn't include it and I can't remember why. It might have been because it'd be a bit gross/disgusting to write about that (and possibly read).

9364076
Ah yeah, good point hair loss on a pony. May have been alittle to much. Esther way I'm enjoying the story's sequel so far.

9364076
So I got thinking about what me and the others symptoms. confusion, Fever, Hair loss, Nausea, fatigue, fainting, and vomiting blood and muscle weakness. Also 2 of the guys developed blisters and soars with one losing the ability to swallow and digest food.
Grim I know, but I hope it helps you in your continued writing efforts.

9366542
I don't think it really helps my continued writing efforts (I'm not currently writing anything or have plans for anything that involves more radiation sickness, although I guess it could happen in the future) but I really do appreciate your comments and talking (chatting?) with you! I've never encountered anyone (to my knowledge) who has actually experienced it first hand, so it's interesting to hear from you. I hope you stay well and don't have any future problems from it!
