A great disaster strikes the Crystal Empire shortly after finding an amazing archaeological find in the crystal mines. News reaches Princess Twilight Sparkle in a short amount of time, a letter from her brother speaking of a beast as black as shadows that tore apart the royal guard in a matter of seconds, but stopped his rampage only moments later, unfortunately most of the empire had been burnt and ravaged as the beast fled. Just a day after receiving the letter Twilight and her friends prepare to head to the empire, when an odd dragon wanders into Ponyville, he is odd because unlike any dragon she had even seen, he adorned a unicorn like horn on his head, his midnight black scales seemed to shine in the day. One major question was going through the princesses mind, where did he come from and what are his intentions.
What's so dangerous about him this time? Celestia, Luna, and some guards are all it took the first time. Now they're got Cadence, Shining Armor, and Twilight. Are the modern guards no match for their predecessors? Is Luna not fully recovered from the Elements? Also, FIRST COMMENT!!!

Twilight makes the most sense to me. After what he has said to her in Assault Part one it would be weird if he just get with Celestia. And of sure he will not get together with Chrysalis, given what her plans are.
BTW, speaking of chapter 6: I got to say that I'm a bit disappointed that Twilight didn't said anything to Shade about her feelings. I was kind of hoping for a heartwarming scene in which the two share their feelings to each other.
I don't know exactly which character choose to make an example of. But it should be enough to make him powerful enough to take on the whole FIM-verse all togheter if necessary. No rainbow power should be capable to take him down.
Love at first sight is kind of childish stuff IMO. What makes ShadeXTwilight work is that, unlike FlashLight, is that the two have a lot in common and a good chemistry that goes beyond crashing into each other. I guess that as long the two doesn't go to marry in few days and have them learn more and more of their feelings togheter it would be great, as having him bonding with her friends too so that the rest of the Mane 6 doesn't get left behind and help the pair to grow more and more attached.
