The Great and Powerful Trixie returns to Ponyville a year after her prior visit to offer magic lessons to Twilight Sparkle. Does the brash unicorn have something to teach Twilight or will Trixie simply find more humiliation?

This story was written quite a bit of time ago and I haven't gone to change anything based on continuity in the past 6 months or so. Not that anything happened in the show that would affect the sense-make of this (moreso than it being fanfiction, anyway). Besides that, I didn't feel the need to shoehorn in references to season two. Besides this version of the story, I'll be making a non-shipping version as well, so if you're not a fan of Twixie, just *puts on sunglasses* hold your horses.

Pretty good start. I can't add anything constructive, but I'll be tracking, it looks like a fun concept.

Nice. Saw it on fanfiction.net. Now it's here. Heh, Trixie still has something to teach Twilight, hasn't she?:trixieshiftright:

Oh boy, this is going to be good. I'm tracking this :D

ooh, sorry, this story can get a bit handsy. Seriously, thanks everyone! It was just kind of a whim in my sleep deprived state to submit this here but hopefully everyone enjoys it. If even one of you likes it all the way through ill be satisfied.

I like it very much! Great writing!

I remember reading this before on fanfiction.net, was it complete there?

Was that a reference to Return of The Joker? Squee! :pinkiehappy: Anyway, I caught a few spelling errors in this one.

she didn’t want to risk that change.

Twilight spread her hoofs

Aaand yeah, I'm out of stuff to say now... good chapter.

Soooo sweeet! Will the story continue?

568283

Well, yeah. There are still several chapters yet.

Thanks for the corrections, Shade. I fixed those immediately.

Its going really nice!

For once Pinkie didn't pop out and say FOREVER!

575101

Haha! Two things I was hoping people would notice: The Return of the Joker reference and not having Pinkie Pie say 'forever.'

Hope to see more of this when you can, it is a pretty good story and i'd like to see how it turns out. :)

It was nice to re-read this. There hasn't been many good Trixie stories lately.

- Lifted ursa minor that is bigger than all of the houses
- Can't even lift a boulder not even 1/4 the size of her house.

Ouch, sorry about that. Went back and changed it. Hopefully that doesn't screw with continuity for THIS story. I'll recheck the rest later.

I raise my hat to you for this excellent work... or I would if I could get it off my head!:applejackunsure:

Nice work! Wish it continued, would of be even awesomer

There can never be enough Twixies!

My favourite shipping pair by far, and you displayed it beautifully

And... caught up and done. Wonderful to see Trixie getting over any possible hate, rather than letting it linger like in about umpteen million other fics. And yes, Dash's ego makes Trixie's look about as big as a pebble compared to a boulder. :rainbowkiss::trixieshiftright:

Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully this won't be my last entry on FIMFiction. I'm working another one now that'll be up within the month.

This is usually the part where I take the fic off my tracking list and put it in my Favorites. Good story, I can safely say that I really enjoyed it :pinkiehappy:

the ursa minor was made of stars...:derpytongue2:

There are far to few comments to announce how wonderful this piece is! I am glad I took the time out to read this wonderful fic and I await more of your tales:pinkiehappy:

Pretty good start you have here.. I do believe I'll continue reading. Just one small error I noticed though...

Slowly, it lifted higher and higher in the sky, until it rested a hundred 10 meters in the air.

That does not help your argument. If anything, it points out how much heavier than the boulder the Ursa was. Stars may be made of superheated plasma, but they are densely packed together. It's why their gravity wells are able to trap planets after all.

1424412

Ah, thanks. I'll change that.

Is the Ursa Minor ACTUALLY made of stars? I just thought it was a magical creature appearing similar to the asterism, rather than the asterism as a creature. Know what I mean?

Sorry about the slow response, but for some reason I didn't get a notification about your reply. I'm not sure it actually is made of stars, that may have just been the previous poster saying what they thought it was. Like you, I thought it was just a flesh and blood creature that happens to look like a field of stars.

Fantastic story!

It was wonderfully written and the characters were accurate "feeling" till the end. Well done!:trixieshiftleft::twilightblush:

Thank you for sharing your story with us.
May good fortunate follow you the rest of your life!:pinkiehappy:

Random fact of the day: While the Lunar Guard are a part of Equestria's standing army, they also operate as Equestria's special forces. Lunar Guards adaptability to the night has made then ideal for stealth operations. The Lunar Guard were once under the direct command of Princess Luna and Princess Celestia. They currently are under the command of six appointed high ranking officers that report directly to Princess Luna.

I assume that Rarity bounlder weight was 2 tons and Twilight managed to lift it with strength alone, Ursa Minor with his size alongside a giant bottle of milk should weight 50 tons.
Bic Mac affected with love potion was hauling house what weight was probably 20-30 tons, however he was not only affected by love potion what give him buff but also he haul it, not lift it.

With mean that Twilight magic is probably stronger then Applejack and Bic Mac strength together ( Twilight magic may run out faster then Bic Mac and Applejack stamina on long run, but in short run Twilight magic is strong like 3 Bic Macs together ).
I just hope that Twilight will not be underpowered in this story only to make Trixie look better or just because Twilight do not like to show off.

It is odd that Twilight would become stronger from several days of hard training, after all, she studied under Celestia for years, and I bet that Celestia was putting her in training far harder then Trixie did.

The only think what Twilight lack was ability to use her magic to fight, but in term of raw power she should not improve that much since she should already be powerful from training under Celestia.

I like Twilight explanation why she became so strong with her magic, it really suits her, though I still think that Twilight raw power should just be very high and not improve much from Trixie training, if anything would improve, it would be ability to use magic for combat and reflex, after all Twilight did not even considered to have a target practice, if Trixie training helped in anything, it would not be in Twilight power, but in ability to use that power in practice ( after all Twilight already was expert in short range teleportation, her telekinesis was incredibly strong, and I bet Shinning Armor teaches how to create strong barrier ).

Trixie has a rather interesting briefcase full of toys to show off with, though I wonder where she's been since the Ursa Minor incident.

Trixie sounds like she did some training before she came back to Ponyville, but it looks like it wasn't enough. She's got to go through some more intense work still first.

Also, she sure has a lot of plates on hand :trixieshiftright:

>thinking Trixie lured an Ursa Minor into another town

Yeah, because she totes brought in the last one she encountered in Ponyville

I half-expect Trixie to run away now, train for several weeks without Twilight having the same motivation to train herself, then come back.

Then again, the red string of fate probably won't let her go too far afield :twilightblush:

Wow, Twilight doesn't immediately jump to conclusions for once. That's a surprise :twilightsheepish:. Maybe if she thinks more about it she'd realise Trixie would probably be traumatised from the last Ursa attack that she wouldn't even consider bringing another one into a different town elsewhere.

I wonder if somepony is framing Trixie or if she happened to be there by coincidence earlier.

Huh, so it was Trixie's fault again. Of course, I can't really forgive her for that, since she deliberately woke the bear up to fight if off, then knowingly lead it into town, and Twilight just...forgives her.

Nice, happy ending I guess. Man, that troll Twilight at the end

"Yes, actually, that's exactly what I'm thinking.

Twilight in the show does have a dry sarcastic streak that I don't always see captured in fanfics without going overboard, so kudos there.

2661076
The exact limit of Twilight's telekinetic strength in the show is wildly inconsistent, though I agree that unless Trixie has found something like the Alicorn Amulet, she should be the stronger of the two.

"Citizens of Ponyville! I came to you one year ago with promises of incredible feats of magical skill and stories to rival the ancient legends of the Goddesses themselves. Instead, I brought lies and parlor tricks. I embarrassed this town with my own arrogance and even harmed and shamed its citizens. I was the cause of influencing young minds to believe my words without question, resulting in what could have been disastrous consequences, save for the intervention of a single pony." Trixie found Twilight in the crowd, attentively watching her with some other familiar ponies. She shot her a grateful grin before continuing.

"I was once the Great and Powerful Trixie. But today, I'm no more great or powerful than I was then, and even then I didn't deserve that title. A pony doesn't earn respect or power with worthless boasting or lies. This is something I was taught by someone much more powerful than myself, who earned their respect and loyalty. They had that much to offer me, but I can only offer my sincerest apologies to both that pony and all of you. I am truly sorry for my shameful behavior and my failure to admit when I was bested and wrong. These are the words of a new pony, please accept them."

This is just beyond ridiculous and out of character, also untrue. Not a good story.
