This story reminds me a great deal of the World of Warcraft novel War Crimes and the character of Garrosh Hellscream in it. Spike and him share many similarities and I recommend to anyone interested. It deals with the concept of change, especially in people and Spike reminds me a lot of that in his story.
5872531 On the other hand, the only way you could do this was by making the caribou even more monstrous than they already are in canon. When it comes to the caribou from the original Fall of Equestria stories, I still think there are far better solutions than genocide. (And yes, I tend to ignore the images.)
The only real error I see is that it's called "Cahpter 5" x3 None the less, really liking where this is going. How long until Spike finally takes Justice on Dainn?
Every time I get to reading a chapter of this story, I feel an overwhelming and tear-inducing need to hug all of Equestria, pony by pony, and snuggle them until they sleep blissful and peaceful dreams. And shank a Caribou prison-style.
I'm honestly conflicted as to the last part of this one. It feels like you just got in your head that you HAD to kill off a ton of named characters to give the fic more weight to its mood, but it feels so rushed, it's like a "redshirt massacre", so it's hard to really get invested.
As for the last part... well that explains why Spike both broke free of The Sickness and was the only one who could hear the voice on the wind. Now go ahead and write your fingers raw to show us how he employs the power of the Crystal Heart; "hacking" into the Cock's defensive barrier so he can reach in, grab the damn thing and shatter it within his fist is a good start.
About the deaths, it was supposed to be a massacre. The WIndigo (which will be explained) wasn't fuckig around. It never gave a single chance for them to fight back and when they did it showed how powerful and terrifying it could truly be.
And about that last part? Oh my friend, just wait to see it. I'm sure it won't dissapoint.
5872931 When the Fall's "moral" grounds are on a terribly barbaric culture but no more than that, indoctrination of the younger and the dissidents is indeed possible.
But as you said yourself, this isn't your run-of-the-mill FoE 'verse. When the depravity and cruelty run as deep as an eldritch plague...

And here I was hoping for a Vorpal Sword. Crystal Heart, MUCH better. Although, how a Wendigo was that close to it would be very interesting for Twilight to figure out.
Saw a little Starcraft in this one. Spike's ascension reminded me of the scene in Heart of the Swarm when Kerrigan was reborn as the new and improved Queen of Blades. I await the coming blood bath with great anticipation.
Ok, just caught up... I am seriously glad I decided to read this. I was worried this trial would end up being pity party for Equestria. . . But no Spike is putting the world on trial here. I bet he planned on taking the cowards with him at his execution. I am rather enjoying the story and I look forward to more.
Aww yeah, so good to see someone write griffons as being loyal allies, to often they're written as power hungry opportunists that take the first chance to attack Equestria.
“Of course not, but still, they found an actual living Windigo and it has been almost four days. Forgive me for getting a little concern---”
Night Light was suddenly interrupted by an unworldly powerful roar that echoed around the entire Empire and beyond.
"FUS RO DAHHHH!!!!!!!"
Shining Armor felt his heart pump uncontrollably and a surge of fear washed all over him. He got up, uncaring that his mother landed on the floor unceremoniously, thankfully, on her ass and back. “I need to write a message,” Shining said with a shaky voice, his coat whiter than ever.
Buck! That was long, so bucking long! BUCK!!!!! It was extremely detailed and very, very, very well written, you done amazing and I seriously feel bad for those that lost their lives...damn.
“We will see you again, Spike the Dragon,” Creslin said looking at the hole with a sad smile, she then looked around to see her companions. She grabbed her ocarina, the rest of her companions doing the same. Creslin looked around one more time seeing the rest ready to play, they all nodded, closed their eyes and began to play a sad, mournful tone.
I like to imagine its the Nocturne of Shadows from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.... Anyone else?
8562813 I actually envisioned that same song when writing that scene XD. Nocturne of Shadow is my second all time Zelda song, with Gerudo's Valley being first (Ocarina of Time), and Song of Healing being the third.
The real Crystal Heart is what called to Spike up at Solitude. It merged with his body, blessing him with the means to take on the caribou, bring back peace to Equestria and get his revenge.

5872496 Then I hope I won't dissapoint you in the next chapter.
I'm impressed. You manage to set things up in a way that makes me see Spike's actions as reasonable.
Also, lol, Ulfric and Solitude. Apparently I'm not the only one who uses Skyrim references in Post-Fall.
I noticed that your chapters are released monthly.
Goddamn, that was a big yet rewarding chapter. Now, the counterattack will begin.

5872501 please update soon, this gets better and better!
Before I even attempt to read this I must say: god damn that's a lot of words.
Nice! I especially liked the Samurai Jack reference. (Samurai Jack XX - Jack and the Monks)
now spike just needs the tree's power.
5873220 Happy you enjoyed the reference.
Look like someone been watching Samurai Jack.

5873797 Thank you for that comment.

5874537 ... I think it's best I do not comment on that.

Me too; as a matter of fact, I also believe that someone else also used that reference as well:
*Looks at clock*
Yup that took awhile!

5873220 I see I wasn't the only one that caught that.
The Crystal Cock's shield may be unbreakable, but it's floor isn't.

Meh, you're right, I was babbling. Probably shouldn't post when I'm drunk.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually prefer this Dainn over the emotionless canon version of him.
This was a long and very good chapter. I mean an excellent chapter and I cannot wait to see what's next.
5928828
I have been, and every chapter makes me more hopeful Spike adds most of this council to his kill count.
5918349
Probably because unlike NCN and the others, Ekhidna actually puts some thought into the character.
5938319
Looks like Discord need to teleport some more ice.
5938575
The more I read this, the more it feels like Spike turned into The Punisher.
SHIT... JUST... GOT... REAL!!! All I could hear in my head when Spike stepped out of the mist was this:
Awesome chapter to an awesome story! I await Spike's attack and the coming uprising.
5938319
Somebody call the fire department.
This is some first class shit, I thank the author for some unusual but welcome literature, keep it up!!

Ulfric? Solitude? Three eyed
trollsyetis? ;)Aww yeah, so good to see someone write griffons as being loyal allies, to often they're written as power hungry opportunists that take the first chance to attack Equestria.
The whole mountain sequence was just epic.
I'm getting some high levels of Skyrim from this chapter

Sinbad, Legend of the Seven Seas.
