I assume the doctor isn't bringing Derpy along because she has to look after the family, and his adventures are too dangerous, even if they take no time.
Also I found "sexy derp eyes" far funnier than I probably should have.

Cute little story. I liked it though. I didn't find it that sad though because of course the doctor will come back.

Iron Will was kind of out of character here, I think (in "Putting Your Hoof Down" he's certainly loud, but that's at least partly his stage persona and he turns out to be a pretty reasonable guy after all), but I suppose one can chalk that up to him being just that drunk this once for whatever reason...

Of course, the story also kind of tacitly assumes that every reader already knows who the characters are and thus skimps on describing them. I know who Iron Will is, for example; but somebody who hasn't watched PYHD will come away from reading this having learned only that he's apparently huge...oh, and that he has hands. Which is really the only thing telling me that this is apparently supposed to be our minotaur after all rather than, say, some oversized stallion who simply happens to share the name; it's not as though as much as his species was mentioned here.
